  1. when you try to protect, generally, you're protecting against getting on base.
  2. he could have saved that curve for a different hitter, but i guess it was a good time to do it.
  3. GG first baseman can't get that one, but their lead-glove first baseman stabs one last inning. i wish things like that would stop happening.
  4. no. not that extreme, but neifi was a little better than ronny's been playing. ronny will get better. neifi was never good. hate to use the "tools" argument, but it applies in this case. hate to argue with ya sulley, because they both suck don't get me wrong, but if ronny is going to get better i wish he would show it at some point (outside of spring training). when you have two equally sucky SS, you take the younger one with the tools. i will give you that. wait. am i actually arguing for neifi perez right now? ok, i digress. yeah, good call.
  5. Is anyone surprised? Soft tossing lefty. it'll be down about as low as it possibly can get tonight.
  6. francouer continues his cubbie domination. doesn't matter who's on the mound.

  8. wilson isn't quick, he stuck his glove out there and found something. happnes all the time.
  9. he hits the ball hard, poor defensive first baseman makes the play. the story of the last 2 games. can we please win one? please?

  11. i wish someone would hit the ball hard off of this tomato can.
  12. you can see why he's been doing so well. hopefully, hitters will never catch on to when he's going to throw it. it still kind of scares me that it may happen... it's just a curve and fastball. he's developed a good change.
  13. hill's good, but i wouldn't be so hasty. people were calling maddux the "ace" of the staff at this time last year, too.

  15. I don't know that you can say that. For instance, I much prefer the "agressive within the zone" plate approach that DLee has as opposed to being passive. Everything in moderation. "aggressive in a zone" is just another term for being patient. of course you want your hitters to swing at good pitches.
  16. ahhh, a new game, another chance for a total mental breakdown.
  17. aggressive baseball is bad baseball. let's try not to take risks in front of our 3-4 hitters, they won't strike out on pitches 3 feet outside every time up. and i hope the 3-2 pitch to lee that was called a ball was a brain fart on the ump's part, because it's bad news if hill isn't getting that corner.
  18. I don't think he's going to get the chance to pound Grossman. I see Turner coming out with a huge, heavy dose of Benson in this game to prove a point starting the '07 season. And I see Turner instituting more shotgun, too. He's said he will look into that. I think he's going to do it. Shotgun doesn't prevent pressure. But well-executed screens and draws can. Even better is the ability of the line and the running back to absorb the pressure and give the QB the opportunity to exploit the inevitable openings in the defense. the line and the RB have to protect the QB whether or not he's in the shotgun. and it won't ensure him enough time for inevitable holes in the defense to open up. i believe in curses, but not the magic shotgun.
