  1. I don't know how it goes. Bregman, Jamo, Seiya and Amaya will play in WBC. Only PCA is missing?
  2. His change up is almost as fast, but it drops and move towards the arm side like a regular change up. I think his curveball acts like what you described, a quite bit slower than his fastball/sinker/change up.
  3. B+ If they got a good closer, I would've given A. I like Palencia, but he should be a backup closer this year. He could be good in a couple of years, though. I'm happy that they didn't trade Nico and Shaw (or any other core players). They added Bregman, which is nice. I'm not sure about Cabrera. I mean he's really good, but not sure about his health. We'll see. I don't know if they'll win 92+, but I think this is a better team.
  4. Either way, it's a good thing for Ben Brown. I still think he can be good.
  5. That's good. He started throwing change ups last year. Did he give it up? I think change up is a better choice for him. If he's still trying to improve his change up, and adding sinker, he might be awesome.
  6. I heard Shota threw a 93mph four seam today. I guess that's a good sign this early in the spring training.
  7. Thanks for the info. I didn't know he played in Japan.
  8. What is Bauer doing? Retired?
  9. Yeah, I guess, especially if Gallen can bounce back. Like I said, the Dbacks were nice enough to offer him the same amount as the QO. They could have offered a $20 or $21M deal, and more than likely, he took it.. Without the QO attached, he should have a better chance next year, if he bounces back at least a little. If his regression continues, which happened for 2 years in a row, he would be screwed. Just like Shota, Gallen has to prove this coming season. I really hope both of them bounce back. I love Shota, and I don't dislike Gallen.
  10. I don't know, but I think Gallen was looking for longer term, maybe 3~5 years. My guess is nobody offered him over $18M AAV. The Cubs might have offered him a 3 year, $18M AAV with opt out after the 2nd season. Just my guess. He should have just taken the QO, so people didn't need to waste time.
  11. Wow, good for him. I was just thinking he would get $22M, if Dbacks are nice to him.
  12. Or, Rengifo bounces back big time this year. I'm pretty sure Shaw will be better. If not this year, he will be in near future.
  13. Oh, I see. You said "could be just as good as Shaw next year." Like I said, and you said, Rengifo could be just as good or better than Shaw "next year" (means this season, I assume). I've been against trading Shaw. Shaw has the higher ceiling, and I would be surprised, at least a little, if Rengifo will be better than Shaw a few years from now. Shaw is under team control for many more years. I'm not arguing with you here. I'm saying it, because, a few people said "Trade Shaw. It's easy to find a replacement."
  14. It wouldn't surprise me, either, but I don't know if he's going to be a utility player.
  15. I don't know why Levine is so confident. Obviously, he knows something that I don't. At this point, I'm more like "if we get Gallen, great. If not, fine."
  16. After further review, the runner was safe?😁
  17. There was a guy called The Cubs Dude a few months ago. Your first post sounded like him. That's all.
  18. I honestly don't know. You seem pretty confident. I just don't know how to predict these things at all. They seem pretty random to me, and the exceptions are not the general trend. But there may be players more or less likely to age better than others, and that's what Hoyer seems to be making a bet on, but it's still a matter of probability and not certainty, so we just have to see. Hoyer is far smarter than any of us here combined and his success rate with significant signings has been astonishingly good, which gives me some comfort he knows what he's doing here. Nobody knows for sure, just an educated guess, I guess. That said, more than a few guys think Bregman ages well. I still like the Bregman signing. I said this in the past, and I know some of you guys preferred Bo Bichette. I didn't want Bichette, because of his defense and the vibe I get from him. I just felt Bichette wasn't the right guy for the Cubs. We got Bregman, and let's just hope it'll work out fine for us. I thought and still think Valdez could be a good fit for the Cubs, except for his personality. Bregman or Valdez? I voted for Bregman.
  19. I admin the Dude is a legend, even though I put him in "ignore" and he was here for 2 weeks? He left a big impact.
  20. I'm the one who said Jamo had a good chance outperforming Gallen this year, as Rcal10 knows. Jamo's last 6 games + the playoffs last year, he looked awesome. He found that his change up was effective last year. Somehow, he fixed his HR issues that he had earlier in the season. (Shota should be asking Jamo about the HR issue.😁) OTOH, Gallen's regression started two years ago, and got worse and worse, except for Aug, 2025. I think his last 4 games or so at the end of last season, his ERA was more like 5+. I just don't have much faith in Gallen bouncing back much, especially if he goes back to Arizona. If the Cubs sign him, Gallen might bounce back well, though, because we have good pitching coaches/lab + our defense. TBH, if I'm in Gallen's situation., I would sign with the Cubs for a 2yr contract (or opt out after 2 seasons). I have better chance bouncing back with the Cubs. At the same time, I think he should have accepted the QO for the money. We'll see how it goes. Don't get me wrong. I'm not a Gallen hater. I'm just frustrated by his performance in 2025, because he was really good in 2022 and 2023, and he isn't that old. I like good pitchers, as long as they don't play for the Dodgers.😁
  21. For 5 seconds, I thought it might be the same guy. Then, I realized the post was too short. The Dude usually writes at least 6 paragraphs. 😁
  22. Bad first half? If I remember correctly, he had only one good month, Aug. Sure, Sep was better than the first half, but he wasn't at the end of the season. In 2022 and 2023, he was like top 5 pitcher in the league. He wasn't as good in 2024, and got a lot worse in 2025. So, if we're talking about just this year, there's a good chance Jamo (if healty) will be as good, if not better than Gallen. I agree with you about the last part. If the Cubs can fix him, he would outperform Jamo. If Gallen can go back to what he was 3 years ago, he'd be our ace easily. If they sign and fix him, that would be great, but I'd be fine with passing on him. Probably, I'd be happier, if they sign him (but not for one year), as long as they don't trade Jamo, at least until the deadline. That way, we could see who's performing well and healthy. At the TDL, we could trade one of the SPs for a bat, a closer or anything that we need at the time, if most of our SPs are healthy. We'll find out soon.
  23. I agree with you, but I think more like 40~50% chance. Gallen has to bounce back quit a bit to outperform Jamo. The main reason why I don't say over 50% is Jamo's health. Most likely, Gallen will pitch more innings than Jamo. Gallen's performance started regressing after the 2023 season, and got much worse in 2025. I was surprised, when Gallen didn't take the QO. Looks like he might be going back to Dbacks for a less than $22M deal. I think the Cubs won't sign him, unless it's at least 2yr, less than $18M AAV.
