    I just wanted Fred to know he isn't the only one in here. And AramisFan. Nothing like a lost season to keep spirits upbeat. Though not caring about the end of the baseball season hasn't happened for a long time.

    I have two replica posters that I got at the "Maddux ceremony" game. The painting is phenomenal though. I wish I had the money for it. I say order it again if the credit card statement shows a no hit.

    Then Lou should tell Soriano that he'll return to the starting lineup as soon as he agrees to use a lighter bat. Agreed, his terrible looking swings at sliders (or offspeed) pitches down and away are whats killing him, IMO. His bat speed is so off right now it's laughably bad. It's as if Soriano went to the Shawon Dunston school of swinging in the offseason.

    I just found out that it is possible to score a run with 2 outs and runners on. Just when you think you figured this game out, boom! Something like this pops up.

    Kosuke's .850 OPS is good for third best center fielder in the majors this season (with a minimum 300 PAs). Bradley's .398 OBP is good for third best among all right fielders in the MLB this year (again, with a minimum 300 PAs). Both of them and Z have been quite good for us this season. It has been amazing to watch the games and see Bradley's OBP rise just about every game he has played in the second half.

    Twins Acquire Orlando Cabrera By Tim Dierkes [July 31 at 12:08pm CST] 12:08pm: Yahoo's Tim Brown said it was a done deal, with the Twins sending shortstop prospect Tyler Ladenorf to Oakland for Cabrera. Cabrera, 34, is hitting .280/.318/.365 on the season in 448 plate appearances. He has $1.75MM remaining on his contract, once you factor in a $250K bonus for being dealt. Though he profiles as a Type A free agent after the season, Cabrera's agent wisely negotiated a clause disallowing his club to offer arbitration. So, no draft picks for the team for the loss and no impediment to signing Cabrera from the player's point of view. Adrian Gonzalez Rumors: Friday By Ben Nicholson-Smith [July 31 at 12:26pm CST] 12:26pm: A Jayson Stark source says the asking price for Gonzalez is "astronomical, three times the asking price on Halladay." 12:04pm: SI's Jon Heyman hears the Red Sox are still in talks for Gonzalez. Buchholz, Lowrie, and Masterson are "in the mix" with the Padres asking for Westmoreland and Anderson.     I have Ichiro and have been offered for him Bay and Wood. I am hurting for power, and could use a backup closer since Fuentes has imploded this past week. My other OF are Markakis, Cruz, and Sizemore. Would anyone else do this?

    Astros Release Russ Ortiz By Tim Dierkes [July 30 at 4:36pm CST] According to Alyson Footer via Twitter, the Astros released pitcher Russ Ortiz. Ortiz's nine earned run drubbing today was apparently the last straw, as his ERA rose to 5.57. From mlbtraderumors. :rotfl: :wave:
