  1. I think people just need to let it go already. I enjoyed the contest, posted pictures, but it wasn't that big of a deal that it was taken down. I was a little upset that there wasn't really a reason given, but the mods have given their side of the story now. I understand why the mods did it and I understand why Tim doesn't want it on his site. The jokes and the complaining are getting old. If you want a hot chick contest College Humor is having one right now. Let it go already.
  2. They're going to have to attach one of them to Lowell if they expect to get out of that deal. I could see them trading Castillo and Pierre separately.
  3. I guess you're a little too excited. You only need to hit the submit button once.
  4. You might be surprised. Rumor has it they plan to flip Blalock once the trade is completed. Wow. That used to be a good organization. It's unfortunate. They just don't have the fan base that they should. It doesn't help that they have to play baseball in Dolphins Stadium. I remember going to a game in 2003 in late August during their big run to the playoffs and the stadium was still dead.
  5. There seems to be a problem resolving northsidebaseball.com to its proper IP address. It's such a problem, in fact, I'm amazed anybody's even online right now. Are you using northsidebaseball.com to navigate to the site, or are you going straight to the IP address? I was wondering why it's so dead in here today. I'm using northsidebaseball to navigate the site and I haven't had a problem getting on. OK, then this is weird. I (and several other regular posters) are unable to get to this site using the domain name, but can using its IP address. My only guess now is that it's a regional or provider-specific issue. Who's your internet provider? (Answers from anybody would be appreciated.) I have Comcast out of Michigan. I'm using Firefox. Haven't had a problem at all.

  7. Will those of you who have criticized Hendry for not going all-out to get Giles please opine as to whether Jocketty deserves the same treatment? He's got holes at both corner-OF positions. Excellent point. I haven't been around these boards lately due to the incessant sniping at Hendry. I can understand the loathing towards Baker, but why Hendry? Is it just 'popular' around here to badmouth him or what? Some of you people need to look into the RECENT past and remember MacPhail. I mean, would you rather have Todd Hundley on a monster deal or Barrett? Wait, don't answer that, also know that we obtained Karros and Grudz for Hundley and they in part helped us reach the NLCS. I'd be thrilled if we got Giles, but if we don't, fine - it doesn't mean Hendry is a goon. Hendry wanted Dempster as closer from day one. Hendry recognized Hollandsworth wasn't working and pushed for Murton. Hendry recognized Cedeno would soon be starting and pushed for it. Hendry traded Sosa. Hendry moved Wood to the bullpen. All five of these moves were whined about on this forum, but all five Hendry ended up doing. I hate to hijack my own thread, but lay off the Hendry-hatred guys. Are you all liberals? We're supossed to hate the enemy! I don't want to get into a Hendry bashing fight or anything, but your reasononing doesn't make much sense. If Hendry wanted Dempster as closer from day one, and wanted Murton playing everyday instead of Holla, and wanted Cedeno starting instead of Neifi everyday, then why didn't he tell Dusty to do these things. Hendry is the boss right? Seems like Dusty is the one running the show around here. And with the Sosa trade, we got peanuts in return. Why did Hendry let the videotape be leaked of Sosa leaving early? That only hurt his trade value. And why put Wood in the bullpen at all? It was obvious that while we weren't mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, we were definitely not going to the playoffs, so why risk Wood's health further by pitching him out of the bullpen? Why not just push for the surgery earlier so we knew Wood would be ready to go in April?
  8. I wouldn't go that far. They'll probably trade for Dunn now.
  9. Looks like the firesale is starting in Florida. You can get your players at a discount of prospects as long as you're willing to pay contracts. I wonder if Girardi knew what he was getting into when he signed on as the new manager.
  10. you and Truffle both...
  11. I haven't heard much news regarding Millwood lately. Last I heard he was offered a contract by the Indians which he quickly shot down, but that was a while ago. Anyone heard anything? Do you think he's on Hendry's radar?
  12. Ozuna: .276/.313/.330 in 2005 + ability to play 8 positions = 1 year, $500,000 Perez: .274/.298/.383 in 2005 + ability to play infield = 2 years, $5 million :-k Awesome comparison Jon. Don't know whether to laugh hysterically or cry.
  13. I wonder if the NSBB emergency site has enough bandwith?
  14. Miserable Pavano wants to be traded this winter Any interest if the Yanks eat a bunch of his contract?
  15. Wait, Eyre gets a no-trade clause too??? Someone please tell me this is a joke. :x
  16. Looks like we might know where Furcal will land in maybe the next 2 weeks. http://www.suntimes.com/output/cubs/cst-spt-cub18.html
  17. Epstein interested in the Cubs? Hendry an option for the Red Sox? How about they just switch places from last year? :D
  18. It's only worth $11 million if he exercises the player option for the 3rd year. It's a typo on ESPN.
  19. I wonder how much Mike Myers will get now since he's the only lefty not named Ryan/Wagner who's worth a crap. I bet his pricetag just went up a little bit.
  20. Any bets on how many times Hendry calls Eyre a "gamer"???
  21. The Cubs won't pick up any more bullpen guys, I'll say that now with confidence. Starters: Wood Prior Z Maddux Rusch Bullpen: Williams Williamson Novoa His Eyreness Dumpster Wuertz Ohman Intentional? I will come through this screen after you. I thought their were word filters so that wouldn't happen or is it just for the Sosa & Cpatt lovers? Just for the Sosa and Cpatt defense squad. Double standards abound on this website. You sure do post on here quite a bit for not liking this site and how it's run.
  22. After an arbitration raise to Zambrano, my guess is its closer to 20. Either way, it's drying up pretty rapidly with little to show. It's like eating out every night. Sure 10 bucks isn't much, but keep doing it every night and it adds up. You have 17,000 posts? Geez Vance. I don't think you spend enough time on here.
  23. Have you gotten that Encarnacion shirt ordered yet too??? :D
  24. What the heck is boston doing? From Rotoworld: Going from Epstein to Bowden???
  25. You're laughing your butt off right now, aren't you??
