  1. But CPatt must bear the majority of it. He refused to change his batting style-learn the strike zone, choke up, learn to bunt to use his speed, etc... He refused to go to winter ball to make any changes to his game. He had an opinion of the type of player he was and he was wrong. His attitude was terrible and it showed. The sight of him strolling back to the dugout after failing for the 100th time and looking out towards the bleachers with a lost look on his face, is something I will not miss. But Hendry is losing ground fast. His fabled minor league system has failed to produce an everyday player in years. They draft college pitchers with history of injuries(Brownlie), small players with average talent(Greenburg), catchers who can't catch and the list goes on.. From Nic Jackson, Bobby Hill, Brooks Kieshnick, Corey Patterson, Gene Clines, Hee Seop Choi, Luis Montanez to an endless list of losers.
  2. Even though I do listen to 'Sports Central', I don't think Kaplan has broken any Cubs story or has any better insight than most of the posters here. He will always say he "talked to a GM today" or "front office people" but NEVER says who they are. And when Hendry is on the air with him, Kaplan just sits in his lap and licks his face. I realize that Kaplan can't be too tough on the air because of who he works for, but a little tougher questioning is what most of us want from him.
  3. By some posters too. Having a wife that grew up in Chicago means absolutely nothing. The Woods live in Arizona during the off-season. Uproot from what? Even you know there are plenty of doctors, flights to Chicago and nice areas in the VA. and MD. countryside for the Woods to live in from April-Sept. $12 million+ for a potential #1-2. HA!! Those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
  4. You may want to check with Wrigleyvillesports or Cubs World for the jersey. Haven't seen an announcement on putting the names back on the home jerseys for the '06 season, probably depends on McDonough's sales projections.
  5. ARam is an average to mediocre fielder. He also is showing signs of the rap he had in Pittsburgh: out of shape, doesn't always hustle and sometimes is less than enthusiastic about playing hurt. Blalock is an All-Star. So is Tejada. He could DH or play 1st at Baltimore.
  6. Trade Aram, Williams, Kornoka, Brownlie/Welly, Sing/Dopriak to the O's for Tejada Trade CPatt, Wood, Walker, Brownlie/Welly to Rangers for Blalock and Nix Blalock at 3rd, Cedeno at 2nd, Tejada at SS, Nix in RF..Cubs save $6 million+
  7. Ya think? Don't work for The Score, but I think it's great that people in Louisiana, New Mexico, North Carolina, China must listen to it more than I do. They can tell us what is said every minute of the day. 8) 8) 8) 8) Even I can't do that. I can understand why people in Iowa don't like The Score after B & B took on self-righteous Steve Alford and his raping basketball player. Many Iowa fans were mad at having this clown exposed. They have an agenda. I'm just a Cubs fan in the western suburbs, who only wants 3 things in 2006. The Cubs win the World Series, Badger gets a $100K+ job and Kerry Wood wins 25 games and makes me eat my words. I feel confident about 2 of them.
  8. No, I'm not sure what you mean. Are you saying that Ofman apologized later about telling this story? If so, that wouldn't surprise me. Remember, Kinzer and Hendry (and the Cubs) have an ongoing relationship to consider. Kinzer is also Aramis' agent so it's not a good idea to have a story out there that tries to make the organization look badly. Also, even if the story is false, it would behoove Hendry to ignore it (rather than dispute its merits) because its a lose-lose proposition. Kinzer and JH need to maintain a positive working relationship. He certainly couldn't blast him the way Schurholtz (sp?) did. The story that George Ofman reported was also on WGN Radio(Kaplan) last night. So much for it being false and made up, if Kaplan reports it too. Big difference between reporting a false story and reporting private negotiations. The agents and Hendry are both big boys and would never be so petty to allow this story to get in their way. The Cubs aren't immune to trying to float stories out there themselves. Remember the Sammy tape of him leaving early? Did anyone ever actually see that tape? If so, please speak up. Wonder if the Cubs were just calling Sammy's bluff? Poor Oldcubsfan, Bruce got scooped again on a Chicago Cubs story. For someone who listens to Bristol Radio, you sure follow The Score alot. That's okay, I understand they have more than 70,000 listeners signed up to listen over the web. You have plenty of company.
  9. They have a new stadium(although fewer seats), higher ticket prices, bought partial ownership of their new radio flagship station and sold remnants of the old stadium. Jocketty's hands are tied. Larussa is disappointed because he wanted a payroll increase of $10-15 million over 2005 and won't get it. This sounds to me like the owners are going to maximize their profits for a few years and then sell the team. On the bright side for us Cubs fans, So Taguchi is their LF and Aaron Miles is small like Eckstein and a AAAA player at best.
