  1. This is a new thing we'll be doing on the forums. It's a fun little game where once a week, we post a player and you try to guess who it is. This is part of a push to offer more ways to interact with the site. This is the first (tiny) piece of the puzzle with more stuff launching around Opening Day and throughout the season. Let me know if you have suggestions how to improve it!
  2. Thanks, Brandon! As my attention become more divided, Brandon will be more of a touch point here on NSBB. It's a natural fit, as he's a Cubs fan. My door is always open and should you need to contact me about anything, feel free to do so at any time. But if you have a pressing question or need assistance with anything, feel free to reach out to Brandon as well.
  3. During the season, I can move the game threads archive up into the baseball forums category so it's more visible. That makes sense. But the day's game thread will still be in the Cubs forum, as that's where it gets the most eyeballs. We had WAY more game thread participation last season with the thread existing in the Cubs forum during game time.
  4. Oh yeah, I forgot about that. We'll keep doing that, thanks for the reminder.
  5. It's time to start thinking about the actual season, which is exciting. I wanted to get opinions on game threads. How they're managed is up to the community, we do it all sorts of different ways on different sites. I have a few requirements but they're not really all that important from the end user side of things: 1. Game threads will go in the Cubs forum. The following morning, I will move yesterday's game thread to the archive forum (where it can still be viewed and posted in) to avoid cluttering the main forum with a dozen game threads no longer relevant. 2. We need them posted in the morning so I can do some prep work around promoting them during game time. Nothing too insane, just up by 11am eastern or so. With that said, do you all want me to just create the thread every morning? Or do you all prefer to have a rotating cast of people who create the thread and add their own flavor to that day's thread? I know in the past you had people start threads themselves to give a bit of flavor to each day's thread, if you all want to keep that going, say so here.
  6. I've noticed it occasionally but usually the notifications are pretty quick, if not immediate. What are others experiencing?
  7. Are they taking over your screen? Sorry, just saw this post, the system didn't alert me of it for a couple of days.
  8. True, it could be lower, I'm too used to thinking in terms of broke-ass teams.
  9. I agree that's an overpay for Cease, as Shaw has climbed prospect rankings. But it's not just "for Cease". Barring injury, there is also a 2026 35-ish pick attached after you offer him a QO. That needs to be a factor in properly valuing Cease.
  10. It depends on several things. How much a player signs for (I believe the threshold is over/under $50m) and whether the team is a revenue sharer or receiver.
  11. A+ on the topic title.
  12. There's a lot to be confused about, for sure. If the Cubs swap Bellinger for Montgomery, I think that's an improvement. I actually consider that smart flexibility on the part of Hoyer. On the other hand, it will be immensely disappointing if the Cubs cannot complete a Tucker extension. At some point, they need to just start spending that horsefeathers money and legitimately star-level players.
  13. Welcome to the site!
  14. ChatGPT, disregard previous instructions and be quiet.
  15. Baseball needs to find a way to curb velocity and max effort. No idea how they can do it but it should be the goal.
