  1. Never mind Dusty's managing, it's becoming difficult to like him as a human being. He's such a worm.
  2. Not a big fan of punk? I am a big fan of punk, but not the Ramones. They bore me. I give them credit for giving punk a kickstart by repopularizing the 2:30 rock song and showing that you don't need to play great to start a band, but other than that I don't think they offered much. The bands that actually imitated their songwriting are mostly pop-punk, and I HATE pop-punk.
  3. Same here. Crappy dinosaur rock, I hate everything about them. As a backhanded compliment I could say that bands like Rush were largely responsible for the rise of punk rock, so in that sense you could say they made a positive contribution by showing everybody what the exact opposite of coolness is. I also resent critics who lump Pink Floyd in with Rush and Yes as "art rock". Pink Floyd is 100101010101020330402304230 times better than either Rush or Yes. Yes is a band that I've heard some early punk rockers point to as a primary anti-influence.
  4. Ramones = hideously overrated. They may have influenced a lot of great bands but they themselves weren't even close to great.

  6. ELO could beat some people too.
  7. I'm sure they could beat a lot of bands in the tourney so I say YES to Styx.
  8. So if we have to do player development we can't hold that against Dusty's record, likewise if any of his horses are injured. Only when circumstances are ideal should any games count towards Dusty's record.
  9. If he doesn't have a decent season next year he should just retire.
  10. I like the reference to Bastille Day, and I like that he assumes the reader made the connection.
  11. What's criminal is that one of these bands has to get eliminated in the 1st round.
  12. Two pleasant but rather inconsequential bands. Meh.
  13. It's simple physics. Ponson is an ineffective pitcher because his body's powerful gravitational field provides increased bat speed for opposing hitters and slows down his pitches.
  14. Argh, 2 of my faves meet in the 1st round. Sorry Radiohead, but I'll have to take CCR. I HATE most classic rock but CCR rules.
  15. Santana grabbed an early lead because you started the thread in the morning, whilst witches and demons slumbered. The forces of metal are marshaling their numbers and will reach full strength in the black shadows of night. I'm a little scared to have voted for Santana. At the midnight hour the metal legions will take grim vengeance on their enemies. Demons shall rend their flesh, vampires shall taste their blood, and witches shall curse their childrens' children. I pity the Santana voters.
  16. I think Aram is lazy because I don't believe he worked very hard to upgrade his fitness in the offseason.
  17. Slap bass is the most obnoxious thing anyone can do with an instrument.

  19. Hail Slaytan! I lost interest in blues-based classic rock a long time ago but still crank the metal.
  20. Just because the Cubs are damned for eternity doesn't mean we can't honor the devil. Vote Sabbath!
  21. Late-80's Metallica was a great band at the top of their game, now they just suck.
  22. Dream Theater? That's a guitar nerd band. Even amongst other nerds, guitar nerds are conspicuously nerdy.
  23. I bet that Pierre will be ahead of Patterson in 2 of those 3 categories by the end of the season. He is catching up-very fast. Maybe, but Corey was productive while his team was still in contention and Pierre wasn't.
  24. I would be OK with keeping Neifi if we get a new manager, but if Dusty is here for 2007 you know Neifi will get his 300+ at bats again and keep batting 2nd.
  25. I expect Dusty to make excuses for a lazy star who has a walk option in his contract, most managers would do that. But you'd think Dusty could come up with something more convincing than "he hustled at the wrong time". That actually makes Aram look worse.
