  1. I'd rather Raul Ibanez than Mench. Todd Walker for Ibanez.
  2. This quote from the The Cub Reporter made me smile.
  3. Let's just say, that site's credibility rests on the outcome of this rumor. I'd hold off shelling out the $80 until you see how it pans out.
  4. A&M out to a 22-21 lead in the 3rd. Go Aggies!
  5. I think if Furcal is signed, Walker is traded and you end up with an infield of Furcal-Cedeno which is probably equal to a defense of Cedeno-Castillo.
  6. Nah...as long as Fredi Gonzalez is still out there, we're ok.
  7. 2003: The Chicago Cubs traded Hee Seop Choi for 1b Derrek Lee of the Florida Marlins.
  8. 1. Felix Pie +10 +10 2. Rich Hill +10 +6 3. Mark Pawlek +10 +8 4. Ronny Cedeno +10 +8 5. Ryan Harvey +10 +6 6. Sean Gallagher 7. Renyel Pinto 8. Eric Patterson +10 +7 9. Angel Guzman +10 +4 10. Sean Marshall +10 +5 134
  9. Only if McGwire left some of his steroid stash behind.
  10. is there a story here? See here. ok. i was hoping this was one of those things like used to happen with kurt warner's wife where somebody's was saying that the cubs shouldn't re-sign jeromy on the score, and then stephanie burnitz called in and suggested they die. Nah,...but I'm not sure we can rule out that wasn't Stephanie Burnitz...lol.
  11. The Cardinals certainly won't. Bret Boone to the Cards, then.
  12. No, simply because who ever takes him takes Lowell and I don't see the Yankees having interest in doing that.
  13. I found this while perusing articles this morning. Wow...three year deal for Grudzielanek? Will anyone give him that?
  14. whattabum Trade him to Philly for Abreu.
  15. It's not all that depressing....with Thome's health, this could be Frank Thomas part deux.
  16. Unless Hill is moved for a big bat ( Dunn, Abreu) I figure he'll compete with Rusch for the fifth starter's role in ST and then be shipped to AAA to wait for another opportunity. What about Williams? I'm almost certain Williams will be traded, and I could see him going for a lesser option like Mench.
  17. My guess is that if Boston pulls out, the deal with Texas will be consumated. I don't think Texas has as many concerns about the shoulder. Texas needs an ace and they won't be picky about how they come by one.
  18. Unless Hill is moved for a big bat ( Dunn, Abreu) I figure he'll compete with Rusch for the fifth starter's role in ST and then be shipped to AAA to wait for another opportunity.
  19. You got it right in that specific statement, stick with that. They should be used as a compliment; denying that Podsednik was nothing short of a critical part of a World Series team is pretty crazy IMHO. If Posednik was so critical, why did the White Sox score fewer runs in 2005 than in 2004. I think the White Sox success was more indicative of their phenomenal pitching than anything the offense contributed.
  20. is there a story here? See here.
  21. Personally, I'd keep Walker, but everything I'm hearing is if we sign Furcal, Walker will be traded. That being the case, this could be a deal where we actually get value for him. Both Walker and Ibanez are affordable and probably produce better than what they are being paid. It's a good fit, especially if the Cubs are convinced they are going to trade Todd.
  22. My guess is if the Red Sox try to amend the deal, the Marlins will pull it off the table and make the deal with Texas for Blalock and Danks and then spin Blalock for more prospects.
  23. I was reading this article on possible moves by the Mariners this offseason, when this section jumped out at me. Seattle also has been rumored to be looking at outfielders to play LF. Right now they have Reed in CF and Ichiro in RF. They can use Ibanez at LF or a DH. If the Cubs sign Furcal as expected, how would a Todd Walker for Ibanez deal look? Ibanez isn't flashy, and he's probably not the best defender either. However, in 2005 he hit .280 with a 355 OBP and a 433 SLG. He contributed 20 HR's. I think we could expect solid production from him in RF and he would fit nicely in the five or six hole. He bats left so he would help balance the line-up as well. Ibanez is due to make around 5 million in 2006, so he fits the budget nicely as well. This line-up would be ok, I think. Pierre cf Furcal ss Lee 1b Ramirez 3b Ibanez rf Murton lf Cedeno/Neifi 2b Barrett c
  24. How about the Puerto Rican Marlins?
