  1. That took two posts longer than expected.
  2. Some of these predictions sound similar to the guy in my softball game the other night calling out for a triple play. I hope the difference is that he was serious.
  3. For the sake of my keeper league fantasy team make this happen for at least 5 games. Who cares if he'll be atrocious in the field. I don't think this will really happen though. Soriano is too much of a comfort zone kinda guy and can see his performance suffer when he is outside of it.
  4. Way to oversimplify how it went down. Could Brett have handled it better? Absolutely. It sure would have helped after the past two seasons he said look guys I don't know I need time. Or better yet, when the media non stop asked him for the past five years about it he said something to the effect of hey, I'm not talking about that. My team will know anything first, etc. But that error in handling it by Brett, did not warrant how things were handled by the Packers front office and crazy Ted Thompson. Thompson was looking for an excuse to get rid of Favre from the beginning of his time there and ended up making it as messy and nasty as he possibly could.
  5. That is certainly an interesting take on the Favre-Packers situation. Certainly not based in facts, but interesting. What does the bolded part even mean??? The Packers front office pushed him out and were pretty darned vindictive in doing so. It was worse than how the Cubs front office throwing Sammy under the bus, because Favre hadn't committed the transgressions that Sammy had. If it is the case that he comes back with the Vikings and "unretires" it will be the case that he had to go through this whole "retiring" charade thanks to the Packers front office and the anti-trade clauses they put in when they traded him to the Jets. And Roast, in 15 years someone should tell you should retire from whatever job you have and that you can never do it again. I hope he's healthy and if he wants to play and someone wants him to play for him that he plays. Every athlete deserves that chance, even guys like Bonds.
  6. I don't advocate hitting a player but, I'm very much in favor of making Braun hit some dirt. A-hole wants to go out of his way to show up the opposition he then deserves every bit of getting knocked down. Well that and his cool guy Affliction shirt. He shouldn't be such a baby at "almost" getting hit since he's all down with the MMA crowd.
  7. I hope you didn't follow TT's advice. Upton has been playing pretty well lately. I'd drop Cameron, FWIW, he can be a liability in some categories.
  8. Lou actually was talking about driving the ball with runners on. He didn't say he wanted him to do it all the time. I am guessing that is to adjust to teams adjusting to him slapping the ball the other way. Sort of the opposite of what he'd tell a struggling power hitter. But as far as the HRs, I think he's just gotten lucky a few times and they happened to be in back to back games. Nothing more.
  9. There is talk of him throwing off the mound soon for teams that are interested like the Rangers, etc.
  10. Lawson and Ellington have officially declared. Not a shock, but they sure will be missed. I'd guess Ellington most likely looks to be a solid role player off someone's bench. Lawson on the other hand could be a very solid PG for someone, he's just the fastest player with the ball in the draft which makes up for his lack of height. link
  11. - D. Lowe unknown into double play first to second to left to shortstop, D. Ross out at second I don't know that I've see anything like this before.
  12. That has been changing daily almost. It is like they want to have enough variations that they can publish one as being right.
  13. 1 out of 162 v. National Championship? Hmmm, it is a tough call.
  14. Go CUBS! And more importantly... Let's go Tar Heels!
  15. Yeah, it's not a keeper so I think i'll just keep Nolasco. Anywho, with such a small bench i hate having too many RP's. That said I know at least two of the guys on that team will start the year on the DL so once I stow them away on the DL spots I may add one more. The problem as I see it with that theory given the stats that you are working with is that you are throwing away SVs and HLDs and are likely going to have the most Ls as well. Leaving you hoping for a perfect week in the other 4 categories to avoid losing pitching.
  16. If it is a keeper I'd take Felix. Otherwise flip a coin. I'm willing to bet one of them is hurt at some point this year. And you may want to look into picking up another RP or two. You could lose SVs and HLDs everytime out.
  17. On the off chance that we don't break Lou's personal win record, sign me up.
  18. It's better than what was kicked around - GIDP. It was done to keep hitting and pitching even because no consensus could be had on which pitching category to eliminate. It does make 1b and OF slightly more valuable.
  19. Seconded. That's clearly the choice in this division.
  20. I lucked out and drew the 1st pick and then A-Rod fell to me at the last pick of the 2nd round of an initial keeper draft in a 12 team H2H league where we can keep any 10. I did have my concerns about ARod's ability to finish a season (aka fantasy playoffs) but the prospect of having his production for the next 5 years or so was too much to pass on. This was the team I was able to put together. Hitting - R, HR, RBI, SB, BB, K, Fielding %, AVG, OPS C - Soto 1B - Chris Davis 2B - Mike Aviles SS - Hanley Ramirez 3B - ARod (Hank Blalock filling in) OF- Soriano OF- Jay Bruce OF- Milton Bradley UTIL - Shin-Soo Choo UTIL - Justin Upton Bench - Blalock, Billy Butler, Elijah Dukes Pitching - W, L, SV, HR Allowed, ERA, WHIP, K, QS, Holds SP - Dan Haren, Jon Lester, Joba Chamberlain, Clayton Kershaw, Jair Jurrgens RP - Valverde, K Wood, Chris Ray, Arrendondo, Cory Wade, Rafael Soriano What do you think? There are some risks both injury and developmental but I think I'm happy with how it turned out. I wanted to get Papelbon as the only truly elite young closer that you can pencil in for a long time. But some fool went, Lincecum, Santana, Papelbon as his first 3 picks. I didn't really want Soriano but he was by far the best value on the board after I took ARod on the other side of the turn thanks to being in a league with a bunch of Cardinal fans.
  21. Yeah, their are a limited number of businesses that can benefit from being in there. Taxi/car services are probably the most frequently used. I am opening my own law office and have signed up for a very modest listing in the yellow pages (which is what is most significantly used in my area) and was considering something similar in the yellowbook. But I am now rethinking that because it appears the only people on here and in my facebook network that use yellowbook are from the Chicago area. Statistics say that 65 all the way to potentially 85% of my business will come from referrals anyway so I'm thinking its not potentially worth it. Thanks for all of your help. Further comments appreciated.
  22. With what could be a need for HR and RBI, I'd start Burrell over VMart.
  23. Ok, I'm trying a little unscientific poll to help me choose my advertising scheme for my new business. Hopefully, this can become as epic as North Dakota v. Death although I somehow doubt that.
