  1. are we even sure they're asking for mcnutt? i mean, they asked for garza initially when we were all wringing our hands over brett jackson. maybe they want more.
  2. That I cannot disagree with at all... Friedman is actually my first choice. I'm just buying into the argument he is not a viable option, and that things are too far gone WRT Theo. We're gonna end up giving more than many here want, methinks. Until he gives me reason to believe otherwise, I'm going to give Ricketts the benefit of the doubt. I'm expecting good things from his negotiating ability. i'm envisioning the horse-trading scene from true grit.
  3. I get the feeling the GM would just be someone to do Theo's legwork and bidding. i think this is true. theo's going to be the man who controls everything.
  4. if he doesn't bring in a GM it will be awfully tough to convince anyone that he's been promoted.
  5. i still don't think it's a clear-cut promotion. ricketts is very involved with the team and i'm sure will continue to be, the things he says about keeping out of the way remain to be seen, which is fine by me, i like him. theo will be performing the exact same duties with the cubs, it's just that he technically reports to one person who reports to his ownership group.
  6. but his job duties will remain pretty much the same. boston could argue that ricketts is essentially the team president AND owner. That argument would be almost as ridiculous as someone arguing that Brandon Marshall is better than Megatron. somebody's a cranky ginger today.
  7. but his job duties will remain pretty much the same. boston could argue that ricketts is essentially the team president AND owner. And I could argue that Fenway Park is essentially a sewage factory. That argument won't get me very far, because it isn't true. now that's just silly.

  9. No. When you sell your car, does your price depend upon how the person buying it is going to use it? Only if the car is getting promoted to a 4 wheel drive truck. I just don't understand how you don't get this. It's the same thing as an NFL coordinator being allowed to interview for a head coaching job. There's NEVER any compensation when a promotion is involved. In fact, the only time permission is even considered to be an issue is in a parallel move, which we've clearly determined is not the case here. the question here is are the cubs inventing a position that's not really a promotion, but sounds like a promotion for the sake of calling it a promotion?
  10. prescience huh and they rode on in the friscalating dusklight.
  11. nobody like forte has been traded from a team that still has hopes of being in the playoffs.
  12. yeah, palmer's a quarterback, but he's a mediocre quarterback. forte, as has been shown, is "52%" of the bears' offense.
  13. i think the offense would be enough to keep us afloat until we can restock the defense. this is, however, assuming angelo is a better assessor of talent.
  14. i think they would, [expletive], carson palmer just got traded for a #1 and a potential #1. forte's value isn't going to get any higher, he's been really really hyped this year as the cornerstone of the bears offense, when in actuality, the cornerstone is overwhelmingly cutler. if we could get a serviceable safety back, which won't happen, that would be icing. but if we could parlay forte into a first round tackle and receiver, it would serve his replacement very well.
  15. maybe this belongs here, espn reporting that teams have contacted the bears about forte. i would do it for an NFL player and two #1's.
  16. hahaha, just heard teams are contacting the bears about matt forte
  17. dick. boston's getting stonewalled in negotiations so they have to make [expletive] up.
  18. who the [expletive] are you?
  19. chocobot's good, but i don't see what makes him super duper special as far as really good wide receivers go. he's having a great season, no doubt, it remains to be seen if he can keep it up.
  20. no doubt he's having a great season, if he actually finishes with more than 20 tds and 1,500 yards, that will be remarkable. i don't think people realize what a specimen marshall is, he's virtually the same height and weight as johnson, but more like terrell owens in build, physique, and strength. the big knock on marshall are drops and touchdowns. the two things that hold him back as a great receiver.
  21. i didn't say he had great hands.
  22. he's stronger, more physical, better route runner, catches more passes and he has chad henne and matt moore throwing passes to him.
