  1. As someone who grew up with the red as the road sweater, seeing Bedard get his first wearing red on the road has a special touch of nostalgia to it.
  2. There it is!! Bedard!!
  3. Is it, though?
  4. They shouldn’t be tired, but my gut says to take the Bruins -1.5. I’m gonna say Hawks take the loss tonight, 4-1 final. With that said, hope I’m wrong! Go Hawks!
  5. I’m taking 5 @ 100m all day, everyday. But, I’m with Rcal, I think he gets $25ish per, at which I’m still in on 5 @ 125m.
  6. Is it just me or did Alonso become (soon-to-be) 29 really quick? Anything over 6 years is a ginormous pass for me.
  7. Thank goodness we‘ve gone back to the “retro” style parks with some of the new constructions. I visited several of the old cookie cutters. Busch, Riverfront, Fulton County. I’d like to revisit Camden. My memory of it is so shoddy. I did see Cal play in that game, however. That’s the one memory that has stuck with me from the experience.
  8. Camden is on my list to revisit. Like I said, different time in my life. I wasn’t there to really appreciate and soak in the experience. Of the parks I visited in my youth, the one that I have little desire to go back to is Minute Maid. I’m pretty sure it was still Enron at the time I saw it. It was mid-July, roof was shut, and that place was a giant greenhouse. Also during the time of the Killer B’s, so they’d constantly play that obnoxious buzzing over the PA. Worst baseball experience I’ve ever had. My brother is a Braves fan and we’re planning a trip to see Truist when the Cubs are there in May. There’s even a section there that serves Old Style according to their MLB food and beverage page. 😄
  9. No surprise, Arvid Soderblom will be in net tonight in Boston. I really hope one of these kids plays well enough to unseat Mrazek.
  10. Perhaps you're right. I just gave myself flashbacks of that awful Rockies WC game. Ugh.
  11. There was a thread on PSD where members were listing their favorite ballparks. Fans of all teams were chiming in. I was shocked at the number of people who listed Camden #1. I had been there at sometime in the 90s and, different time in my life when I wasn't the most observant in my youth, but I don't recall anything that particularly stood out that I would've ranked it the best park in baseball.
  12. With the new format, I'd almost rather play the Wild Card series than sit and wait in the Divisional round. Baltimore swept, Dodgers down 2-0, Braves looked flat in Game 1.
  13. Man, I knew he had a history of injuries, but I didn't realize how bad it really was until I went back to look. Yikes.
  14. What a bad ass. lol
  15. Nice line from Seth Jones. I couldn’t watch the game, but I’ve been highly critical of him in the past.
  16. There weren’t too many changes from last year. Bedard and Kochinski are the only two skating in their first games. Hall, Perry, and Foligno have been around a long time with various teams.
  17. Nice job by Vlasic to step into the open ice there and take the puck to the net. Lowkey veteran play by a young kid.
  18. Well, 1 for 2 tonight on bets. I had a good feeling that Bedard’s first point would be a 2nd period assist. Unfortunately, the only prop bet for a 2nd period assist required it to be on the man advantage, so I took it.
  19. I need a PP 🍎 this period.
  20. It’s an accomplishment. The kid is only 19.
  21. Lost in all of the Bedard talk, Kevin Korchinski made the opening night roster. I’m excited to see what he looks like.
  22. Some Connor Bedard action for tonight... -148 to score a point +100 to not record a point I think the kid finds the scoresheet once tonight. If you're willing to make a bold call, some of the methods of his first career point are tasty. For example, to score a 2nd period powerplay goal is +2700.
  23. I'm working until 10:30 tonight, so I'll miss the game as well. But, I will be at the home opener, so I'll at least get to see Bedard's first game at the UC.
  24. I expect he'll be paired with Taylor Hall for as long as they can keep the two together. They was an incredibly shrewd move by KD. It's weird to think that Hall has become an underrated presence in any lineup, but he has. Injuries and bad luck have played a pretty big role in his career, but at his very best and healthiest he's been a 90+ point player. He was once the prototypical power forward for the league. Speed, scoring ability, and great along the boards. The fans are gonna love Hall.
  25. I considered starting a betting thread for my fellow degenerates. Via FD, I'm taking Bedard to win the Calder (-125). There are a few other Bedard specific bets, of which I'm taking the over on goals (31.5 @ -113) and the over on points (68.5 @ -113), as well as Bedard to record one hat trick (+105) on the season. My personal prediction for Bedard is 81 points. Health willing, of course.
