  1. PCA so far in his career has either been on fire or dreadful. Seiya is similar. Nico is my Cubs MVP this year. Productive and steady pretty much all year on all sides of the ball.
  2. Accurate except i think they have a solid chance if Tucker can at least DH and hit like normal, which is still a huge question mark
  3. Just a reminder that "back tightness" isn't an actual thing like all the other "tightness" injuries Cubs players have had this year, like Tucker's "calf tightness" that magically turns into "calf strain" and doesn't heal for weeks. Why don't they be honest and say "Cade has back soreness".
  4. They should celebrate but it depends how hard they go at it. They also have to remain professionals and still be capable of doing their jobs. If they're a bit off the next game after the clinch whatever, but they got swept in a 4 game series including 2 shutouts. If guys are indeed taking the gas off the pedal then at least ask for a day off and get fresh for playoffs. Who knows what's really going on but it looks like a bit of sh*tshow.
  5. Cubs lead the NL in position player fWAR, and 3rd overall. Streaky hitting but elite baserunning and defense. 20th in pitching fWAR. Pitching gets a hit on xFIP because of the defense. But we've fortunately had some elite relievers for the late-inning guys but some bad relievers relievers in the bottom half of the pen.
  6. Tigers have a 3 game series vs Cleveland starting tomorrow.
  7. Kirk shooting has triggered a civil war within Cub fandom.
  8. Well good news is Taillon has been strong since returning. If Boyd doesn't look good in his next start(s) he could get the bump in the first round.
  9. Have to at least assume they'd want a RHB like Santana off the bench to PH. Really hard to see Ballesteros not on the team. If the playoffs started today I probably start him at DH vs RHP over Seiya if Tucker is back. No Tucker and Ballesteros is almost 100% in the lineup vs RHP. If Tucker walks I assume at DH/RF they go with some combo of Seiya/Ballestero/Caissie/Alcantara. They probably also sign some kind of bench RHB OF.
  10. Identical twins apparently. One throws LH the other RH lol.
  11. Rooting for Detroit and Cleveland to get into the playoffs.
  12. I watched them when they were good, which was before the summer. It was awesome. I also watched them when they were average since then. I'll let them heal and rest up and do their post-clinch thing in prep for the playoffs.
  13. I refuse to watch these games out of respect for myself.
  14. I guess it's kinda nice to know that without Tucker. Seiya, or PCA hitting we're still about a .500 team. That might not change any time soon though. I think we probably need 2 of the 3 to hit to have a deep playoff run. Unless Moises et al can step up at DH. Our depth would be solid if Castro was hitting.
  15. This team needs the real Tucker and Suzuki to show up in the playoffs, plus Boyd. I don't really care if the team limps a bit the rest of the way, they pretty much have 1st WC seed in the bag. Not really concerned about Shota but those other 3 aren't trending well. I'm also a little concerned that PCA will let the emotions get the best of him and will try to do too much once it's playoff time, especially on throws and baserunning.
  16. If they wanted to be sure to not have Suzuki get thrown out that's a really bad send. However, I wonder what the estimated success rate is on a send like that? It's very likely not over 50%. But I suppose it's possible for it to be higher than Turner or Swanson getting him in if he stays at 3rd? Not the shortest throw from the cutoff but it's not like a SS can't throw to a base from their position, so still a bad send IMO. If the throw came from the OF on the fly you could argue for the send.
  17. Soroka threw nine 4-seamers today: Let's hope if he's needed to start he could average around 93 mph, which would be around his season norm.
  18. I'll give them 1 hangover game. Was neat to see a complete game, didn't think those things happened anymore.
  19. Maybe he's missing some spots and leaving more pitches in more hittable locations?
  20. Well there's no powerhouse team really, so we have as good a chance as anyone to win the WS, besides the 4 teams that skip the 1st round that is.
  21. Are the Cubs running Boyd into the ground? If he can't get Pirate hitters out then that's an issue. 6.64 ERA over the last month. No idea why they're having him throw 80+ pitches this start when he clearly doesn't have it and might be hitting a wall.
  22. Credit the pitching in the 2nd half for keeping this team afloat and kept them in games with the slumping offense.
