  1. for the record, i still blame weber for having nor charisma or dignity which has caused the latest calamity to befall the illinois program. mike thomas was behind the 8-ball the whole time. he never had a chance.
  2. i'm just disappointed. i have to remind myself that i didn't want stevens here anyway. it shouldn't mean anything to me, really. but a name coach would have energized recruiting efforts and the fan base, it would have given the coach a head start. but who knows? frank [expletive] haith was successful at missouri this year, not that that will continue.
  3. god i hope you're right
  4. this is pretty sickening. i watched, and even rooted for kansas yesterday. we have a long way to go to get back to where we were. now, we are reduced to hiring groce, guys like him are a dime a dozen, i'd much rather go after mack or drew. doesn't seem like we're interested in hiring anything more than a one-hit wonder. even beckman had two really good years in the mac and is 14-2 in conference the last 2 years. ohio hasn't even sniffed the regular season title in a one-bid league. i have little doubt that he's a good coach, but there will be no buzz surrounding his name, which will most likely cause him to have a huge uphill battle in terms of recruiting. since his name is not known, he's going to have to start the whole thing over. he'll already be in the hole the moment he sets foot on campus. we're looking at years here to potentially get things rolling again, as opposed to smart or stevens, who are celebrities. this is all assuming jerrance howard returns, if he doesn't, good luck getting anything besides 2-star talent out of ohio. recruiting in illinois will likely be an even worse scenario than weber had when he took over.
  5. I was fine with beckman, as football is a novelty at illinois, but groce is a beckman type hire. MT hasn't hired him yet so he gets the benefit of the doubt.
  6. Eddie Johnson is less qualified than me. Eddie johnson has a crackheads chance
  7. deshaun thomas is good, but i've never once seen him pass the ball.
  8. don't blame your grammar for your poor writing.
  9. Please, oh, please tell me you have enough self-respect not to join the same trolling quest that SULLEY, of all people, is on. we will also miss your wonderful sentences.
  10. Agreed. Next season, I'm going to start an "Illinois/Indiana/Purdue Fan Dick Measuring Contest" thread then ask the mods to be ban me from it immediately. You forgot the Big 12 guys... Yes, I think it's only fair that Kansas/Missouri be included (though their volume of posts is less) and I'll join in the request for immediate banning from that thread. you'd be missed, i assure you of that.
  11. biggs is a tool. one of his tweets right before the trade went down was directed at a guy who was asking about marshall: "haven't heard anything about marshall" or something like that, and laying the condescension on thick. then boom, marshall traded like 5 minutes later. lol, it was awesome.
  12. truly, the heyday of indiana basketball has returned with this sweet sixteen berth and loss.
  13. oh well, at least ohio state is still alive
  14. they can get points whenever they want
  15. that shot would have gone down in history
  16. lol at groce jumping around and stomping his feet
  17. guarantee that the refs try to screw ohio and another potential illini hire out of the tourney
  18. Because POOPYPANTS is running it and he is incompetent. Edit: nevermind that second sentence this mass delusion isn't his fault, for sure.
  19. and he's denied any contact. why do i get this idea that this coaching hunt is one big mass delusion?
  20. 245th in the country in possessions per game, tied with Illinois, Colorado State and others. I think he's been in the 300 range before too hasn't he? 327, 284, 292, 277, 218 in adjusted tempo. They've been 6th, 13th, 36th, 46th the previous 4 years in 3FGA/FGA. Sulley will have to reverse his stance on slow-paced godless chuckers. just win, baby
  21. if this actually happens i hope i don't have to take off work for the presser, because i will.
  22. Stevens would be an absolute home-run. He'd win a national championship at Illinois. he would definitely add to the list of "heavy-hitters" in the conference.
  23. I like the orange coat. He can make it cool to paint the hall orange again. God I want to be good again. It's been too long. no, the orange coat is embarrassing. self refused to wear it and any coach who takes himself seriously will, too.
  24. i've kind of done a 180 on stevens, though i'm not sold on style of play yet. he's 35, so he could be our coach for the next 30 years, which is nice if he is successful and IU doesn't fire crean for a while.
