    all the articles i can find about this are from january and say that mlb made a deal with fox sports to set this up and planned to have a deal with comcast and whoever else by opening day. then no updates and now no deal. super lame.

    all i said was that i thought this was an actual bad thing for the team and i was surprised no one else thought it mattered beyond making the team less fun. i didn't start a new fatalism thread and scream about 3-159. that was the bit. this is how i honestly feel, and i don't think it's an outlandish opinion.

    i think people are underrating how bad this is for the cubs if he really is out for the season. i do not have any faith in baez or soler as an everyday player. soler is additionally a black hole defensively, probably even worse than schwarber. if schwarber is gone, i'm probably taking three or four wins off my mental projection for the cubs. that could easily be the difference between the division and a wild card. it also significantly weakens our lineup should we make the playoffs. thank god fowler came back.

    i love the after-the-fact explanation that part of the reason it's bad to put an awkward guy in the outfield isn't just that he'll cost you runs defensively but also that he'll suicide/take out your other players with his bumbliness. this is obviously nonsense and just isn't a thing anyone rational would expect to happen. if this were such a regular occurrence, omc would have a video in his collection of adam dunn spiking himself so hard that his foot comes off at the ankle and he bleeds out.

    yeah, that honestly strikes me as pretty weird. dempster i suppose i understand, but i would have guessed wood could have whatever gig of this nature he wanted. why would he choose this one?
