  1. “Philosophical differences” was the reason given. Rumor has it Shildt didn’t care much for computer analytics in the game.
  2. Not somebody who has already professed their strong dislike of me. lol Hard to find on this forum of upstanding young boys, I know.
  3. It takes discipline to win like that. You have to become very good at blocking out the noise and knowing which bets you honestly believe in and which you are trying to talk yourself into. That's probably the hardest thing to get down. Bored betting will also kill you and it's a habit you absolutely have to break. If I'm going to the Blackhawks game and feel confident Bedard will score that night, that's great, play it. But if I'm going to the game and no bets stand out but I just want to have a little fun and play something, that's where you start to gradually give back your winnings. It can suck sometimes when a night of sports is on and there's absolutely nothing to bet on, but if you want to win consistently you have to give up that kind of thinking.
  4. Brian is not an unbiased 3rd party.
  5. LMAO!!! NO, you're definitely not. And you don't give a horsefeathers about braggadocios touting on the internet... after you do so in the very first sentence of your post. 🤡
  6. Because I have the balls to stand behind my bets? Put up or shut up. $1,000 starting balance. First to make it to $10,000 wins the other's remaining balance. We can nominate a 3rd party to referee and make sure we both play fair.
  7. Disliking anyone because they don't agree 100% with your political views is incredibly stupid.
  8. Hard pass for me, but my fear is that he feels like the kind of move we've made over the last several off-seasons.
  9. https://www.si.com/mlb/cardinals/prospects/cardinals-acquire-highly-intriguing-slugger-from-cubs-after-strong-2023-season-scott7 Didn't see this posted anywhere, but got a good laugh from it.
  10. I don't see this as "duplicating the Joe move" as much as making an obvious and significant upgrade. Ross was staying unless Counsell became available. I give major kudos to Jed for being ballsy enough to make that call.
  11. Its ultimately on the manager to pull the right strings to re-ignite a stagnant offense. The harsh truth is that Ross' team dropped 6 of 7 against Arizona, costing the Cubs a playoff spot.
  12. Ross absolutely blew it down the stretch. 7 games against the Diamondbacks and we pretty well handed them a playoff spot.
  13. The pitching market is solid and I suspect we’ll come away with one of the top names. The corner infield market is incredibly weak. Given that’s where we need to upgrade most, it makes perfect sense that they’d see trades as the more feasible route to take.
  14. I’ll add to this, we’re the Cubs, and we have the luxury of being able to break the bank for an Ohtani. I think we’re all willing to get at least a little reckless when it comes to a FA like that. For depth, you absolutely spend sensibly and if things get foolish you pass.
  15. Didn't know if there was some seedy history that I didn't know about.
  16. What makes his face a step up in punchable face-ness?
  17. Exactly my thought. It was the right move then and it’s the right move now!
  18. Thumbs down for not understanding what the gambler's fallacy is. How long do you plan on following me around here? I'm willing to put up my betting successes/failures against anybody else here.
  19. Appreciate you, Strom! Best of luck to you. 🫡
  20. Something tells me returning to Chicago won't be Soler's top preference...
  21. I hope Estrada is retained. If he can just put some healthy seasons together, there's a very good ML reliever in there.
  22. Milwaukee only exists to be a thorn in our side during the regular season.
  23. Estrada made about a dozen or so appearances over the last two seasons. Particularly last year, he flashed some really good stuff. Original Cubs pick. He's still only 25, so chances are good he'll reemerge somewhere as a quality BP arm. Burdi and Young are both forgettable.
  24. I didn't have a horse in this race, but happy for the Rangers. 2011 was tough to watch for a multitude of reasons.
  25. Man, this one sucks. I always liked Bobby Knight.
