  1. Heh, JoBo has been a complete waste to the Marlins! Seriously though, I don't think it's time to dump Dempster simply becuase nobody is going to take the contract at this point and he's got the no trade. Am I entirely confident in him as a closer in 2007? No. But I don't think I have to be. If he falters, Howry, Eyre, heck, even Wuertz could step in. Kerry Wood is the darkhorse. Has anyone ever looked at how closers performed on bad teams in the past? The inactivity has got to factor in.
  2. Sigh. We do realize that if the above happens we will resign Pierre. No way Hendry takes the slap in the face of letting him walk with nothing back, after what we gave for him.
  3. Can't forget that some teams may view his extra horrid season to be because of playing for the Chicago Cubs, lol. So they may think he has a month long tear in him, heh. TRADE! TRADE! TRADE!
  4. Of course, not knowing who on the Phillies was already exposed to and cleared waivers, we don't know who all we could get. How about this, instead of worrying about what we get back, lets saddle Glendon Rusch's contract onto Philly. Pierre and Rusch for "who the hell cares".
  5. How about we send both Angel Pagan and Matt Murton to winter ball this year to play center field. Yeah yeah yeah, I know, Murton doesn't have what it takes to play center or whatever. How about we actually substantiate that with results instead of just saying that because he isn't the fastest guy on earth. In this scenario, you could let Angel and Matt share righties with Matt getting the lions share but taking guys off who you just don't think he's going to hit well. Angel takes every single lefty start from Jacque. Sign a big bat in left, and Soriano for second. Soriano Barrett D-Lee Aram C-Lee Jones Murton/Pagan Izturis Yeah, not a bad lineup. We could afford it too.
  6. Ugh, we didn't need anyone else who could play middle infield (The Riot should be getting every start that Ronny or Arthritic Piece Of Crap doesn't get). Why not just bring up Restovich?
  7. Ok, I don't get this. First of all, that's a huge assumption to make. Second, you already HAVE a good hitting catcher. Why move Barrett to LF, and get another good hitting catcher? Just get a LF and be done with it. True. "not such a horrible idea" is quite different from "the best idea ever!". They'd most likely be better off getting Craig Wilson to play left, a big bat for RF, and moving Jacque to center.
  8. I just hope that if we upgrade at second base that we give Ronny a fair chance to beat out Expensive Arthritic Piece of Crap next year for shortstop, because I think he could pretty easily do it.
  9. I don't think it's such a horrible idea if you move him to left and replace him with a good hitting catcher. Now, the following scenario assumes that Michael is capable of playing left. Sign Bengie Molina Sign Carlos Lee, or trade for a corner outfielder Sign Alfonso Soriano. Move Barrett to left Move Jacque to center Lineup would be Soriano Barrett D-Lee Aram C-Lee Jones Molina Izturis Not bad. Molina would probably cost 5 million, Carlos Lee who the heck knows, and Soriano who the heck knows.
  10. Even better, if you're desperate to turn Barrett into offensive production, you can dump Pierre, move Jacque to center, sign a big bat for right field or make a trade, and move Michael to left field. Might take a little winter ball to get it down, but I think he could handle left.
  11. Now just unload the Expensive Arthritic Piece of Crap for, well, who the hell cares, and we're golden...
  12. Or maybe instead they gain the chance to see what O'Malley has, and if he can put a string of quality starts together, you just might have an overvalued trade chip in the offseason. What if he has a strong run to close the season and could be moved to a team for a bat, who are fooled by his performance? Most likely he gets shelled and you end the experiment, but I don't see how getting him one more start stunts anything with those other pitchers. Heck, give Z an extra day off since you know Dusty will make him throw 850 pitches...
  13. Celebrate good times, come on! **shakes groove thing**
  14. Can't believe some don't think he deserves a second start. You just don't let a kid throw eight innings of shutout ball and then not give him another chance. I mean, he wouldn't be the first pitcher in baseball history with an iffy fastball but who just could get guys out. Is that probable? Not by a long shot. But we lose nothing by finding out.
  15. Ugh. We could wind up seeing that mid-80's FB hitting that short LF porch at the Juice Box several times tonight. Not agood place to give him his first ML action, IMO. Didn't do quite so bad today. :D
  16. I think we're getting close to just shutting Mark down for the year and letting the rookies continue to audition for 2007...
  17. What's wrong is the fact that I read your "impersonation" Bruce, and if I didn't know it was such I would have believed it as an exact quote. Ugh.
  18. If we didn't bring back Pierre, I'd sign him in a heartbeat, however to a one year contract if possible.
  19. Which is why I'm shocked the Cubs didn't, lol, he'd fit right in. Dr. Andrews could go ahead and clear the surgery time for the offseason.
  20. Not unless he has his velocity back and we can get him through waivers, as is he'll just wind up knocking one of the kids out of the starting rotation.
  21. If it's Milwaukee, that would mean we didn't claim him. Which would mean Jim Hendry should be fired, immediately. Because one of the few good things about being the closest to last place with the most money to spend is being able to get first crack at talent like this. Even if there's no hope, you still have to at least claim him and ask "what would it take of players not on our 40 man, or these guys who cleared"
  22. Heh, bet you could have Jones for nothing if you took Mike Hamptons contract. Not that, you know, i'm advocating that, lol.
  23. I say Bruce stays put until the Tribune comes calling...
  24. And if Hendry was offered him for not much in return, and turned it down, he should be tarred and feathered...
  25. I'd be all for Choi. Who doesn't want a (near) .800 OPS sitting on the bench when possible?
