  1. Is it even possible for these two to happen simultaneously?
  2. except that bum's line dropped to 389/433/667/1100 after his pathetic "performance" yesterday BOOO! I've always been of the opinion that Soto needs to be DFAd the second his OPS drops below 1100.
  3. I'm pretty sure it's the same as when they sold playoff tickets five days before clinching - you're buying the actual tickets, and in the event that you have seats to a game they don't end up playing, then refunds go out for all.
  4. I like the idea of keeping Marquis on the roster and still using a 3-man rotation. The biggest benefit of the 3-man is that, assuming the Cubs don't sweep this series, I'll get to see Z lock it up in Wrigley. Also, Marquis provides a pinch-running option if Lou doesn't want to burn Pie late in a game or has already put him in, and he provides a PH if Hill is due up in the 6th or 7th and it's a bunting situation. Also, the long relief thing is good to have too, since Lou wasn't interested in trying Gallagher out for that spot.
  5. The holiday weekend for the NLDS was the only reason I was able to get tickets - I don't think I'll get in the mix for the NLCS. However, if the Cubs play in another series after that...
  6. Do you think this means Monroe won't be on the roster, or will he just be limited to PH duty? Also, has anyone heard anything about Daryle Ward? Wasn't he available to PH the last game against the Reds?
  7. I have to wait until Wednesday for another Cobs game? This is bullcrap. I really hope Z has his head together and comes out dealing like he has the last two starts. Normally in high-intensity matchups, Z is pretty much the last person I wanna see pitching, but it doesn't really get much more high-intensity than it was for his last start at Wrigley, and he was flat out smokin. Also, I honestly believe that if Z takes down Webb in game 1, the series is very likely ours.
  8. So, let me see if I understand this. If the Mets pull off a huge comeback and the Phillies and Rockies win and SD loses, then there's a 4-team playoff. And if either the Mets or Phillies got the WC, then the Cubs would play the division winner? I would think that would be the best possible scenario because of the extra games they'd have to play. Personally, I would rather see whoever the Cubs play be on a couple days rest as well. Odds are that it will be AZ, and my priorities are the same as mizzou's - I just want the games to happen on their scheduled days.
  9. That 0-1 curve for a strike from Hill gave me a semi.
  10. Dam skippy!
  11. Shattered bat RBI for Pie. I'd really like to see him come to fruition, and soon.
  12. Geovany Effing Soto.
  13. I thought about that, but I've decided that this will be my one weekend to just relax and take a break from the Cubs. They've determined my mood on a daily basis for six months now, and I'm enjoying the break. I do hope to see some of these guys make a case for a spot on the playoff roster and earn some playing time while they're there.
  14. I'll just add that I think it's awesome to not give a crap about a cubs game.
  15. Roast, the best thing about your pics being all blurry is that it's exactly what the scene would have looked like for those of us who would have been blitzed beyond recognition. Nice work.
  16. Geovany Soto.
  17. Get these pics a in the party theread!
  18. And you've got your computer next to you posting this? Care to do some play-by-play analysis? pics/video pls.
  19. Fred's wife's brother (or someone he knows) owns sluggers - Fred mentioned trying to talk to the guy about getting us a back room for the playoff game, but that's a longshot. Hell, I've been displaced for eight years, and I just want to be in Wrigleyville packed in somewhere with a crapload of Cubs fans, so I don't really care where we all meet. I just wanna rock out.
  20. Effing awesome.
  21. Same douche who posted all the other gems quoted from over there. Bitter beer face at its worst. Yeah. Somebody should tell that douche that they had their chances of winning it when the Cobs lost it all aganist the Marlins, where they lost 1 game to St. Louis and the Padres. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v39/SwedeCarlson/Smilies/douche.gif That's the best truck collision ever.
  22. The first story on the espn.com homepage is about the Cubs, but of course they couldn't say the Cubs win the division until they first said 1908 and $300 million. Blow me. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v483/cubbybear314/Cubs%20playoffs/Cubsin.jpg
