  1. Yeah, I agree with this. 200 PA is where I try to break up minor league seasons into thirds I guess. Take Alcantara for example, he has a pattern of always struggling at a new level early. It's probably a combination of weather and adjustment but once he figures it out, we have also seen a pattern of sustained success and he really takes off. AAA is the one level I like to see much longer sustained success. Michael Busch is the first name that comes to mind for that strategy. He got, what, some 1200 AAA AB's? I've always wondered how much that has played into his success with the Cubs. I think we really underestimate the value of AAA sometimes.
  2. At least wait till the summer. Everybody loves Chicago in the summer. I think the Cubs have just as good a shot as anyone. NY has the same problem with April weather, same with Philly and Boston. LA is LA so they always win there and SD has payroll problems. I dont see a fit in Texas. Houston just traded him and I'm not sure if Texas can afford him or not while paying Seager, Semien, Degrom etc.
  3. I think Tucker will stay in Chicago. I think this is the guy Jed convinced Tom that he wants to pony up for. The books are fairly clean post 2026. We really just have Swanson and Imanaga right now I believe. The upper levels of the farm are also stocked with cheap talent to build around Tucker with. PCA, Shaw, Cassie, Alcantara, Triantos, Mo Baller, Horton, Wicks, etc. There is a path here to sign Tucker long term and have a flexible payroll long term. We have a lag between our upper levels minor talent and lower levels right now in terms of development, so I dont think we can afford to let Tucker walk if Tom wants to prioritize "sustained success" or enter rebuild 3.0. I cant imagine he wants another rebuild. Tucker just creates so much flexibility for 2026 and beyond both FA and trade wise.
  4. I'm all for the slow development of these guys, Personally, I love that guys like Cassie, Alcantara and Triantos are getting hundreds of AB's in AAA before coming up. I'd like to see the same thing occurring with guys like Hernandez and Rojas. I think Christian Hernandez could be on the same path here. If there is one thing I do like that Hoyer does, its that he's patient with development in the upper levels. I think fans as a collective really undervalue the experience of consistent sustained success after failure at a level because we want these guys to succeed to benefit the pro team.
  5. Wiggins fastball looks so nasty. The movement is terrific. I really hope his command pans out. He just looks like an ace in the making if they can iron that out. Cant wait to see Cade again in non crappy weather
  6. Im gonna be cautiously optimistic about this. Tendonitis isnt worrying yet. If he responds well to treatment I wont be worried. Luckily, I like the Cubs pitching depth and we have trade chips to add an arm at the deadline.
  7. Ugh. Dont like that.
  8. Somewhere 1908 is lecturing his class about Christian Franklin's bat and its potential today after that.
  9. Nice. Hope the weather is good for Horton tonight.
  10. Im expecting the bat to pick up once it gets warmer out and he has more reps too. Hes got too much california in him
  11. Hes holding his own right now. Once he starts barrelling the ball more hes gonna be a great hitter
  12. God its nice having at least a quality catching tandem again.
  13. Any reports on how Wiggins looked? I like that line
  14. Hodge needs to be the closer. He throws with conviction. Every other reliever we have is scared to throw strikes
  15. Pressley sucks. Its obvious to everyone Hodge should be closing yet we will probably still trot Pressley out there for another two months before they make the change.
  16. Looks like a really crappy day today. Seiya was booking it there.
  17. Nice! Horton looks like he's 80% of the way back to himself. Hope to see the command come back with a few more innings under his belt and no rain. The stuff looks filthy
  18. He seems pretty down to earth. We havent really gotten a chance to see that side yet. God please extend him
