    Everyone is missing the obvious here IMHO. Zell is only on the Tribune board of directors at the moment since the deal has not completely closed. Ever consider that this came from Dennis FitzSimons since he is the top dog at Tribune? With Zell's interest in the Sox, the Cubs will be sold by Tribune before the deal is complete of his purchase of the Tribune. Are you suggesting that you have knowledge that it did come from FitzSimons or are you simply speculating? Sounds like he's just speculating to me.

    Yep. His stuff is way too good to be nibbling on the corners. The catcher just needs to set up in the middle of the plate and let Z's natural movement take the ball to the corners.

    That's true. They did move another 1/2 game closer to the WC last night. Also, if the Cubs can beat Colorado today, they will move past them 5th in the WC chase, and are only 2-3 games behind Atlanta and Philadelphia for 3rd and 4th. Much more difficult to jump a bunch of teams in the Wild Card than it is to chase 1 team in the division.

    But isn't Jocketty responsible for how the farm system works? The Cardinals farm system has been atrocious for years, and he hasn't done much to fix the situation. I agree with the rest of your sentiment though.

    I like Raw a lot , but any U of M fan has my vote.

    Doubtful Hendry will be allowed to take on Griffey's contract with the sale of the team coming up after the season.

    Looks like Zell had nothing to do with it. Hendry just finally woke up and realized that the deal sucked.

    Hopefully Bruce is writing an article as we speak that might tell us what happened with the deal. The more I think about it, the more it makes absolutely no sense that Zell vetoed the trade.
