Maybe the Ohtani contract works out, but that's a lot of money for a 30 yo coming off of surgery. He's likely worth it based on marketing alone, but I can easily imagine this contract becoming an albatross.
There was an article on the Athletic today talking about the fact that Ohtani's camp wouldn't even release the name of his pet dog. I'm not sure the secrecy thing is being overblown at all
Soto not being an option right now could be as simple as Jed called and they said the deal starts with Horton or PCA. It's hard to take much from this without way more information
I can't say that watching the Mets flaming collapse hurts my feelings at all after all the offseason worship of Cohen. The Padres joining them is also fine with me
I'm open to a thread the needle trade at this point. Wasting resources on rental relievers isn't ideal. Trading Stro for a controllable 3b/1b and hoping Taillon fills the void could work for me
It's a tough decision. I could potentially live with dealing Bellinger if it got you a solid mlb ready piece for this year and bring up PCA. It's risky to try and thread that needle, but the wins keep driving that price tag up on any piece.
