  1. This game thread is off to a great start, I see. C'mon, Cobs - put a stop to this noise and score about 40 runs the first inning.
  2. That really doesn't make any sense - this would be the perfect opportunity for the Cubs to make the playoffs AND still kick me in the balls.
  3. I think Ramirez is better and should bat 4th, but considering that it's in the Great American Smallpark and that Floyd has been a stud this month, I don't mind the way that looks. The part where Soto isn't starting still sucks, but beyond that, not bad.
  4. Also...anyone know approx. time on the Sunday games? Assuming we make the games, I'm trying to figure out how/when to schedule flights... I've already got a flight out early monday morning. If game 4 doesn't happen until after Sunday, I will be beyond crushed.
  5. mmmm..... Johnnie Walker Black. Wait. Isn't getting home from school already an excuse to start drinking? Love Johnnie Walker Black. My father in law bought me Johnnie Walker Blue and Gold. Blue was awesome. The bottle didn't last long. At the going rate for a bottle of blue, my mom has made hers last for more than 12 months now. I have tasted exactly half a shot, and it was glorious. I've never even seen gold - is it higher on the totem pole than blue is? Gold is in between Black and Blue. My Wife and I travel a ton so I always pick up a bottle of Blue for my Father-in-Law, and he does the same for me. So good...I can typically get Blue for about 119.00 bucks when I travel. Thats a great price. Ive seen it for $175. Wow. I need to get out of California. I've never seen it for less than $200.
  6. Whoa. Good point. Yes, this is true. It was a featured mlb.com story not too long ago. If game 4 happens any later than Sunday night, I'ma be PISSED.
  7. Someone quoted that in the game thread. Brenly is awesome.

  9. More importantly, what was his opinion on the relevance of season wins as they relate to post-season success when the 88-win Padres, 97-win Mets, and 95-win Tigers all failed to stop the comedy central's lowly 83-win representatives? How does the 6-team central compare to the rest of the league in terms of schedule? Do they play more intra-division games than the rest of baseball, or do they face each of their division opponents fewer times each than the rest of baseball?

  11. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v483/cubbybear314/Random%20Cool%20Shit/00catchingcrap.jpg DLee is sick of catching crap about his power numbers.
  12. Well if the unthinkable happens, then be in Wrigleyville for games 3 and 4 next weekend, because there will be a crapload of us there, and I most certainly plan on being blitzed.
  13. Just because I'm the kind of jerk who can't help but to rain on a parade of optimism, there is no excuse for getting swept by the Marlins either, but they still found a way to pull it off.
  14. Agree 100%
  15. In order to accomodate Trachsel's presences, the Cubs gave up a roster spot and four chances for someone else to start. Yes, that's entirely too much.
  16. A "friend" of mine that moved to GA a while back is a Mets fan, and he called me tonight drunk and I tried to explain pretty much this exact thread to him before it was posted, but I failed miserably. Though I was pretty sure that the Cubs could still wind up facing any one of the five teams remaining in the other two divisions. Crazy stuff!
  17. I think that would be the most fitting scenario. The winner of the NLC doesn't deserve to celebrate, and it's only appropriate that if the Cubs clinch tomorrow, they will do so in the clubhouse by watching the Brewers lose again. Also, I wanted to keep my original avatar but still do something for the Padres, so here was my compromise :D
  18. Could we get a picture of this going in reverse...into a sign that says Playoffs? It's a still picture, so it could already be going in reverse and we wouldn't be the wiser.
  19. Now for a little cubs.com fail at Sesame Street mojo: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v483/cubbybear314/Murray.jpg Does this mean the guy on the left is the manager?! WOOHOO!!
  20. "Good Thing the Brewers Suck Too" by the band I'm going to start this offseason.
  21. I thought Cap has dropped his last 10 decisions, and that the "Cap appearance = Brewers loss" streak is actually longer.
  22. I hope the Cubs win tomorrow and that the game goes fast enough that the Brewers-Padres is still early. Either that, or I want the Brewers to lead by a few in the 6th or 7th, only to come back and lose 30 or 40 minutes after the Cubs are done. Nothing would be more fitting than for this division's winner to not get to celebrate on the field, but wait until later and watch their competition lose in order to clinch.
  23. This man speaks the truth. This is somewhere along the lines of how I feel. It makes sense, but when all is said and done, it won't ease the pain. At all. I agree with XZero. In 2006, when the Cubs were 0-for-the last five months of the season, I was able to get it all out of my system, walk away, and not care about how badly that season blew. That's when I was actually able to not be upset by a string of September losses. This year, Cubs win 10 of 12, I score playoff tickets, their lead increases to 3.5 games, I buy plane tickets, they're six games away from storming into the playoffs on the heels of a VERY successful September. No amount of rationalization, alcohol, or heroin injected into the forehead would dull the pain if the Cubs were to lose out and miss the playoffs.
