  1. Gammons still believes, even after he previously called that this would be done the weekend after the Bedard/Jones trade. Peter Gammons predictions are the kiss of death "It looks like Nomar won't be heading anywhere. The Cubs and Red Sox couldn't complete a deal before the deadline." 4 seconds later Nomar was a Cub.
  2. Soriano doesn't look like he's running very well.
  3. So many jokes in there with not enough time.
  4. I honestly can't believe that the trade talks (and this thread) are still going on. It's crazy that this has lasted so long.
  5. You picked a good night to move the site. I will be extremely drunk at a Birthday party on Saturday, so I don't think I'll be anywhere near a computer that night. It will also keep me from drunk posting when I come home.
  6. You're going to cause poor Meph to commit suicide. Where did you hear that? I guess Meph will just have to blog about it at nsbblol then.
  7. It's funny because it hasn't really sunk in yet that Dusty is the Reds' new manager. I guess I'll have to see him in the uniform for it to completely sink in. I feel bad for Reds' fans.
  8. Sounds like he wasn't doing much throwing during the offseason if he's got a sore shoulder already.
  9. I really don't want to give up Gallagher, and it sucks if Cedeno goes because he's got a better chance at being decent than Theriot does, but I don't have any problem giving up EPatt and Veal. I'd probably be okay with that deal though. I'm guessing BRob will be a Cub by September. September 2010? Nope. September 2010 is when Neifi comes back to play SS.

  11. I hate to interrupt the arguing, but there is an actual tidbit of news: Suntimes
  12. If true, Lou and Hendry must really like Fuld. One, I think it would be a bad deal if Pie is included in the package to get Roberts. Two, if for some reason Hendry is that dumb, he has to have some sort of backup plan in place because there's no way Fuld should be a starter.
  13. I got in about 5 minutes after 10 and got the tickets I wanted for the one game my parents come to town. I don't feel like trying to get other tickets. I got what I needed, so I'm giving up. I figure if I want to go to other games I'll try to buy tickets the day of the game.
  14. Belkast had this to say when someone asked him if Roberts would be traded to either the Cubs or wouldn't be traded at all:
  15. I just hope this trade goes down ASAP. I'm so tired of this stupid thread.
  16. Good God. We need some actual baseball to be played. Reading this crap is just ridiculous at this point. How many more days until opening day?
  17. Is there any actual news about Roberts in the past 8 pages or is it just all bickering?
  18. And the broken record skips again. One more time: 1. Leadoff is not a position. 2. You don't know what Hendry wants any more than any other fan. Ok leadoff might not be a position, but it is still something you need to focus on when building your team. You need a leadoff hitter on your team just like you need a 2B. We have no leadoff hitters, so getting a leadoff hitter should be a top priority. Who cares if it is a position or not! It is a position in the batting order! No you don't! Would the Cubs score more runs with Brian Roberts leading off or Chase Utley? You want to have good players and then sort them out. This is the argument that was used for the wonderful Juan Pierre. You are obviously just a baseball fan. I am a baseball coach. My highschool coach was terrible and had a full-time job working for UPS. You being a coach means absolutely nothing. Leadoff hitter is not a position. You don't need to go out and search for one. I'd take a Youkilis type batting 1st over a Juan Pierre type any day of the week. We need good hitters. We need people who can get on base and guys who can hit for power. We need guys who are going to give us high OPS. It doesn't matter how fast they are or where they bat in the lineup.
  19. We'd still have those 3 holes in the lineup with or without BRob, which makes getting BRob kind of stupid in the first place. Hendry should be looking for a SS replacement.
  20. michigan lost 4 games this year. they're losing their QB, RB, best OL and two best WR. losing 3 or 4 games would be pretty miraculous. if they do lose that few, it'll probably be b/c of a soft schedule more than anything else. That's exactly why I think they have a good chance at only losing 3-4. Their schedule this year is pretty easy.
