  1. Dunn in 2004: Home: .265/.390/.600, 25 HR in 327 PA's Road: .266/.386/.539, 21 HR in 349 PA's everybody knows dunn sucks, he strikes out too much and he should be hitting singles instead of walking so much.
  2. as i've said, dunn sucks, he strikes out too much and doesn't sac bunt enough. he also doesn't do enough in the clubhouse to be all that valuable. i'm not sold on dunn yet, he sucks, he strikes out too much.
  3. Actually, I think it's from the "Beane did it, so it must be the right decision" school of thought that causes the urge to :puker: Nope, everything's some form of revolution with Sully. maybe it's "Beane did it, so I desperately want it to fail or I'll rip my face off, gouge my eyes out and vomit on my baseball card collection because I've spent my life believing that sacrifice bunting is the be-all-end-all of team success and if I have to believe anything different I'll cease to exist" that causes it. Once again Sulley's amazing online psychological skills fail miserably. or, i hit a nerve which has caused you to insult me personally. good show, ryan. I insulted you personally by saying you don't know how I think? Or was it my response to your always condescending tone regarding Beane. come on, ryan, let's end this.
  4. whatever, dunn sucks. if he would have bunted instead of hit those homers, the reds would have won by 10.

  7. further evidence that this forum needs a puke emoticon. Agreed on the want to puke. I take it I hit an anti-Beane nerve with you? My point was that Oakland could have received any number of deals for Hudson, but settled on a deal that included Cruz -- so he must have some apparent value. Where exactly is the need to vomit in that? the need to vomit stems from the hate of anything new.
  8. best case scenario: eddy is completely cleared to play next season, but the stigma of a heart problem keeps the big offers from coming in. the bull are able to sign him to a very fair extension and he's a bull for life.
  9. modern farming got to where it's at by listening to scientists. talk to farmers today, they know what they're doing, but they know what they're doing because scientific development. the farmer's crop didn't wither because his neighbor's wife gave him the evil eye, it withered because of some weird ph shift in the soil.
  10. then he should sit burnitz and corey and have hendry trade for some crappy slap hitters that always make contact. we should also trade lee for loduca and just watch the runs come rolling in.
  11. i'd love to play the pistons in the playoffs at some point.
  12. we have several BandWGN's around here. many others have unhealthy fetishes for other team's players. my personal favorite is rocket's obsession with adam dunn.
  13. you can look at baseball as a sprint, make judgements about players based on seeing them do something 1 time, and praise managers for not being consistent in their decision-making, but it's only going to make you wrong. you're simply reacting against a new philosophy, don't worry, it happens all the time. i still like you most of the time, though.
  14. look who's taking things out of context, now. there are 162 games to play this season, and you're sitting here acting like yesterday's game was game 7 of the world series. that's one of the main points of moneyball, you're going to lose some games due to defensive lapses and not making contact at certain times. but if you can't do the important stuff, like get on base, you aren't even going to be in position to compete for the division. more taking things out of context. holy crap. players like dunn carry the weight of team production on their back, and then you point to a slap hitter who punches one through a drawn in infield in one game per year as the real hero. your argument is ridiculous.
  15. a "bad hitter"? that's a strong statement to make about a man with 80 XBH's last year. zz, you don't like him because he doesn't hit .300 with a .320 OBP, just admit it. you don't like him because he gets on base a lot and is one of the prototypical "moneyball" players. sure, the importance of OBP is a new idea and has received a lot of criticism from the catholic church, but that's no reason to take a stance against it. i hear that the first duty of the new pope is going to be to place billy beane under house arrest until he admits that wasting outs and slapping at balls is productive and progressive, but that won't make it so. you're a progressive thinker, zz, join the 21st century baseball fan, please.
  16. dude, someone needs to slap you silly. Would you guys be so bananas about him if he hit .210/.375, 200Ks and only had 30 homers this year. Dunn is so all-or-nothing I wouldn't be surprised if he does terrible and doesn't even reach the Mendoza line. He could hit .270 and 50 dingers - I dunno. He's an enigma at this point. An enigma wrapped in shroud caught in a riddle stuck in fog surrounded by uncertainty. And he is worse than Carlos Lee in LF. And that is bad.... if "all-or-nothing" means that he gets on base 40% of the time, then i'm all about the "all-or-nothing". you just don't get it: getting on base is better than not getting on base. i don't see what you find so difficult to understand about it.
  17. just so long as we don't play new jersey, they're the only ones that i'm really afraid of.
  18. dude, someone needs to slap you silly.
  19. seriously rocket, it was funny for a while. but you need to know when to end a bit. you're starting to get heckled.
  20. that's ridiculous sulley, and you know it. dunn's the worst player because he strikes out too much AND HE DIDN'T HIT A SAC FLY LAST SEASON he never bunts runners over either, talk about worthless. he probably doesn't even smile when he's signing autographs and treats his teammates like simple coworkers. he's bad for team chemistry.
  21. dunn is obviously the worst player in baseball because he strikes out too much.
  22. Sure it is, nerd. wait, are you being sarcastic?
  23. True, Shaq didn't play. But his replacements were playing out of their minds... Doleac scored 8 on 4 of 4 shooting, and Wang scored 11 on 5 of 6... each in around 20 minutes.. not bad for backups. Wang was driving me nuts. Oh, and Wang lives in my town of Arcadia (yes, Joan of Arcadia's Arcadia). He lives up in the fancy gated community in the foothills and his neighbors include Jet Li and Paul Walker. EDIT: Bulls now own the 6th seed (Boston would be their opponent). And they have a better record than the Lakers. Time to make fun of everyone here. :D -drink-
  24. i am bipartisan2 on illiniboard.com everywhere else i am know as sulleymon, no, i don't like pokemon. it's a reference to "suleyman the magnificent", only americanized, i guess.
