  1. For those with sportsline's game tracker, if you click on Miles's hot/cold, his whole grid is blue except for one sqaure.
  2. The only point I am trying to make is that we are not qualified, from this perspective to determine if an umpire if failing. If it was a safe/out call then fine, you can see that. With calling balls and strikes, you can't tell from TV. Everybody who watches baseball thinks they are a qualified evaluator of umpires, most are not. You are a teacher also, what do you think when parents, or anyone outside of your profession tries to evaluate your skills? I agree generally that the umpire has a better view of balls and strikes. In fact, I felt most of Dempster's pitches were off the plate by a hair, but they were closer to the plate than the strike to Theriot for example. Furthermore, I'm not calling for the umpire to be fired or anything. I'm just bitching about him. Others are always evaluating my skills. And unlike umpires, I actually have to listen to their concerns. Oh the fun I'd have if I could deal with parents and outsiders with the arrogance of a MLB umpire. And if I gave a test and gave one student a correct mark for the same answer I gave another student an incorrect mark on the same answer, I'm sure I'd have to do some explaining to someone.
  3. If you had a wreck because the garage that put new tires on your car forgot to tighten the lug nuts and your tire came off, would you just chalk it up to that kind of stuff happens or would it be ok to bitch about the person who couldn't do his job competently?
  4. Those were strikes to Theriot. Dempster getting squeezed.
  5. That is simply amazing. :D
  6. It's the ring-tone on my phone during the baseball season. Sometimes I start to get embarrassed when it goes off in public, but then I realize that I don't give a damn. Most of the people I know find it funny because it's so corny, yet something that only I would have. Come to think of it, what does that say about me? :-k It's the ring tone on my phone too.
  7. My nephew saw Ben Sheets last Saturday at the UL-Monroe baseball game. According to my nephew (he's 13 btw), Sheets looked fat and out of shape.
  8. Lufkin? Damn. Did you draw the short straw or something? :D
  9. we've gotten some breaks in another game or two earlier this year, but yeah today's home plate ump was terrible. I understand about getting bad breaks. But he missed two calls. All three of those strike calls were generous...and the strike three call, well, I'm not ever sure I've seen that pitch called a strike...in all my 30+ years of watching baseball.
  10. I still think the bogus calls on Bradley were the turning point. If the ump had half a clue, we would have gotten a minimum of two more runs that inning and possibly more.
  11. The bogus call against Bradley to me was the turning point. The Cubs seem to mail it in after that. Bradley saw only one real strike that whole at bat, and even that one was questionable. Vanover called two obvious balls strikes. Bradley should have walked in the go-ahead run. Not only did the umpire's ridiculous strike zone cost a run, it cost us a valuable out. Assuming Soriano's AB goes the same way, the Cubs would have had another run in with two outs and still runners on base for Fukudome. All this doesn't excuse the terrible bullpen decision to use Patton when Lou did, but I don't think one can minimize the impact of those horrible calls happening when they did.
  12. God I hate this ump. Does he have a history with Bradley? Because he's called every pitch that was the same as strike 3 to Bradley a ball.
  13. I delivered the load from Pineville in Dallas this morning. Sitting at a logistics warehouse now, waiting for my 1600 appointment to load. Gonna deliver to a Wal-Mart DC in Sealy, TX (Houston area) in the morning. After that.... who knows ? So they're sending you all over the Lone Star State. Let me know if you head this way over the weekend. There's still some good restaurants I can introduce you to. Plus, it's crawfish season if you're in to eating mudbugs. Man.... could I use some good gumbo right about now !!! I know just the place!
