    Yeah I get you. So he could back up Busch at 1B at times against tough lefties, mostly. It's the one thing were missing on the bench imo. It is nice he's the lefty that can back up all 3 INF positions, especially since Berti is RH. I like that quite a bit.

    Agree. I'm more than ok with keeping Workman over him. I think the backup CF role issue is overblown. Tucker and Suzuki can play there in a pinch and we have Alcantara right there in AAA and we know he is capable of plus D out there along with tremendous upside with the bat. I wish Workman was a righty but we can work around that since he plays great D. I cant recall, have they played him at any COF spots this spring? I recall him maybe playing RF a couple times.

    I was at that game that he tore his acl at sitting right along the 1B line. For some reason I just recall hearing this loud pop and then he was on the ground after running to 1B. The entire stadium was silent. I was a big Patterson guy at the time. He's such a massive "what if" for me.

    I have to imagine Brujan doesnt make it through waivers either. Id like to keep him at AAA but I imagine a team that can offer him more playing time to try to establish himself would pick him up. He'd fit well on a lot of "rebuilding" teams.

    They need to send Detroit a low level prospect or something. Workman should make the team imo. I get Brujan offers more versatility defensively but his bat is vomit worthy.

    Has anyone seen any of Casey Mize this spring? Looks like hes had a good one. I wonder if this is the year he can get back to his 2021 form. This would be his second year back after TJS too.

    I cant wait for the rest of the NL Central to absolutely despise PCA as he robs hit after hit and showboats.

    I saw that. If thats all it takes to extend him that contract should be in front of him right now. Ricketts is too cheap to do that type of deal though. I think he gets north of $400 mil though

    I think he is going to be DH/1B right away to begin the season and they are hoping to shift him to 3B midseason. I read that somewhere, I know statcast loves him.

    I totally forgot about Michael Carico. I was pretty high on that pick. Would love to see him move up quickly this year,

    I agree with you here. He consistently has quality ABs and he has natural power. If he can increases his contact rate after an offseason of strength training, I dont think he needs to sell out contact for power to potentially hit the 30 HRs mark this season. Fangraphs had him at 2.3 WAR last year and Baseball Reference had him at 2.8 WAR. We know he had a short adjustment period to 1B defensively but once he settled in he played GG defense or close too GG defense the rest of the way. If he can up that contact and keep that level of defensive play, I dont think 3.5-4 WAR is out of the realm of possibility, but settling in around 3 WAR would be terrific. Really excited about his potential this season. I have high expectations for him.

    MLB has been trying to increase African American participation in baseball for years. The socioeconomic gap needs to be closed before any type of meaningful change will occur in that department in my opinion. Its just far easier to get scholarships and ROI in football and basketball then it is in baseball at the moment. That could certainly change here in the future with NCAA baseball programs having access to NIL money. Personally, I think MLB wide they do a really solid job with diversity in the sport. The best players in the game all draw from very diverse cultures and backgrounds. Obviously the majority of it comes from Latin America but I don't think there is much you can change there. Teams already invest a ton of resources into international scouting. What else can they do? Teams are always going to put the best players on the field regardless of skin color (as they should). I'm not sure what else the MLB can do to increase African American participation. They already promote players like Aaron Judge and Mookie Betts a ton. They should obviously keep increasing investment in youth baseball leagues but I think that isnt exclusive to African American initiatives. I dont know what the answer is.

    Yeah. I loved the strat for midrounds. Find a tool, see if you can develop the player. I think we all know the Cubs were lacking a bit of power in the farm. Hopefully, one or two of these guys contributes in the long run somehow.

    Yeah. Give me Workman over him 100%. At least he can play great D everywhere and has power. Brujan is so bad. I'm not too concerned with our depth at CF if PCA gets hurt. At worst, Tucker can play there in a pinch and we have Alcantara waiting as depth in an emergency.

    Brethrowr was part of that run of guys that the Cubs took that year that all had massive raw power, right? I remember liking that strat in the mid rounds.

    Very excited about his start. This could be his big monster year. Just keep working on getting lift on the ball.

    I really like Workman so far. Hope they keep him over Brujan. He's got power and plays great D all over the diamond.

    Reminds me of when they signed David Peralta and Garrett Cooper last year. Just depth bench guys that they can add for ST and see if they got anything
