Yeah, I liked the Bregman fit last year when it seemed his market cratered and we just acquired Tucker. Don’t really want him on a 6 year deal at this point.
Celebrate my team winning while also wishing someone else hit the home run. I never said I want Shaw to fail. But I can’t help that I’m completely indifferent to his personal success now.
I think it’s cause you want to root for the guys on your team as much as possible. That’s what enhances my engagement, anyway.
I, personally, can’t really cheer for him now, knowing he felt so deeply connected with such human garbage
Oh, I disagree with none of this. But I also can’t help but long for the days when I thought we had one of the better ownership groups in baseball and a PBO that didn’t need his hand held during his entire tenure. I know this won’t change. Hope (however small and credulous it is) is really all I have left as I simply did not think we’d be in this position again so soon.
To clarify ahead of time, my doom and gloom isn’t about this season or the stretch the team is in right now. It’s about us being a big market team and the people in charge seemingly hating that fact.
This, I agree with. My only hope would be a large enough embarrassment would change the philosophy of the offseason from one of the two in charge. I know it’s not gonna happen though.
Oh I’m fine with them getting in as a wildcard and going on a run. My fear, is we get in, get eliminated immediately and Jed and Tom use that playoff appearance as a declaration that the way their running this team is right.
They both just suck. Tom needs to forget the damn luxury tax, and Jed needs to stop worrying about the 2032 Chicago Cubs team. This is maddening.
I find it very amusing that Jed can’t even build a division winner with a 200mil payroll.
I think I’m at the point where I’d prefer seeing them just completely knocked out of playoff contention. Nothing will change either way, I get that, but there’s a better chance of something drastic happening if we just completely horsefeathers the bed as opposed to squeaking in as a wildcard and being immediately excused.
