  1. So much hate (Lackey) for a guy that is so solid. 3.80 fip and he's a jackass. i look at him and see nothing worth liking.
  2. lackey wants to go fight contreras to punish him for not catching that rocket he gave up god i can't wait for him to be off the team
  3. Not against it, but why should we give up assets to acquire someone who might be our 4 or 5 starter and won't pitch in the postseason? we also need pitchers in 2017 and 2018. if now is when they are being sold, now is a time we might buy them.
  4. coghlan is the worst hitter in the lineup, feel free to let someone else lead off
  5. somebody better check on jesse rogers, don't know how he's going to live without 3am around
  6. you don't get to decide what people discuss here. you know what this topic is about. contribute positively or ignore it and gtfo. How is my side of the arguement any different than multiple posters coming at me or stating their opinion? You're an idiot how on earth did you use the right you're there
  7. the cubs don't have a real interpreter around to do chapman's first media but they successfully grilled this dude two days ago to make sure he was nice and wouldn't prey on women anymore http://i.imgur.com/Tl56ABx.jpg theo doesn't give a horsefeathers about this stuff at all. everything they've said is pr lip service.
  8. maddon talks a very big game about being flexible and open minded about bullpen usage but he really isn't yup. outside of some efforts to extend rondon a bit (which didn't really work), he's as by the book as anybody. even when the book is wrong. frustrating loss.
  9. this is unquestionably maddon's biggest blind spot regarding obvious stuff good managers can do to give teams an advantage. i'd love to hear his reasoning. lost us the game, too. maybe this is why theo decided he had to build a super bullpen. give joe so many good pitchers he uses someone good in that spot by accident.

  11. this salad dude with the stupid hair would be a very typical white sox dude to beat us
  12. i want to live in the alternate universe in which bryant didn't go for second and heyward didn't swing at ball four and also we didn't sign heyward
  13. nice troll move by rizzo to hit it to melky and watch him not be able to do anything about it
  14. that certainly makes me feel better. thanks.
  15. It's more concerning to me when the staff ace fails to pitch past the 6th inning in 6 of his last 7 starts than the offense having a bad game. Objectively, he's been better over the last three, though. He's only walked 4 guys in these past three games. He hadn't given up that few in a three-game stretch since his first three starts of the season. That's been his major problem. His control. He's been beat bad by the long ball in two of these last three, though. That hasn't really been a problem for him at all until recently. I'll be more concerned if that trend continues. But. he's corrected his original issues. wouldn't that really just perfectly align with the narrative about his struggles, though? 2015 and early 2016 jake succeeded by getting hitters to swing at pitches out of the zone. the hitters finally quit swinging and jake thus walked too many to succeed. then jake reacted by throwing more strikes, and as such gave up more hard contact.
  16. maybe tomorrow we can trade a bunch of prospects for a backup ss or something while still pretending the rotation is the same as it was in april and may
  17. TWO MAIN TAKEAWAYS ONE i understand "well this is the market," but if this is the market for two months of a reliever, years of a starter is going to be even more nightmarish. we are most likely going to have to make one of those trades eventually (and could have right now). not having torres will make that harder. i agree that he's overrated and blocked, but if other teams value him highly, i wish we would have used him to get someone at a more important position who will be around for longer. TWO i'm also honestly just really disappointed that our big deadline acquisition is a piece of horsefeathers who abuses women. this is supposed to be fun and i was all excited to see what cool new player got added to the team. now it's a guy who i wish was in prison. this absolutely makes this team and this season less fun for me. i'm not going to stop watching, but i'm already dreading the conversations with my mom and my girlfriend about the new cub everyone is so excited about.
  18. why do people keep saying boras is chapman's agent? http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/pop-music-maven-turned-agent-marc-anthony-signs-aroldis-chapman/
  19. He's the same guy who wanted to be the Cubs contrarian going into this season based on the plexiglass crap, right? I always confuse him with another guy, so I'm not positive. I'm not sure where he got his reputation. i'm sure it's earned. but I can't remember ever being impressed by him. he was an early baseball prospectus guy and, to me at least, has basically just always coasted on being associated with those impressive people. even then he was just the guy who didn't do numbers but was supposedly good at writing and reporting or something. now he just tweets about how the cubs suck and we should buy his newsletter. couple notches about will carroll at best.
  20. it just occurred to me that my distaste for chapman combined with my anger that we might not be extending him as part of the deal makes for a real "the food here is terrible! and such small portions!" situation.
  21. sheehan is underrated as a dumbass. he loves to pick issues and just harp on them forever. lately his fav is that schwarber is completely incapable of playing any defensive position and probably can't hit anyway. 23. we're getting him for two months. and he's not the best reliever in the game. also, i will never be able to put aside the deplorable person he is, but that's a completely different issue.
