  1. my prediction that the brewers win the division, despite this being the best cubs team in over half a century still stands. the brewers are going to win the division. start keeping an eye on the wild card standings.
  2. that grand slam seems a long time ago, now. these phillies are unbelievable against us, every single year. at least we have a comfortable lead on the cardinals, because the lead on the brewers will not hold up if they don't lose games.
  3. there's 2. like i said, it's a miracle that we split this series, anyway. 4.5, though, and shrinking fast.
  4. there's a difference between celebrating a strikeout and beating your chest like on the mound. i had no problem with the fist-pumping episode, but a big problem with romero.
  5. He's much better at throwing the ball to receivers that have no one around them for 15 yards in any direction than I thought. Seriously though, he did a fine job after a slow start accuracy wise. He would've been the hero of the game if he didn't have to make up a 4 TD deficit in 20 minutes. Related to that deficit, I was very happy with how Mizzou's O-Line did against that U of I front seven. Daniel's only sack was on a roll out, he wasn't evading sacks the whole game, and they did a nice job blocking for Washington. Who was Davis covering the whole night? I saw the nice deflection on the one sideline ball to Perry, but didn't notice him in particular(although I had no idea it was Saunders that caught the 3rd quarter TDs, to give you an idea of my seats) aside from that. well, the illini's best d-lineman didn't play and vontae was out i think half the game.
  6. what did he do pumped his fist after the K nothing, really what, like he was pleased or something? the phillies are celebrating after everything, whatever. i'm very surprised that we beat the phillies in the first two games of the series, we never beat the phillies, and they simply weren't going to let the cubs get a series win against them.
  7. oh and btw, TT, i thought juice wasn't a qb and couldn't throw the ball.
  8. If the closest moment in the second half is Illinois getting to the edge of the red zone down 2 scores, then immediately getting sacked and throwing a pick, I think that answers the question. so you weren't nervous at all, then. that certainly answers it.
  9. Someone needs to call the Waaambulance. As far as Illinois goes, I think every team on the schedule will still want/try to force Juice to throw the ball all game and contain the running game. Don't get me wrong he showed much improved touch last night and the numbers were huge, but good lord he had guys streaking WIDE open all night. They need to find a combination that can at least compare to Mendenhall. Mizzou just needs to figure out what their problem was in the secondary. That offense is outstanding and if Maclin is healthy so are their ST. Illinois is going to have to develop some kind of a running game to keep defenses honest. Juice can only do so much and opposing teams are certainly going to make the running game beat them rather than Juice through the air (not that it will necessarily work every week). illinois had a subpar rushing game last year against missouri, as well. they stacked the line and dared the illini qb's to throw on them. dufrene ran for more yards than mendenhall.
  10. anybody catch maclin as they carted him away? i think he was crying just like a little baby.
  11. I'm not getting the analogy. It's not like you guys pulled your starters. It's not like you were in the prevent, Juice was throwing over your secondary. It was pretty much a carbon copy of last year's game, and man am I pissed at the pants-wetting that our defense did. Illinois led for about 10 seconds the entirety of the game. Mizzou was up at least 2 scores for the entirety of the second half, and by as many as 25 points. It wasn't close. when juice hit judson at the 20 yard line when we were down by ten, i'm sure there were some missourian hearts beating fast. you can't tell me you weren't thinking "not again". we had a bad defensive game, and that will happen against missouri's offense. but, i think the score was about as accurate as it gets.
  12. eh, we'll get you back in the annual hardwood drubbing.
  13. i don't think anyone has been talking illinois up to be anything other than what they are. this I-L-L stuff is what we do, i have no idea how that constitutes being cocky or needing to be humbled. we got beaten by a better team, period. however, i still think the rest of the big ten is in trouble when it comes to playing the us. Actually, SSR was quite cocky, and is the sole reason I enjoyed seeing Illinois lose. Typically, I don't care one way or another about Illinois, but seeing really obnoxious fans get humbled is fun. i haven't seen ssr write anything that i would consider cocky. we like our football team and we have a good one. it hasn't happened often and we like to see our team win, we will discuss it on this board. fans talk about their teams all the time, and quite frankly, the illini fans are a lot less in-your-face than pac-10 or sec fans.
  14. Frankly, I think Mizzou would flatten every other team in the Big Ten with the exception of Ohio State. That would be a fun game to watch. yeah, I'm not prepared to talk trash about Illinois until after Penn State plays them. I'm not very confident right now, even with the game at home. i'm not talking trash, but some illinois fans have gotten pretty cocky about their team. i think they forget that they were horrible 2 years ago. and frankly it seems like they have a lot of punks on their team too, getting up and hopping around after every first down or tackle for a loss. Damn us for actually being happy that we have a respectable football team now. And damn those players for celebrating when something good happens. Just makes me sick. how dare we even discuss the illini on this board?

  16. what, that their quarterback is named j. williams and that they were passing every down due to being behind?

  18. illinois is not a serious nc contender, we didn't need to win this game, but it sure would have been nice. it's a great test game for the rest of the season. the tigers have a possibly great team, good luck to them.
  19. juice is good, but the defense still has to go out there.
  20. i've been telling people that juice is going to step up this year and be a very good passer AND rusher. unfortunately, i've also been telling people that the illini defense is going to be good as well.
  21. jeez, daniel stands punter-deep. this is what the bears need to do. you don't even need a line with a shotgun like that, maybe just a center.
  22. lou should have gotten up on that victorino play. he dove into the pitch and he meant to do it.
  23. but then you could use the money to buy a real nice cilice.
  24. i had the big ten network on in the background as i was doing some late night work, but i didn't realize that it was the big ten network, and i just naturally assumed that burgess meredith was roasting the 68 penn state football team, but when i turned my head to look at the screen, it turned out to be joe paterno.
