you can tell hitters to be more patient, like you can tell pitchers to throw more strikes. however, i wouldn't do that with my better players, they already know.

i have no problem with that, he hits .336 with a 1.000 OPS on first pitches over the last 3 years.

Can we put a moritorium on the Guzman lovefest until he is sufficiently stretched out to be a starting pitcher and putting up some good starts? Don't think so. He was very good as a starter last year and his stuff is roughly a trillion times better than Steadman's. He needs to be in the rotation instead of him. agreed. i think he could do better than miller on a consistent, long-term basis.

Nothing was wrong with that at bat. He hit it hard. i know...i just want to keep pie and drop cedeno but...that is just me pie will be kept, cedeno looks a lot better than izturis. i wish we could trade izturis. Would Hendry really be willing to admit a mistake though? probably not, but he didn't think ronny would even be on the team this year, and he is. ronny's battled onto the roster.

i was going to ask if it was just me, but jacque is getting some good plate appearances in this year. you wouldn't know that by some of the people here, however. i like JJ, and ive supported him since day 1. i think he's a solid OF for us. that said, if Pie shows he can hit, i'm not against trading Jones, especially if we can get something good out of him. i wasn't a jones supporter, but i can't complain about the production he's given as a cub.

In what way? more power. but he can't hit in 23 AB's? he's slumping. given time, he'll be okay. and the 534 he had last year? he's not the same hitter with perry coaching him. he's been much more patient. if he can put it all together, forget about it. do you honestly believe that? I haven't seen much of a difference in his approach, and his 2 homers just seem flukey. Maybe im wrong though. this far, he's seeing 4 pitches PPA. albeit a small sample size, but anyone that can't tell his discipline has improved isn't watching the games. he's definitely a different hitter.

In what way? more power. but he can't hit in 23 AB's? he's slumping. given time, he'll be okay. and the 534 he had last year? he's not the same hitter with perry coaching him. he's been much more patient. if he can put it all together, forget about it.

he needs to get us 7 today. that would be nice. that would be nice, but i think that's quite the pipe dream. 44 through 3 is good. if he can hold them to 3-4 in 7, i'd be cool with that.
