  1. i like to think that the coaches could actually do something beyond just saying "hey don't swing at bad pitches."
  2. the a's have mark ellis at second, and swisher and johnson at 1b/dh. i don't know why they'd want walker.
  3. this should be in rivalries so i wouldnt have to read it
  4. Should've gone after that pitcher instead. it's probably eric milton
  5. Would it involve heroin and needles and foreheads, or something much worse? that's up to him! i trust his judgement, whatever he goes with is sure to be great.
  6. AramisRamirez needs to make an appearance in this thread and tell us what he's going to do if this really comes to pass.
  7. OH GOD NOW THE CUBS ARE GOING TO SIGN BYRNESBRAIN
  8. I don't think you get it. The blowup occured after somebody gave a smartass reply belittling another poster's opinion. He wasn't expressing opinion, he was acting very rudely. And some people just so happen to choose the exact opposite opinion of the majority, on every issue. Now, "the majority" doesn't always agree on everything, far from it. Despite a perception that some "longtime posters" just sit around agreeing with each other and knocking out the dissenting voice, that's just not true. I would have to be described as a longterm poster, or at least among the most frequent. And I've argued with just about everybody here. I've gone from complete agreement on certain topics to complete disagreement on other topics with people like Tim, 1908, BBB, Cuse, JC, Sulley and many others. There isn't a trend of one group siding with each other and ignoring others, despite what some wannabe martyrs want to believe. Furthermore, if your opinion is that it made perfect sense to send Wood out when the team stunk and you knew he was injured and needed surgery, you deserve to have people come back at you strong with the opposing view. Anybody can feel free to express a dissenting opinion. But I don't think they have any right to cry "unfair" if and when the majority comes back to rebut. Calling anyone "insane" who believes that wood should have pitched out of the pen is labeling a group of posters, something I got reamed oout about when I refered to the "corey appologists" back in my rookie days as probably is "martyr's". I don't agree with that opinion, but if we're going to have rules on this board, everyone should have to follow them. Just because someone has 14000 posts, and "knows" all the mods doesn't mean they should be able to say things that others can't. I have been seeing this trend all over this board. Even I, can get away with saying certain things that I got reamed about as a rookie on the board. That's plain wrong. saying the insane bit is labelling posters is a real reach, in my opinion.
  9. yeah, we'll just improve at fourth base and longstop and oh wait those aren't real and in actuality we have no more positions where we have the chance to get better and we certainly aren't going to acquire a secondbaseman who is more productive than walker, so why trade him?
  10. Link Bradley and lots of other people were tendered contracts by the A's.
  11. yeah, that's pretty much what we're going with at this point. i sure wish theyd get around to letting me know whats happening with Games at this point though.
  12. freedom jones is a true american, don't make fun
  13. i think everyone should join me and post a picture of his or her own personal reaction to the signing. if this goes well, we can break this off into its own thread. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v386/edstevensiscool/johnnyMAD.jpg
  14. pierre neifi lee ramirez jones barrett murton cedeno it's entirely conceviable that we'll have all of two starters with an obp over 350 next year. the upside seems like 5, at best.
  15. Tree, if you somehow include a vicious critique of this signing in with the Wood surgery question at the Peoria stop, it's now up to $75. make it 90 (tickets are 15 dollars) and you're on seriously, you can write what you want me to say and everything. if i have to submit a question, ill just write something about how much i love pierre, and then read my own thing when i get up there. let's do this. It's on. Its so on. My sister will want to come see, so I'll just have her bring a tape recorder for proof. Although, I should note that if this plays out like I think it will in my head, you'll just be able to read about it in the paper the next day anyway.

  17. does anyone know where i can buy some heroin?
  18. HOORAY!
  19. dont forget steve stone guys
  20. if people make poor arguments, others will point them out, regardless of post count. the idea that it was okay that wood was pitching out of the bullpen because the cubs were about to come back and make the playoffs is a poor argument.
  21. Easy, Jack Jones has a career OBP of .285, and plays a dead man's RF. Of course, he probably has a great contract playing in 1884... cpatterson20, always good for a laugh except this time. do you get it? you spelled his name wrong, so I found the REAL Jack Jones. it's brilliant I say, absolutely brilliant. hahahahaha you may say that i spelled his name wrong, but when he plays for the cubs, there's exactly zero chance that i won't be calling him jack jones. unless i come up with some french equivalent of jones. NEVERMIND- my sister just reminded my of batgirl's nickname for him. it will be freedom jones all the way.
