  1. Seems to me, that is because teams front-end the power hitters in very recent times.
  2. It would be great to have another starter, but I don't get the assumption that Javier Assad can't start a fine number of games, now, thanks.
  3. I agree with your sentiments, but tying an aging Bregman's salary around the team's neck seems simply nonsensical. Look at the youth coming up that can play 3B nicely. When Shaw gets back it will be embarrassingly obvious. Look at ballplayers overall who get to Bregman's age and onward. "Past performance is not a guarantee of future results." Good investors know that well.
  4. Jason Heyward a decade ago... Alex Bregman now. Seems Cubs management listened to people who write articles in fan sites.
  5. Serious question: can the Cubs trade Bregman? And get anything?
  6. Time to find alternate employment, it seems. Or, keep him around as a mop-up pitcher hoping he improves late in the season again. But there will become lots of pitchers to fill roster spots in the next few weeks, if they don't keep getting injured.
  7. Thank you. As for Ramirez' weight, I think fat is overrated.
  8. Zackly. Remember, remember, those days in September...
  9. Trade him and free up that payroll. Use Shaw, or Shaw and Ramirez.
  10. As you so likely know, SimLeague Baseball doesn't provide this season's players till after the season and it is far from perfect, but it is quite good and I think it will provide a more accurate result.
  11. Bethancourt's 2024 with the Cubs was pretty tremendous in both primary phases. He deserved consistent opportunities last year, preferably again with the Cubs. Raw numbers don't tell all the story, thank you.
  12. Just by the looks of him focusing and springing that swing, I bet he will cut down on strikeouts enough to hit the bigs bigly. (Now watch the trade rumors by bloggers and pundits.... yearning for 30 year old or contract-season stars.) #eyeroll
  13. Did you tell your classmate that visible stars are from 4.4 to 15,000 light years away? #JustAsking In this age when pitchers are coached to blow their arms out, along with other body parts, what pitcher isn't a big gamble? (Mike Marshall, where are you?)
  14. Yes... seems the Cubs' current RBI leader has a BA under .200. And we don't have anyone named Chris Davis on the team, bless the hearts of each man..
  15. Psst. It would be so nice if you used actual black letters in your typeface, and thicker.
  16. Should I say it again? I don't think the Cubs should have spend all that money to Bregman to watch him likely decline over the years, per how most ballplayers perform. Yes, Matt Shaw should be playing full time at third base.
  17. Yes, and Shaw and for that matter, Ramirez have a lot of upside... plus a minor leaguer or two that can play third.
  18. Ethan Roberts being sent down. What are they trying to do? I trust not, wreck him.
