  1. Thanks to everyone for the refuge from “Kris Bryant is broken forever!” Twitter. As if the prospect of someone hitting .240 with an .800 OPS can’t get better after a month.
  2. John Sickels updated his top 100 list over at The Athletic. Miguel Amaya moves up from 89 to 87. Nico Hoerner goes from 95 to 81. https://theathletic.com/941047/2019/04/24/john-sickels-updated-top-100-prospects-list/
  3. A time traveler from April 2016 sees Heyward’s stat line and shrugs.
  4. Jason Heyward didn’t hit his third home run last year until June 6th.
  5. ...I bet Heyward’s output today exceeded his 2017 WAR.
  6. 14 calendar days into the season and Jon Lester still leads baseball in batting average.
  7. Fewer ignorant displays by individuals but the Cubs went whole hog enriching the pillars of racial inequity.
  8. 1) Retaining a wifebeater 2) Defending overtly racist owner 3) Partnering with propaganda factory for game broadcasts 4) Brad Brach headlining free agent acquisitions
  9. For some reason I can’t get this dabynsky tweet to post: http://twitter.com/dabynsky/status/1095660410194350080 ode to a nightingale translation
  10. The perfect offseason in Venn diagram form:
  11. The Cubs should have a 24 man roster until Addison is cut or his suspension ends. Addison was my favorite player. Bought his jersey over Rizzo, Bryant, or any of the other 2015 luminaries. MLB only suspends people with mounds of evidence. The teams should suffer as well. A teammate or executive might have intervened earlier if they knew relief pitchers would have to pinch hit in extra innings. Yes, it’s Addison’s responsibility and he should take the brunt of the punishment. This is gross and needs to stop. Tip of the hat to people who predicted a situation like this when the Cubs signed Aroldis Chapman. May not be a direct correlation but here we are.
  12. I’ve always wondered what it would look like if James Joyce was born in 1980 Naperville.
  13. Tulowitzki would need to pass the Cubs physical. The team with the most extensive medical information just paid $38 million to walk away.
  14. Thought everyone might get a kick out of this: https://theathletic.com/701793/2018/12/09/jake-peavy-nearly-traded-from-san-diego-padres-to-chicago-cubs-revisited/
  15. The Cubs won 95 games and allowed over fifty fewer runs than last year. Would winning the division be optimal? Of course. Win tomorrow, get a day’s rest, then gear up to beat the Brewers. It’s not like the Cubs have to face the mid 90s Braves. Hell, maybe Yelich cools down to a .450 wOBA.
  16. The 2003 Tigers entered their last series at 40-119. They ended up wlsweeping the division leading Twins. We’re just hoping the 2018 Tigers can win one. We got this.
  17. Someone please check my math but I believe the Brewers need to go 10-6 if the Cubs go 9-9. A win tomorrow makes that Brewers 10-5, Cubs 8-9.
