  1. this now officially puts him on the radar for a signing by the Cubs at a low figure, then rehab him and trade him.
  2. can we say 1969 revisted on the Cards (then it was Cubs and Mets)
  3. I should have picked other because once the lottery check comes in and my investment on the autograph Dusty Baker card pays off I will have the cash to run
  4. The true optimist or blind would just click the best scenario before answering. then there is us realist that would like to see, analyze the facts then get our hopes crushed
  5. Lou Piniella- Stubborn to the point of shooting himself in the foot.
  6. If Hendry felt he couldn't sign him he would've traded him at the deadline. Right? I'm hoping at least... I think Hendry has shown he lacks the ability to think that far in the future. Ru kidding he pre-empted the signing of Kerry Wood, which was a killer of a deal for the Cubs.
  7. let's think business wise, girardi takes a year off collects 1.5 million then gets back into it. what a way to screw the Marlins
  8. Are you optimistic or pesemistic about our chances next year.
  9. whose wish list???
  10. And Les Walrond. Well played. Ryu kidding? I Juan Jim to Rusch Glendon out the door, and Mabry I'll buy tickets again. Howry we gonna compete? That's Rich. Ohman. cut it out guys your killing me!!!
  11. That quote is so infuriating to me because Maddux was here for 2.5 years and I don't think any young pitcher improved during that time. He can't teach them to pitch. Just like Jordan can't coach players to be great. I think Maddux helped them in ways that may not show up now but later. The Cubs had a bunch of kids up this year and I don't think we'll see the results until next year or the year after. It's not like some magic rub Greg gave them, just some tips on how to better themselves and we'll see how they impliment them to their own abilites. IMO, Maddux has a wealth of knowledge and you can't lose by listening to what he has to say. Agree 100 percent
  12. OOOOHHHHH, I understand. I have a grand in my saving account and I can trade in my truck, do you think the Trib would take my offer?
  13. Mark Prior. Who's he? Who cares? Same feelings for our "Man of the Year" Kerry Wood
  14. to address the argument that it is a world game and why change for those bloody Americans, well that is a perfect reason. While the world watches the sport we consume sports with large amounts of cash. If you really want to open this game to America (which I am encouraging my girls) the offense should be encouraged to score. ie: basketall in the 80's
  15. If that's true, I don't see why it would be any harder to call a guy offsides based on being past or being a yard past. Because you don't have a yardstick to tell you exactly what a yard is. The way it is now, either the attacking player is past the defender or he isn't. Making it a yard would bring a lot more judgement into the decision. Well, it doesn't have to a yard, it could be something like "significantly past". I've seen quite a bit of controversy over the current calls with the "he is or he isn't" system, I don't see why it would be anymore with a different system. agreed, I was called three times on great two on one break-outs and my girl was no more than a half step , if that, in front of the defender. It penalized the more agressive team and penalizes the swifer athlete. Now there should be a rule for cherry picking by the defenders goal.
  16. Now that my daughter is at the age of more rules , that as coach I have to learn and teach, I have come to the realization how soccer can be made less boring to the American audience. TAKE AWAY OFF sides!! Yes, what a momentum killer, I can't see any other rule that is such a bummer in any sport.
  17. Thank you, I just wanted to know where this got started
  18. Yes, two of my co-workers came in this morn and said so I heard "the Cubs are looking into Ichiro for next year" Where? I relplied, they said on the news. Help me out, did anybody else here this ridiculous rumor? (could only hope)
  19. I can tell that his dad isn't giving him the same advice that he gave our hitters.
  20. Yeah, you don't notice the bad singing as much when the person is good looking. I suspect the pleasentry on the eyes would fool many peopl
  21. Whom are you addressing? Hope springs eternal for the next 24 hours, I was speaking to all cubs fans, who are true optomists
  22. Wait a minute, are you saying we still have a chance??? All we got to do is go on a tear for the rest of the season and everybody else lose. It can happen, that lady in NY won the million dollar scratch off twice. this is an appropriat place for a
  23. Opposed to 12 we paid Kerry (noodle arm) Woods?
  24. whatever happened to tagging up, the cubs seam to do it the least, esp. from first to second. Are the arms that much better?
  25. We'll just change the label to "change up"
