  1. Showing it didn't hurt after fighting the guy and doing something to him is one thing, but yeah, that was so lame. What a wimp. I also don't see anything admirable about his teamates coming to his defense and tackling Barrett. If you are a man, you fight one on one or not at all. Can't blame the teammates. That's what they're supposed to do. But if you watch the replays you'll see AJ get clocked and then he just backs out of the situation while his teammates go after Barrett.
  2. Exactly. If we're going to trade the farm and Marshall for a player, it better be Cabrera. This team is dying for another power hitter. Getting DTrain is pointless if we can't score runs.
  3. Haha. Ozzie's a tool, but that's funny stuff. And Hill was right on when calling AJ gutless. He got smacked by Barrett and then just ran out of the way when the benches cleared. If you got punched in the face wouldn't you want to go after the guy that clocked you? Not AJ. He runs away, and then smacks his chin to the crowd telling them it didn't hurt that much. Total WWF crap.
  4. Zambrano is the only thing this team has going for it right now. Marshall has been pretty good as well. Other than those two the team has been crap though.
  5. You could put down a $5 bet on the Cubs winning the World Series and make like a gazillion dollars with the odds now. Of course you'd be just wasting your $5.
  6. Barrett was winding up to clock Podsednik too until the umpire grabbed him. Would have liked to see that. Barrett would have killed him.
  7. Zoloft, Efexxor, Prozac... I just started therapy. The psychologist asked what was wrong. I told him I'm a Cubs fan. He gave me a lifetime's suplly of Prozac.
  8. The Cubs are 2nd to last in the Majors on offense, ahead of only the Royals. They aren't hitting for average, they don't take walks, and they have no power. It's pathetic all the way around.
  9. I was going to listen to the Iowa game tonight, but I see Pie isn't in the lineup and Tony freakin Womack is leading off.
  10. Contreras will throw a no-hitter tommorow. Z will only give up 1 run, but the Cubs lose.
  11. Mateo leaves the game in the 3rd with an undisclosed injury. More info to come.
  12. He just got plunked in the knee in his last at-bat. Seemed to be okay though.
  13. Barrett was probably thinking he could kill 2 birds with one stone. He'd be the guy that finally got to hit AJ, and he'd get the next 7 or so days off instead of playing on this ridiculous team.
  14. Barrett should send a couple haymakers Dusty's way. I'm so sick of Dusty.
  15. Well, on the bright side, we won't see as many highlights of the White Sox destroying us today on ESPN tonight.
  16. Take your blinders off, watch it again, and tell me its clean. I love how people expect a guy going full speed into home to gauge where exactly the ball is and what velocity it's coming in at. Barrett was blocking the plate. That's all that needs to be said. Clean play. Maybe...but then AJ got up and started walking past Barrett when the dugout was the other way....AJ was trying to mix it up. Hughes said he was walking to pick up his helmet. His helmet wasn't over that way though. It was near the 3rd base line. There was no need for AJ to go left except to walk near Barrett.

    Blanco

Blanco is a solid back up catcher. He is very good at defense, which Barrett is not. I'm going to assume you meant to make this thread about Bynum, Hairston, Rusch or Neifi. We could get the same good defense from some of our catchers in the minors for league minimum. Blanco is making $1.5 million this year. Same could be said for Neifi, Rusch, Pierre, Jones, Mabry, etc. Just shows what a terrible GM we have.
  18. Guess it's time to go out and mow the lawn.
  19. Iguchi (and everyone else) owns Hill.
  20. Hill has walked a ton and gave up a grand slam to Iguchi. Sox scored 5 in the 2nd inning. Big brawl between Barrett and AJ after AJ knocked Barrett over at the plate. Cubs' offense is doing it's usual. That's about it.
  21. cause barrett got thrown out. get used to it. You'll see him playing for the next 5-6 games.
  22. Hill has retired 7 in a row (after the grand slam of course).
  23. Please. The ball was 10 feet away. Slide around him and touch the plate. How did AJ know the ball was 10 feet away (which it wasn't)? . Exactly. But I'm the one that's blind. Was the forearm to Barrett's face clean during the collision? How about slapping the plate? Was that called for? Or how about when AJ went straight towards Barrett instead of going back to the Sox dugout? AJ deserved it.
  24. Well the fight sure fired up the Cubs' bats... :wall:
