    I think handing him that big AAV contract in the first place? Hoyer is one of the few GMs that actively seeks to hand out high AAVs to get players to take shorter contracts but most other big markets typically tack on extra years to contracts to bring down the AAV on mega contracts. Also the multiple player options are wildly player friendly. So even though its short term, the contract is pretty untradeable without the cubs eating significant money.

    That comment from Hawkins TT posted is pretty clear that they are going to give Shaw a shot at winning the job. One year stop gap that can get benched halfway through the year is what they will probably pick up.

    They could still trade Hoerner if they slide Busch to 2B and make Bellinger full time 1B. if they can somehow add prospects to get one of the mariners young starters id do it. They seem reluctant on moving them but i bet theyd do it for the right deal

    With the Yankees pivoting to Walker i wonder if Hoyer overplayed his hand with Bellinger. Maybe was asking for too much when he should just be a salary dump at this point. Or maybe Cubs are close to trading him elsewhere

    Yeah just did some reading and it looks like thats the case with them presenting him teams that are interested in trading for him and him saying he would waive his NTC for a team where he is not a full time DH. Have to say, i have say no idea what the hell jed is doing