  10. That he continues to work out in Arizona, but has not actually thrown a ball yet. Wood said that here at his bowling event. Hendry has said he will start throwing in January and that he may not be ready by spring training. Dusty's comments are just what Hendry, etc.. are being told by Wood and doctors. No one is saying how far along he is, but that he 'feels great.'
  11. You continually make me laugh at the stupidity of considering wins a marker for the efficacy and success of a pitcher. IF you were smart, you'd rip on his lack of IP as more of an indictment of his mediocrity, than his win totals. Because I'll take the 14 win 2003 Kerry Wood EVERY year for the next 10 years if he puts up those peripherals. What are you going to say when he goes somewhere else and becomes a perennial ace? That you were incredibly short-sighted? If so then continue on with your ridiculous, ignorant ramblings about how to judge starting pitchers. Must be all those characters from the Score rubbing off on you, at least I can only hope so. Kerry Wood? A Gamer?    This guy only shows up regularly to cash his bloated paycheck. As to pitching, he shows only he isn't smart enough to change his delivery and stay healthy. There's an old joke that a man goes to the doctor, makes a pitching motion and says "It hurts when I do that." The doctor says "Don't do that." Oft-injured Kerry hasn't taken the advice. Despite your constant attacks and obvious lack of baseball knowledge, Badger, I still want you to get a good job and succeed. I'm betting that you will do so. I'm also confident that Wood will never be an ace anywhere or win 14 games for 10 straight years.
  12. Does packaging these guys in two trades bring us a SS or 2nd baseman and a power hitting RF?
  13. 'IF Healthy' Wood will never be an ace here. Aces don't consider a 14 win season as their peak. He has become an unreliable $12 million drain on the roster. He is a right-handed Danny Jackson. Sorry Danny, I didn't mean to demean you. At least you won 20 games and a Cy Young.
  14. In 1998, I believe. I can live with Jack Wilson at SS, but if you want a smoothie try Nancy Wilson. But for a man who can really bring the lumber with him, I prefer Otis Wilson who has his own Louisville Slugger.
  15. Baseball is like most businesses, you won't get rich-unless you get to the top of the pyramid for your position. Or unless you are Joe Buck whose old man got him his job with one year of experience. Many people work in baseball because they love it. If you are young and already have a position that you love, pays you more than you need and you didn't have to pay your dues-congrats. You are one of the lucky ones. I have met J.P. Ricardi of the Jays a few times and he seems to really enjoy what he does. He is very outgoing and great attitude. I wish that Jim Hendry would be a little more outgoing and make himself accessible to the fans more than he does. He seems to be in the same class of reserved, laid back personalities as Jocketty, Cashman, etc.. I don't know if Theo Epstein was outgoing when he was with the Red Sox, but he has an inner confidence that's hard to miss.
  16. The builder of the Cubs farm system is jumping ship. I guess I'm like most Cubs fans in believing that our farm system is one of the best, but then I sober up. I wish we had middle infielders and OF who we could bring up now. I am willing to cut these guys major slack, but at some point Hendry and crew must answer for the terrible #1 picks.
  17. I'm sure the people in Bristol need more fans like you. WHat does that mean? What are you complaining about? You're listening to The Score and telling us what they say. Why do you listen if you don't like it?
  18. I'm sure the people in Bristol need more fans like you.
  19. Furcal is asking too much for my taste. As much as we need a leadoff man and a steady SS, that's far too much and far too long to commit. I would rather trade prospects and pitching to Tampa, Pittsburgh and get back Gomes, Wilson, etc..
  20. At no time did The Score report that Soriano was coming to the Cubs. In fact, they never mentioned Soriano's name at all. Certainly someone in Sugar Land can look into your computer for the source of these imaginary reports.
  21. GM Jim Hendry will be on with Murph on The Score(noon-2PM Central Time) Don't know exact timing.
  22. Looks like MLB and the Cubs say Eyre and Howry are on and Moore is not. And for the Cubs to add Mabry, someone must be moved from the 40 man. My original statement remains 100% iron clad. As to Greenburg, I feel he will be a journeyman 4th or 5th OF at best. He is no Jimmy Wynn, he's not even a Freddie Patek or David Eckstein. Smaller players need to do one thing really well-get on base and steal, outstanding fielder or have unusual power. He has none of them. don't confuse cubs.com with the cubs front office. They've put Howry and Eyre on that list because they are the hot signings and either have been added or certainly will be. They have no more idea what the corresponding roster mover were/are/shall be than you or I. and the -- just means they don't have a major league number. That's okay, you have company. Just reporting the news, boys.

  24. There's a difference between a dash '-' and an asterick '*'. The above are on the 40 man. Your punishment is to buy me some barbecued shrimp from Manali's in N.O. on my next trip.
