  1. i think the illini are more than capable of sticking it to usc.
  2. That would be an even worse Rose Bowl (in terms of the closeness of the game) than last year was. I think that matchup is likely and I'll be there if it happens. I am not sure why you think a team that lost at home to Stanford is invincible though. Because Illinois is from the Big 10 and a Big 10 team cant beat anybody duh and the illini are bad because i say so, even though i've admittedly never seen them play.
  3. saw this on the illini scout site:

I am not sure why you think a team that lost at home to Stanford is invincible though. especially against a team that beat the probable national champion at their home field.
  5. so, if i get this right...... if hawaii continues to suck against uw, the illini are basically in the rose bowl, as i can't see clemson in a bcs game, and i definitely can't see them in the rose bowl. the rose bowl goes with tradition and the illini play usc.
  6. \:D/ they should have hired neuheisel when they had the chance, it would have worked out better for both parties.
  7. Yeah, even Illinois hater Bukie seems to think so. I'd just like to know how they are better than Illinois. SSR provided a game by game breakdown of both teams and it looks like Illinois has the slight edge over USF. USF's best win was against a Pat White-less West Virginia team. And then of course they lost 3 games in a row. I'm sorry, but good teams don't lose 3 games in a row. As far as the whole Juice in the NFL deal, he's going to have to learn how to throw the ball with more touch on his passes. If he can improve his accuracy his final two years in college, I think he'll be drafted in a later round. USF did play a tougher schedule, has a better OOC win in Auburn, had comparable losses (they were in every game, and didn't drop a game to a team as bad as Iowa), and was actually capable of blitzing teams out that didn't play in 1-AA (Louisville, Syracuse, UCF). Illinois only really blew out one "quality" team in Northwestern. It's not clear-cut, for sure, but an argument can be made. An argument better than "lol they aren't even ranked". wait, illinois didn't bounce syracuse and up and down the field? they also played missouri to a standstill with their backup freshman qb.
  8. The Big 10 beat no one outside of the Big 10 that was any good, that's why. Nothing personal Sully, it's just business. it doesn't matter if they beat everyone outside of the b10, there'd still be people saying that the b10 was no good. i can't wait until the illini get to beat up on some sec or pac-10 school in a bowl game, it's going to be marvelous. no respect whatsoever.
  9. there is quite a large anti-b10 bias on this board for whatever reason.
  10. the illini will beat them with their own surf boards.
  11. Doesn't USC have like 85 first round picks on defense? so does ohio state.
  12. it's going to be a couple long years waiting for bertrand, paul, richardson, and then finally richmond and hopefully johnson.
  13. oh, i would be so happy if usc played the illini. softy mcsoft. it would be so much fun watching the illini offense bully around that usc defense.
  14. that is pretty messed up, the loser of the ku/mu game clinched a bcs bowl by losing. hilarious. now, for an ou victory and the annual victory for the illini in the braggin rights game and the revenge will be complete.
  15. if missouri loses to oklahoma, illinois IS going to the rose bowl and there's nothing you can do about it. not only are they going, but they'll smother whoever they play, be it sec, pac-10, big 12, or acc.
  16. so you're saying that the sec will have 3 teams in the bcs?
  17. so if missouri loses to oklahoma, they end up in the cotton while the illini end up in the rose bowl with kansas playing in the holiday bowl? awesome. boomer freaking sooners.
  18. a good player is never pot committed. however, the cubs appear to be chasing a flush here on the river.
  19. When it comes to how good two teams are. Beating a team by 2 points is worth about as much as losing by 2 points. A few points either way in a college game are kinda random. It's not like we're talking about two touchdowns up is the same as two touchdowns down, it's not. We're talking about a field goal either way. There's a lot of volatility in that. There's a reason it works out this way...and it has nothing to do with the SEC, Big XII, Big Ten or Mangino's waist size. If only things were as simplistic as you'd like them to be. We're not talking about a missed field goal. We're talking about a 60 minute football game. There's nothing random about winning. Calling a two point loss "random" is just ignorant. it means the teams were evenly matched and the game could have gone either way. so yes, in that respect it's very random.
  20. agreed, tebow is a video game.
  21. I want to see Ohio State in the title game for two reasons. 1. To get embarassed by West Virginia 2. Illinois would make the Rose Bowl if Ohio State makes the title game. Sounds good to me. for us illini fans, it doesn't matter who wins this game, right? as long as oklahoma smokes either of them in the big 12 championship. If Mizzou wins, it strengthens Illinois' schedule for a possible BCS at large berth (this is assuming something wacky doesn't happen like BC or Tennessee winning their conference title, that would pretty much eliminate Illinois) in the event that Mizzou beats Oklahoma and plays against WVU (who isn't losing to Pitt). gotcha.
  22. rowand ain't going to sign somewhere to play LF. he just won the gold glove, regardless of how awkward he makes the position look.

  24. I have wondered the same thing. Definitely couldn't argue against its effectiveness, however. not arguing that, takes people longer to sack him, i guess.
  25. is it just me, or does daniel stand farther away from the center than any quarterback who's ever taken a shotgun snap? he's like 20 yards behind the line of scrimmage.
