  1. pre-game show Curse, Bartman, and $300 million all mentioned within the first 5 minutes of the first broadcast. Fight with Barrett and Lou's ejection may take another 10 to 30 minutes. That's a nice new hat that you got going on there, Cubman. 9:00 CDT??? That's ridiculous. Change the game time MLB, that doesn't fit my schedule! Court on Thursday early morning is going to suck balls.
  2. Anyone have any pictures of Woody celebrating??? That scene from WGN gave me chillls... Kerry you're the greatest!!!
  3. Permanent smile going on in this direction!! 8-)
  4. cop cars already there... i love it
  5. Rieu, screw you! Keith Law, screw you more! Well, I mean hey -- they've got a point. Even though the Cards didn't deserve it last year and became champions. However, I would point out that none of these other NL contenders are really screaming "great team" to me either. The entire NL is pretty flawed when you think of it. Actually, when you really think of it -- there's no truly great powerhouse team in all of baseball, not even in the AL. Some of the great teams of yore would probably just rape every team in the league right now, even the Yanks and BoSox. Who cares about their point... the schedule is the schedule and the rules are the rules.... this isn't 'Nam Donny. They are advocating getting rid of divisions and going with just a NL and AL (presumably they'd keep that separation in the teams), I don't like it and its not going to happen. More importantly back to these games... I'm gonna call some more big shots from the big 3 propelling us to the playoffs.
  6. Rieu, screw you! Keith Law, screw you more!
  7. We're going to win two mo freaking games and not worry about this nonsense.
  8. FYI, the fedex guy delivered my tickets when it was 1-5... then they rattled off that inning... coincidence? I'd like to think that they realize that I have my tickets so they need to get it together.
  9. I know JR quite well. He will be there for all three if they are important. I will be there with him Friday and Sunday. We will be the ones raisin' cane. God in heaven only knows how bad I want to clinch with a win in Cincy. The years of punishment I have endured listening to those freakin' Cincinnati meatballs... BTW, we will be haulin' it up there in the Caddy. They are built for comfortable travel on the highways. Of course JR's friend's name is crazy cooter.
  10. Why do you say that? What's the precedent for umpire suspensions?
  11. BERNIE F$#(*ING MAC. I hate him soooo much to this day.
  12. Can we take the bad mojo elsewhere? I hope we see the Cubbies come out and dominate tonight to shovel some more dirt on the crew.
  13. Yes. If the Cubs clinch, both Z and Lilly will sit. If they somehow clinch before Friday (which I see as possible but not likely) then my guess is that they will likely still give Rich Hill his start so he isn't waiting too long before his start in the playoffs. Personally, I'd probably pitch Z on Friday even if the Cubs clinch and give Hill and Lilly time off. I want Z on as close to regular rest as possible so he doesn't come out too strong, and Hill has thrown a lot of innings for what he's used to this year so he could use the break. I think that if they clinch on Friday, Zambrano would still pitch on Saturday. Lilly will be your game 1 starter (Wednesday the 3rd) and then Zambrano with regular rest for game 2 (Thursday the 4th). Although another bad Zambrano start would raise some question marks about the rotation going into the postseason. I would still roll the dice, though. Zambrano on 8 days of rest=not good. This is what I would do as well.
  14. Good to see there is an investigation. When it comes to how they call a game, I fully support the idea that whoever holds umpires accountable does it with no publicity, but if the claims against this ump and his baiting are true, I seriously hope they throw the book at him and make an example of him. Also, if it turns out Froemming knowingly covered for him, I'd like to see him get it too. I really hope mlb comes through on this one. As a former umpire I agree, normal umpire accountablity should be private. But in this case, if it is found to be true that he used profanity, the discipline should be publicized. It will be interesting to find out what Todd Helton has to say.
  15. For any of you that didn't get tickets, I got 2 SRO to Game 4 that I am planning to put up on eBay (I have a kid on the way so I could use the money). But I'd rather sell them to one of you, so if you want them let me know what you'll give. I'll probably put them up tonight if no takers.
  16. Is the rule that you can get 4 tickets per household per game?
  17. Just have to find a way to win. Besides, this will be Duke's first start off the DL correct? I'm predicting some long bombs from Soriano, Lee, AND Ramirez vs. all those lefties. Just wanted to bump my statement above after today's game.
  18. That's what I thought too.. C'mon El Caballo, do it for my fantasy team! screw your fantasy team.. do it for the cubs.
  19. I honestly wouldn't be surprised. For whatever reason they have the Brewers number this year. That's going to feel so very, very dirty rooting for the Cardinals. Nah, you're actually rooting for the Cubs. I'm hoping the Cards get all the losing out of their systems real quick and go on a mini-miracle run to try to get back to respectable at season's end and help us in the process.
  20. Thankfully one game against one of the league's best starters doesn't qualify as a slump.
  21. Just have to find a way to win. Besides, this will be Duke's first start off the DL correct? I'm predicting some long bombs from Soriano, Lee, AND Ramirez vs. all those lefties.
  22. Let's hear that beautiful song again tonight.
  23. protests don't work unless your a future HOF'er with a pine tar issue.
  24. Non-issue. What Lou did was completely legal. What'd he do... I was pouting and not watching.
  25. Ya know, after posting the topic I thought the exact same thing. I don't want to take anything away from the accomplishment but both teams played poorly. Game 2 of the dh was as bad as I've seen the team play fundamentally in a while. Yesterday's game should have been 9-0 by the fifth but poor hitting/patience with runners on (again). But that being said, Cardinal fans are the most obnoxious in the NL and come a close third to Boston and NY. Any time the Cubs can put them away AND take the season series, I applaud. It should not be enough to take the series from the Cardinals though. Gotta put the Reds, Bucs and Fish away to make the playoffs. Can't count on the Brewers to lose, the Cubs have to go out and get it. They should expect every game to be tough. Two of three from the Bucs and Fish Four of six from the Reds Anything less (barring a clinch otherwise) is a failure. I don't think we have to win 8 games to make it. Less will likely do. And as such, less would not be a failure.
