  1. i'd look forward to a penn state game if they had a "joe paterno running to the crapper-cam".
  2. i figured it'd be k/9, but whatever.
  3. the cotton bowl is so awesome, i'm amazed by it's awesomeness.
  4. the cotton bowl is kinda like a bcs game, though.
  5. ahh, yes, the good old cotton bowl.
  6. Damn. Get him a year or two of solid, healthy OL work and I bet he'll at least land on a D-2 team somewhere. that's what we're hoping. he definitely fits the prototype.
  7. i've been watching that home run over and over and over again. the best part of it was watching the old man in green standing in the front row behind the backstop and the utter joy that he elicited as he hopped up against the netting with this huge childlike grin on his face. we need to win for guys like him.
  8. nice catch, but i saw stronger throws in the llws.
  9. i have a cousin who is playing in his first juco game for rock valley cc against cod on saturday. going down to rockford to see him play. he's your run-of-the-mill 6-8 340 pound OT.
  10. The insanely ecstatic fans should have given it away. From WGN's cf camera angle, I thought he popped it up and the fans just over-reacted to a routine fly ball. That's what I thought too and then I saw the CF not move and the way ARam was posing I though he was just pissed. Then the ball went into the seats. i knew that he crushed it and the cfer was pulling a bonds.
  11. that's the target. i'm really really happy about this.
  12. charter and btn have reached an agreement.
  13. although often referred to as "merkle's boner", the fortunate event is correctly titled "the merkle boner".
  14. This thread is fine. Boo you suck! Just kidding, but I was just trying to eliminate all the people complaining about the banter that is going to happen back and forth the next week. Last year it seemed like there was alot of complaining about all of it. No big deal, but with that said... It's when Big Ten season actually starts that we'll really get sick of you people. for what it's worth, chicago is the very beating heart of the big ten. I wouldn't say Chicago is the beating heart of the Big Ten. I'm not sure any town really is but if I had to choose I would go with Indy over Chicago anyways. Both cities host championship tournaments every year and both are centrally located but just from my own experience of being in both cities quite often 99% of people in Indy grew up with the Big Ten and root for a Big Ten team where as Chicago it's about 50/50 as many tend to only care about pro sports and many come to Chicago for the job but grew up outside the Midwest. i would wager that chicago, easily, has the most big ten college alumni living in or around it. plus, it's the midwest's media capital and is centrally located. does it attract fans of other conferences or from other areas? of course, but that's because it's a gigantic, world class city, which can hardly be held against it. as far as half the board not being from chicago, who cares? doesn't matter. the team is based in chicago and many of us are from illinois and are going to talk about the big ten. i'm not saying that the big ten should be the main discussion or even one of the more prevalent discussions regarding college sports, but you absolutely cannot be suprised when you come to a chicago cubs board and see a big ten discussion, that's ignorant. that's like that white sox fan who always calls up wgn radio and tells them they suck because they talk about the cubs too much.
  15. he needs to high-five a black guy on a basketball court.
  16. let me voice my distaste for singing two songs before baseball games yet again. can we just decide on one and go with it? baseball really has nothing to do with countries anyway.
  17. just like the brew crew is going to overtake us? You really shouldn't talk. No, I don't think the Brewers overtake the Cubs. A few days ago sulley was going on and on about how the Brewers would pass us because they never lose. you haven't been around here long enough to knw, but that's what i do. i take it on myself to be the anti-jinx of the board. but stop obsessing about what i said last week, plz. i questioned whether or not you were serious, but you were so convincing i wouldn't be doing my job if i interrupted my bit for the benfit of a single person. and, for the record, i still haven't admitted anything regarding the brewer situation. now stop obsessing before you jinx dexter and they cancel the show.

  19. i thought that it was a little premature to talk about how our players couldn't handle pressure. that's all that they do is handle pressure.
