  1. I see Cedeno's BA is plummeting. Down to .260 with a .283 OBP.
  2. We're well on our way to shortest gamethread of the year.
  3. I'm amazed that Clines still has a job. Von Joshua should have been made hitting coach a while ago. Not that it will help all that much with this swing-at-everything team. Also, it's funny that Hendry's "guys" will get a pass, but Dusty's "guys" probably will be let go. That's got to put a little snag in Dusty's and Hendry's relationship.
  4. All I have to say is that we've been shut out 10 times this year. 10 times. That's ridiculous. I don't think it really matters where you put people in this lineup. They're still gonna swing at everything and make the pitcher work very little no matter what order they're in. Only way the lineup is going to get better is if Hendry gets better hitters (guys who actually walk and take some pitches) to put in the lineup.
  5. Haha. Capuano has a 28 inning scoreless streak going against the Cubs. Complete game shutout. Who'dha thunk it.
  6. People have to remember that Abreu has a no-trade clause. I'm sure he wants out of Philly with the way he's being treated by Philly fans, but he might not waive that no-trade clause to go to certain.
  7. Nice baserunning Aram. Way to jog to first and then try to get a triple. Smart baseball.
  8. Weeks with an rbi double. 1-0 Brewers. Go Brewers!!
  9. Haha. Brewers' announcers: "We got to get these stats and thoughts in quickly. These innings are breezing along." Welcome to a Cub fan's life.
  10. Brewers' announcers talking about Pagan like he's the next Pujols. Talking about how excited the Cubs are to have him back. They did say that Murton should be playing since the Cubs are in the position they are.
  11. The Brewers are going to kill us tonight. And why is Neifi batting 2nd? Pagan batting 5th? Barrett sitting? Yeesh.
  12. How many other organizations would still have Hill in AAA with the way he's pitched since his demotion while having inept pitching at the Major League level? I don't care how bad he was in his last time up. The man deserves to be on the big club and should be given a real chance.
  13. Why? What has this guy done since he's been here? Why is his job safe? Makes no sense. Anyone else get the feeling that Hendry is just going to fire Clines and Sarge and that's it? :x
  14. I'd give Dempster and a middle relief guy. I love Demps...great guy...but nights like last night...and 5 of his last 10 opportunities scare the hell out of me...give me freel...we'll find a closer. I don't think Freel has enough "value" to command Dempster and a middle reliever. He could probably be had for a guy like Ohman. Freel for Novoa or Wuertz. If that's not enough give them both.
  15. I'd love to have Freel. Put him at 2b until Patterson is ready. He would give this team an actual leadoff hitter that gets on base.
  16. Miller has been throwing 83-85mph in his rehab starts. That's not gonna get it done. Waste of a $1 million. It would have been nice if Hendry got a healthy pitcher this offseason instead of another rehab experiment. Once again, why did Hendry get an extension?
  17. But this is the slippery slope. Who plays CF for 2007? Would this force Hendry to sign Pierre to an extension? Would Hendry be comfortable with Pagan in CF for a year? I think you trade Pierre and then bring up Negron to see what he can do the rest of the year. He's been killing the ball at AA.
  18. Wait. I don't understand what happened. The Cubs recorded the final out while having the lead. What does that mean?
  19. Walt Jocketty is looking for pitching based on a radio report I heard today from Ken Rosenthal. I wonder if St. Louis gets involved here. Looks like Walt was interested they said during the game that the Cards got him for Terry Evans. Cy Young, here he comes...
  20. Kruk also said that the team hasn't quit on Dusty. He obviously hasn't been watching the last month. This team doesn't care at all if they win or lose.
  21. 2 OUTS!!!!!!!!! It's felt like the Cubs have only gotten 2 outs an inning all year long.
  22. Please send Murton to AAA please. Riding the bench isn't going to help him.
