  1. Couldn't agree more. But 0.500 is a big enough of a goal now. Post season and World Series are the 2 outer layers of the cubs season that I had to cut off and abandon. The 0.500 layer is the much thicker layer and since being a Cubs fan unfortunatly is the 'normal' goal for this team. I just wanna see the Cubs play good baseball. Do I wish they won evertime? Yes will htye, no not this year. But who's to say that good baseball, hitting and pitching can't be played by our Cubbies this year? I say it.
  2. Fiver your post made me laugh. C. Milk might be right but what if C. Milk is wrong? Say the Cubs take 3 of 4 from the brew crew or rattle off nice back to back winning streaks. I bet I wouldn't be the only idiot starting positive Cubs threads. If after the May and June the Cubs had the Cubs get to 0.500, which there still is time too, that that would be a huge accomplishment. I honestly don't wanna hear why they can't. I have a truck load of "why they can't". But why can't they? If the pitchers gave quality starts If the Cubs provided some good and early run support If they keep their defense going If the Pen does it's job, which it seems they have in Howry, Eyre, Novoa and Dempster. Then the Cubs can get back to a level of 0.500 baseball this year. Maddux always pitches good when he faces his brother Zambo is the Ace nuff said Marmol has shown he belongs at this level and is getting better and better. Prior is getting better as well. I see Prior 1-4 after his next game. Last night Marshall upped the anti for the starting pitching staff along with Am Ram calling them out too. I see good things happening with the bats. The Cubs team will figure out lefties this year. Starting with this series.
  3. Let's see...this dark age started in 2003 game 6, then in 2004 when Hawkins gave up a 3 runner to blow the save to the Mets, then 2005 with Woody going down yet again. 2006 saw darkness with the snap of a couple of D Lee's bones. But all things come to an end.
  4. Yes it's the third thread and it seems every time I start one the Cubs find even worse ways to lose. 0.500 by April 1st 2007 is probably more correct.
  5. The slippery slope is this. The Cubs pitching has failed due to trying to be perfect because poor offense. The offense has been just god aweful, but with D Lee, Barrett, Jones and JP getting in a grove, runs are going to be scored once again. Am Ram will alway be a side-kick, never a main hero. The defense as a whole is respectable. So if the offense gives 3 runs a game, the pitchers can give quality starts and the pen does what it's suppost to do sans Fat Glendon. then I see the Cubs fighting for respectability once again. (hears.. off in the distance the "neigh sayers" stampeding toward the thread.") 3 runs a game? That's far worse than they've done so far, on their way to a .369 W%. There is nothing respectable about that. We aren't naysayers, you just have no concept of reality. Actually, I do have a concept of reality, just arguing for the Cubs to win on a webboard made for the Cubs takes quite an effort this year. Gleening any positive from this years Cubs team has been diffiuclt to say the least. So Instead of Dusty bashing or rehashing and retyping why the Cubs stink I have decided not to. I have decided that this dark age of Cubbiness will pass just like the others. So if 0.500 is still reasonable this year, why not put a date on it and lets see.

  7. Indeed it does. More leash and more time for Dusty and the Cubs to make things hard for Hendry. Yes one win, will it lead to 2 wins and maybe purhaps 3 wins? Dare I say 4 wins for the first time all year. Wow what a horrible thought for us Cubs fans to think about. Of coure Dusty will not be the cause of that either. The Cubs will be lucky of course.
  8. 1-0 one step closer to 0.500. Marshall and the staff did well. Can't remember the last time the Cubs won a game 1-0. ...and no we can't stop this. Yes the last thread of this kind the day was in August but now it's in September. If Dusty has 'boys' they'll be pushing harder now that the fire is directly on Dusty. I see the Cubs finishing in a flurry before the ASG and pissing every Dusty hating Cub fan off because Hendry will not pull the trigger. He He. Typical Cubs. You hate them and wanna quit then they pull together some good wins and look good and then slap you down once again. As for 58-104 no way. Neely I stated the Cubs would be closer to 0.500 then 0.300, as of right now it looks good for your guess, but it isn't over.
  9. Dusty and the coaching staff too. Why is it that teams that fire sale or fire the manager get a boost and win some games? So wouldn't it be grand to see Dusty get walked and have the new manager take the Cubs back to a respectable place like 0.500? I wanna see some good baseball from my team not what I have been seeing. Septmeber 9th. Not much time after that for the Cubs. I hope the starters get some quality going. They have the bats back.
