  1. Keep in mind, Dom Smith will count 3.5m once activated when deemed having a healthy hamate. Thus lowering $ available for Belli. Just curious too, who will be a casualty from the 40 man?
  2. We get a game tomorrow!!! Seems like only yesterday, the anticipation of a sure to be exciting offseason. Boom goes the dynamite, Jed jumps all over Craig Counsell. He appears out of no where to be the Parker Brothers Monopoly Man. This signing promotes visions of grandeur. Dreams of remarkable spending unseen since Days of Theo. Cubfans salivate about what might be - what may come? Speculation runs rampant, cubs will assuredly blow by the first LT barrier and some here have the bravado to even suggest (in whisper tones) the second LT barrier will succumb to Mr Ricketts & Jeds new founded all-in philosophy. We begin with hints of an Alonso, followed by a Glasnow. Dare we mention Bieber and Clase joined by Naylor? If not Naylor, we'll just sign Rhys Hoskins to a very reasonable pillow deal. Next we hold our breath on, oh my Gawd, OHTANI. All the while we take for granted Belli bombs will return to The National Landmark in 2024. Still, at this much later time, there's this unique conglomeration named the Boras 4. Which is a hybrid molded from Montgomery, Chapman, Snell and the aforementioned assumption of a returning long term cub to-be, beloved Belli. We get a game tomorrow! I cant wait to view all the new pieces in Jeds revamped toybox.
  3. Jed is keen on participation trophies.
  4. On the bright side, when considering Morel's challenges at fielding thirdbase. In the history of MLB there has been only 2 thirdbasemen to exceed 600 errors. I don't think Chris will play long enough to reach this plateau.
  5. Im Jealous of you
  6. I'll be watching
  7. Very well stated. I can see Boras: should I feel threatened the Cubs have shifted and moved on from Belli to smith/Peralta? NOT / I'll call jeds bluff
  8. Sounds painful
  9. My all-time favorite moment was watching the ring ceremony at Wrigley when the billionaires were smiley and giddy over passing out much deserved jewelry to the family faithful while wearing dungarees and sporty shoes
  10. Cynical - yes. But you owe me kudos even if 4 out of this group are in the same lineup in 2024
  11. Imagine going to The Landmark spending hard earned money on Tickets for your Cubfan family, consisting of yourself, spouse and 2.33 children. Then imagine walking into Wrigley buying concessions, then sitting, viewing the ivy, while filling out your scorecard as dictated by Jeremiah Paprocki. And you hear the starting lineup consisting of names Dom Smith, Davey Peralta, Nicky Madrigal, Miles Mastroboni and Jorge Alfaro with an opener Drew Smyly. It scares the devil right out of me.
  12. Yesterday was a reality bursting day. We learned that the image of 36 yearold Davey Peralta can still appear on the mlb network wearing a photo-shopped cubby cap. We became aware Jeds 2 year man crush bromance for Dom Smith was consummated last night. And I was informed that my heart-healthy Cheerios is laced with chlormequat thus inhibiting my chances to bear fruit now that I'm in my 60s Is nothing in life sacred?
  13. I like to spew drivel to spark conversation and you, more times than not, post very articulate well thought out evidence based replies. Thank you so much for your input. much appreciated
  14. Dom Smith is recovering from surgery in January for a broken hamate bone. There's a good chance he won't be ready for opening day.
  15. We are in year 4 of a complete tear-down rebuild. And we're projected to reach a lofty 80 win season in 2024.
  16. I wish Jed would've signed them earlier so he could've had them at the cubbies convention
  17. Hey, intelligent spending
  18. Can't wait til they christen Drew Smyly the 5th starter
  19. Rcal, I was predicting Tommy Pham a week or so back. LMAO I guess Jed did better?
  20. At first blush, I'm liking the redsox new gm better than the whitesox new gm. Not that it matters here much. Whenever it happens, I'll be interested to see the young pitcher breslow trades for from jed.
  21. And Breslow signed Hendriks?
  22. I'm a witness
  23. Closer warming up? Jed, that was one helluva long 7th inning stretch. Closer warming up? Perhaps Jed believes Closer by committee means multiple deals coming soon?
  24. Like Neris?
