  1. if he is the next coach, i hope he never ever wears the orange jacket. ever.
  2. are you just being superstitiously pessimistic?
  3. Or you hire Stevens and he follows in Lickliter's footsteps. lickliter continued recruiting mid-major players after he went to iowa, i doubt stevens does the same.
  4. that tweet was fake. tons and tons of more coming in God dammit I refuse to believe this until it happens. ok, i'm not so sure, now. i'm just going to stop making claims.
  5. That's a decent hire for them. definitely
  6. that tweet was fake. tons and tons of more coming in
  7. andy katz now reporting that his sources tell him stevens to illinois
  8. lots and lots of smoke gentlemen
  9. Can he get it though? . I'm guessing he will good for him. he won't get it from us. we'll both be better off.
  10. You're up Sulley. i'm still exhausted from the unappreciated bo ryan post i made last night. you are all a bunch of jerks
  11. i think we could at least get the browns' 2nd rounder. but i think they'd be willing to part with their first rounder. there are any number of attractive players that would be available at either spot that would equal more than the difference between forte and bush.
  12. if the bears are worried about losing him, they will come to an agreement, if they aren't, they won't. that is how things work. the bears think they can live without him and may actually be better if they can snag a high draft pick in a trade. they will not suffer from the dropoff from forte to bush if he's not there, and if they can get mercilus/coples AND a left tackle like adams or martin or a center/guard like konz, then they have made themselves significantly better.
  13. we won't get a 1st rd pick for him, but yes you do that deal all day. It's how the "running backs age faster so devalue them" that I find suspicious. HOW much faster do they age? they don't necessarily age faster but they have a shorter shelf-life. not only that, but the difference between an average running back and a very good running back is not nearly as great as the gap between receivers or quarterbacks.
  14. no. bush and bell would be fine in tandem with a late-round rookie to back them up or push them.
  15. No they aren't. People are coming down on him for being a little bitch and pretending the Bears haven't tried to sign him to an extension that guarantees him a heck of a lot of money. It's not about disrespect, taking advantage or unfairness. It's about money. The Bears offered a lot of money and he wanted more. It's not like the Bears have never expressed interest in paying anything but the franchise number for one year. We know with the Lynch, Williams, Johnson, and Foster long-term contracts what the market for Forte is. 17-20Mil guaranteed. We can assume that is what is being considered "fair market value" for Forte. If he would have been offered that, he would have a long-term deal right now. The fact that he doesn't means that YES the Bears HAVE tried, but they haven't tried to sign him to a fair value. they don't have to sign him at "fair market value" if they don't want to. if they don't value him, why should they pay big money for him? that's idiotic to pay someone simply to pay them or out of some sense of fairness. if they thought he was a must-keep player, they would have signed him long ago on his terms.
  16. Where's that from? Please don't say incarcerated bob if the bears can wrangle a first rounder out of somebody, that would be so awesome. we could take a rb in the 5th or 6th to back up bush and be golden.
  17. bo is sobbing in his cave, pantsless, hair like a wild ape's, sportjacket lapel still-adorned with pin. a trickle of moonlight filtering in and across his brow. his is the wail of the uncivilized and barbaric mute, and it sounds over the primordial steppes as music, lonely and shrill. he rubs his crotch violently with the debris he has scavenged from untended campsites, still singing that same sad song of despair. he drifts into an uncomfortable sleep.
  18. Forte has done a ton for this team, yet every single offseason the Bears have brought in a FA RB and paid him more money. Bringing in Kevin Jones when Forte was a rookie was a non-issue. Paying a bunch of money to Chester Taylor was understandable after Forte came off a down year after 2 years of a lot of touches. Bringing in Marion Barber to do short-yardage was a little slap in the face, but something Forte could overlook. Now they brought in a 4th RB in 4 years. Bush is guaranteed 7 Mil. Forte is only guaranteed 7.7Mil. Sure it's a lot of money, but this is the NFL. Forte blows out his knee this year, it's likely he'll never seen 7.7Mil the rest of his career. Disrespectful is too strong of a word that gets thrown out too much by athletes, but it is a slap in the face when your team keeps paying guys off the street more money than you are making at your same position. he should have taken the money to begin with. running backs are replaceable
  19. what kind of human being takes a shot like that?
  20. that was weird. and neither of the announcers said a word
  21. dwyane wade screams like a bitch when he flops
