  1. I wrote that as a joke until I realized it would probably come all too true.
  2. People, settle down. It's only two runs. It's not like the top of the 9th already.
  3. The Cardinals bullpen is the weakest it has been in years. There is plenty of time left and Carpenter has thrown plenty of pitches. Let's not give him another notch on his Cy Young resume.
  4. Was that the last at-bat, this one, or his next one?
  5. I would rather have Jones than Juan Ercarnacion. The Cubs and Cardinals outfield problems would be switched if Hendry offered two years instead of three.
  6. I prefer the game chats because it's everything is saved for posterity. I knew Jones was not good after he survived 52 rounds of my fantasy draft. I hope he is like Derrek Lee or Aramis pre-2003: Horrific April and early May that masks an above average rest of the season.
  7. This would be a perfect time for Jacque's first hit.
  8. I just got back from Shea Stadium (rained out and construction on almost every subway line) to find that the MLB preview is up. I don't get paid until Tuesday but it's great to see Carpenter already in trouble. Anyone have pitch counts?
  9. My fantasy team has started Carlos Zambrano, Freddy Garcia, and Andy Pettite thus far. I don't know how I let Barry Zito get away.
  10. Group 1: A-Rod Group 2: Dunn Teixeira Group 3: Bay Tracy Wright Group 4: Helton Holliday Wilkerson Sizemore Bonus: B.J. Upton
  11. Williams might not be the gem in the LaTroy trade. It's like how Murton worked out better for the Cubs than Nomar did.
  12. I can imagine this conversation: Jocketty: We like this Mateo kid. Who do you want? Hendry: Can Pujols play right field? Hello?
  13. The best thing about keeping Pagan (besides his name) is the fact he brings plus speed. I assume he's the fastest Cub now, even faster than Pierre.
  14. If Hendry wants Soriano, he'll get him for a lot cheaper than he would have at the deadline last year. Todd Walker and Wellemeyer might do it if the Cubs pick up all of Soriano's contract.
  15. I forgot about Jerome Williams. The good thing about the depth is that there is a lot of trade bait in a worst case scenario.
  16. I was hoping that Kerry Wood would be ready by Tax Day. Now I'll be happy if he makes it back late May. It's looking like this will be his last season in a Cubs uniform. I'm going to miss him. Let's hope that Angel Guzman can stay healthy and capture some of that Dontrelle Willis lightning in a bottle until Wade Miller is ready. I hope that Rich Hill is really developing his other pitches besides his curveball as much as I hear.
  17. I'm confident that Cedeno will get a .300 OBP for chump change.
  18. Soriano is viciously overpriced at $10 million compared to Walker and Hairston. I would like to get Vidro if he's healthy. Huge if.
  19. I will consider it Mission Accomplished if Simontacchi is ever traded for a no-name A position player with any semblance of patience.
  20. There will always be the Royals, Pirates, or another small market team that could take him. If the Cubs pay a little over a million for two years, Jones will only be a $4 million a year outfielder. It's not like the Cubs would be trying to trade Bobby Higginson at the height of his ridiculous contract.
  21. There have been many times where I'll watch the Cubs and think, " I wish I could quit you!"
  22. http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/article/inside-der/ This article on pitcher's defense shows why Hendry might hate Walker so much. Only one pitcher converted a lower ratio of ground balls into outs in 2004. He's been below average every year in the league. Lee and Choi had great range. Neifi has been at least average defensively. You're going to sacrifice A-Ram's lack of range for his bat. I wouldn't have a problem with downgrading Walker's bat for someone like Orlando Hudson if we got an impact bat. This offseason's free agent market feels like the Bulls getting two top five draft picks in one of the weakest drafts ever.
  23. Arthur Rhodes = Jason Michaels. What would an 80% healthy Wade Miller be worth?
  24. Sorry, but I have to change the subject real quick. Frostwyrm, what play is your signature from? I've been following it for months.