  10. Typical responses. I'm just stating that by September 9th the Cubs could see 0.500 if they win each series. Will they? Probably not. I like my team to win and I'll cheer them on to win everytime. I believe the worst is over.
  11. For those that just can not let it rest. IF the Cubs win each series Cubs would see 0.500 Sept 9 th. This would include a split with the Cards in a 4 game series. Question is will Dusty still be around? I betting no. Chris Spiers, Von Joshuea, Kelly, Piniella, Whomever. The one game I saw over the weekend was the Cubs, Sox final game. I watched the Cubs HIT. I wondered if this was suppose to be the team we should have been seeing all year. The pitching still wasn't sharpe though.
  12. I look forward to seeing Bynum and Neifi saving the Cubs this weekend. Great point. I see it as a possitive. We do have a fast team. Now if they could just get on base to use the speed.... The best thing I saw in Cleveland was the starting pitching giving good starts. Maddux was iffy in the first but then shut'um down, Marshall was good as was Zambo. It all will begin with the starters (- Wood)
  13. My thought was this: Wood and Prior are delaying because they don't want to pitch for Dusty Baker or Rothchild anymore so they both are dragging there feet. Woody doesn't have anything technically wrong with him and niether does Prior. It's all a mistical soreness and phantom pain.
  14. Well they took the Cleveland series! Now a day of rest, then on to Minnasota. So far my plan is working perfectly.
  15. It does seem that way doesn't it? Maybe it is me! Not a prediction: IF the Cubs win each series starting with Cleveland today, then they could possibily see 0.500 by Aug 2nd. Would Like like to see that? Yes. Will it happen....ahhhh sure. willing to bet the farm on it? No way! I'm a Cubs fan, not stupid!! Good, so you aren't going insane. Thanks for clearing that up. Winning every series between now and then would be a huge accomplishment. But it would also leave them very far from contention. Yes but it would. But what else do we have. I hate to see the Cubs lose. I've been in a bad mood for over 2 months now!! So instread of sending out Dusty hating vibes I sending out positive team vibes. Just win. I can careless if Dusty was the manager or Sammy sosa was. Just win. I honestly blame the players, Not Dusty compeletly.

  17. Pratt, Hawkins, Patterson, Hill, Choi...shall I continue? Hawkins and Patterson maybe, but Pratt and Hill were broken before that. Choi wasn't exactly headed for stardom either. Dubois, Remlinger, Farnsworth, Sosa.... Dubois was a AAAA player, Remlinger and Sosa were getting old, and Farnsworth hasn't exactly been ruined -- he's just good every other year. okay, Stoney, Chip, Veres, Dave Tumbus, Yosh, Wellingmeyer, Kelton...
  18. I think the person said they'd be closer to .300 than they would be to .500, which is basically their pace right now (.380). Didn't you already predict that they'd be at or within 5 games of .500 by the All Star Break? Can't remember the exact thread entry but it was something like, if the Cubs could be within 5 games of 0.500 when DLee gets back along with Prior and Wood etc.... then the Cubs have a real chance. I believe the thread was something about regression toward the meandirected at the Astros, reds and Brew Crew. BTW after starting that thread the Cubs lost their next 6 of 7 games in a row.
  19. Ouch, but anything is possible!
  21. No way! My guess is 0.500 (+/- 0.050) (Yes engineering variance) Wait-are you actually saying they're going to be .500 by August 2? That is the very bold/(crazy) thing to say yes (+/- 0.050). If they win each series starting today with the Indians. If they drop a series, then they have to sweep the next series. It's the Win 2. Lose one Tango to 0.500! We know that's what would happen if they win every series. But are you actually predicting that will happen? I guarantee they don't win every series between now and then. +/- .050 is a huge copout Maybe..., But, it was in response to someone saing the Cubs will finish at or below .300. The second use was sarcasm + math = some what funny (+/- 0.050 giggling). So if we drop a series and sweep the next my prediction will still be vaild. If the Cubs win each series they would be at 0.500. This statement is a fact not a prediction. If they did then around Aug 2nd they could be, at 0.500 for the season. If they won the next 16 games they would be at 0.500 in early mid July. I'm actually trying to give some padding by saying if they take each series. Plasuable, by Aug 2nd. But likely?.... (Look Pigs ...in the air....)
  22. Pratt, Hawkins, Patterson, Hill, Choi...shall I continue?
