  1. Both are the shits on D
  2. Could we have purchased a decent player/pitcher for one season inplace of paying those turds?
  3. Rcal, Could Christopher Morel be a version of a very young yankee 2018 model of miguel andujar? Don't shoot me !
  4. I'm kinda scratching my head about this. I wonder why the Dodgers signed Kershaw earlier than tomorrow? But then again; nothing the Dodgers do should surprise me.
  5. Not Chapman at his expected $ and not at the cost of a 2. Belli I want. Just expect Boris to pull a Philadelphia or Cali halo out of his butt.
  6. Ouch, scratch that idea. Just looking at his health over the years, since 2018, he's had 12 reported injuries over that time frame(not sure of severity). It's been speculated the artificial turf in Toronto is taking a toll on his legs, probably why he didn't jump on their offer before he opted for free agency?
  7. Signing Chapman would require cubs sacrificing a compensatory pick. I'm unclear as to what level/quality of a draft pick we'd lose. Like maybe someone could list a comparison draft pick we made last year? I only ask with the thought if Jed were to sign Chapman to a really really short deal, would it be worth the loss?
  8. Did I miss the announcement about Belli signing? It's being talked here like certain happening
  9. I think legally they can't mention the player by name and say his skill set doesn't interest us. I quite possibly could be misremembering something I read?
  10. I'm curious to watch Boston from afar and see if Breslow follows the Jed slow play, build it from the teardown philosophy. And see if Boston fans can handle/tolerate a 5 or 6 year famine.
  11. Hahaha 😆 I've now adapted my cub ambitions to expect life in the slow lane. Some of us older grey farts sadly, will probably pass before the next new up and coming GM will be christened to adorn jeds vacant throne. Fortunately for those of you who still have fuzzy peaches could possibly experience decades of Heartbreak otherwise known as cubdom
  12. Isn't it more adventurous and exciting to white knuckle it thru the regular season inorder to hopefully slip into a playoff situation? Skin of the teeth is the way to go!!! I mean it would be ho-hum to actually dominate this division, wouldn't it?
  13. I was kinda shocked to read that Contreras finished 2023 with a 3.4war, considering what trainwreck he was to begin the season.
  14. It makes too much sense/ they won't count towards the 40 til activated when deemed healthy. (Which might be right I'm line with playoff push?)
  15. Woodruff/Liam Hendricks I'm hoping on one of these broken toys to be added to the 60
  16. Thank you for posting the link
  17. One quick question, does cubs $ contribution to players retirement fund count against the lux tax? I googled it and it said 2023 cubs payroll equaled 233m if you included their retirement fund contribution?
  18. If Cubs are interested In signing stanek, something tells me they have the inside track. I think one of his parents might be a cubfan?
  19. My fingers crossed too.
  20. In what world does 80 wins make a wildcard??
  21. Let me ask this question to someone who is fully engulfed in the baseball analytical world. I'm an old school baseball fan who grew up with the Wrigley's and their prejudices and their John Hollands and the peanut vendor annointed gm Salty Saltwell. How does fangraph and zips predict wins, (please readers digest version so I can understand). For instance in a make believe world, say the Cubs and cards we estimated to each have 80 wins, and if the cards were to make believe signed an uninjured ohtani who hits and pitches in 2024, the Cards win estimation climbs dramatically.well over that 80 win mark now. Somewhere some how somebody's wins has to decrease in the division correct??? I mean these wins have to come from somebody else's expense? Since ohtani came from the AL does everyone in the NL lose a percentage in the win column? Please explain?
  22. I feel You're 100% right. Right now we wouldn't be considered even a wildcard contender as currently constructed.
  23. Haha, ain't no better than PECOTA
