  1. Yeah I read that, I'm not too optimistic with the draft last year. I'm hopeful for this year but if he whiffs again we'll be rebuilding for the next few years again, if cutler is the quarterback, and i believe he will be, there will be no rebuilding. there will be retooling a defense with a few young guys up front that have either played well or still can be considered to have potential. i think cutting peppers after this season is a must. shea has got to prove himself worthy of starting this year and wootton has got to continue to develop as he did this past year. i believe something long-term will be worked out with melton at a reasonable rate, and paea will play next to him for years. the safety position is locked up with wright and conte, although i suspect that hardin will make a strong push and i still love his size and speed. jennings will probably be extended. re-sign urlacher for a couple years for 6 mil with 3 mil guaranteed and get a middle linebacker in this draft, let him play sam this upcoming season. but the offense should be carrying us now that we're retooling on the defensive side.
  2. well, tucker runs a cover-2 base scheme, too. and i'd imagine he's closer to lovie/kiffin than he is to jauron.
  3. i like t'eo more than ogletree. ogletree may be more physically gifted but he's not nearly as disciplined as t'eo, nor does he have t'eo's instincts in the middle. i don't like the trufant pick at all. if warmack or cooper falls to 20, you have to grab one of them. i wouldn't even mind going OG in the second either. If neither of the big guards fall, i'm trying to trade down and pick up the lost 3rd rounder.
  4. yeah, but minnesota had like 20 turnovers and illinois had 6.
  5. I'm not sure Brandon Paul has ever taken a good shot. Just bad shots that fall on occasion. that should be a stat, bad shot make %.
  6. i hope they don't grant mbakwe a 12th year of eligibility.
  7. Egwu has come a long way this season. What we don't have is depth up front for when Egwu gets in foul trouble. Also, Paul takes months off, which is infuriating. egwu still isn't a guy with a ton of post moves in the paint.
  8. looking pretty good now. oh man if we had a big man we would be a top 10 team.
  9. you don't have to rebuild if you have a quarterback.
  10. Watch the Bears draft Barkley and shock the world.
  11. dan bernstein keeps saying that someone's return from an ACL injury isn't done when they step back on the court. it's obviously going to be the final step, but it's not finished. he's definitely not going to feel comfortable playing until he gets back on the court. he needs a push.
  12. "I don't recall saying good luck."
  13. the packers paying jennings 10 mil + per makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.
  14. After thorough research I have decided that this man is my favorite Bear of all time. This will never go over amongst Chicago meatballs who set their watch by Johnny Unitas's haircut. They will almost assuredly mistake his goofiness for being a bad guy.
  15. bushrod organized a harlem shake last week in new orleans and then left town.
  16. Well explained. The new coaching staff will be much more pass happy. They've already added a pass catching big target in Bennett. They will likely utilize Forte, who is a fine receiver himself, more in the passing game, and will likely add a speedy target through the draft while also improving the offensive line. A more aggressive and effective passing attack should take pressure off of Cutler, who can also still run pretty well. I'm kind of hoping that this coaching staff can make better use of Evan Rodriguez as well. bennett is also a great pass blocker. rodriguez gives them flexibility as an h-back and has been working out with marshall and jeffery this offseason.
  17. i'm thinking we're going ILB in the first round and then OG in the second.
  18. so here's the deal, bushrod played the toughest position on the 7th ranked pass-blocking line last year, they were 3rd in 2011, and 5th in 2010 and 4th in 2009. i have to believe that he's a major step up considering that the pressure the line was under to stop people from killing brees on every play, knowing full well he was going to pass.
  19. jay more statuesque than brees? you don't watch the bears very much.
  20. https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2013/03/12/2013-free-agency-live-blog-day-1/
  21. Not sure, going off tweets here. Don't have the PFF access. iirc, he was rated as the top run-blocking RT and worst pass-blocker by them around midseason he's a guard he's not even a guard, he's a run-blocking RT. he's too tall and lanky to be a good guard.
  22. not going to be a consistent contender until they get a QB. they should trade their first rounder plus the picks they got for harvin to move up and take geno smith.
  23. cutting spaeth and davis leaves us with who, rodriguez and kyle adams? draft eifert and go cheap on the other spot. i hear rodriguez has been working out with marshall and jeffery this offseason. i'm not enamored with spaeth as he's regarded as a blocking tight end, but he really isn't good at blocking.
