  1. I'm like 60/40 on whether I want the Cubs to come down with him just because I think the tantrums if they don't will be hilarious I’d prefer Narvaez to him so won’t hate it if we miss out. Prepare for Yan Gomes then to be your everyday starter. I mean just look at the rotation when he calls games! (that's some dumb Yadier Molina logic)
  2. The best way to build a roster in baseball is to draft and sign young talent and develop that talent. And then after that talent is developed, you take that talent and either supplement your roster or you trade that talent for established talent with years of team control left. That's why I've always thought Theo and Jed were the problem (post 2016) and not the owners. Even if the owners aren't spending what we want, you can still acquire talent via trades, especially since the Cubs prospect pool is actually deep as hell now. Spending crazy money in free agency should really only be a last case scenario to finish off a team that is a contender.
  3. Here's the thing though, if you're scared about the money down the line, then trade for Sean Murphy. The Cubs front office has never been creative enough to trade for good hitters with team control left like other good front offices do.
  4. Brewers absolutely swindled everyone here
  5. I think they can sneak into the playoffs right now without adding another player with playoff expansion. The Cardinals appear to be the only team in the division actively trying to win in addition to the Cubs, more or less. It use to drive me crazy when Hendry and MacPhail would say they wanted to be competitive within the division, but the more things change the more they stay the same (See, Carlos Beltran, 2005) How? The offense has gotten worse, the pitching is only marginally better from a team that finished 19 games out of the division and 13 games out of the WC last year. Keep in mind, you don't play your division as much with the new schedules. The Cubs aren't going to be able to rack up wins against the Reds and Pirates like years past. I think it's just 2 series each home and road.
  6. They're not making the playoffs with Swanson either so just punt another season if that's the plan
  7. Cubs are gonna sign Dansby Swanson to a stupid contract and a few other scraps and call it an offseason. The owners will be used as scapegoats but even if the owners are cheap, Jed Hoyer needs to be more creative and he's not.
  8. If they don't get Correa, just don't bother
  9. International players are always exciting because you haven't seen them fail yet but 5/75 is telling me teams don't really care for him much.
  10. I'm going to puke when the Cubs give Dansby Swanson 8+ years
  11. If they sign Swanson and one of those catchers, this team is going to be so boring next year. That's a bad offense unless Bellinger remembers how to hit again.
  12. Ben Clemens had 3/42 on fangraphs
  13. I'm fine letting him go for defense if they sign a big power bat.
  14. A Dansby Swanson/Cody Bellinger/Random light-hitting defensive catcher offseason would be brutal on the offensive end. Now that they have Bellinger, they need to land one of Correa or Xander.
  15. Have to go after better bats now. No Dansby Swanson and Christian Vazquez. If Bellinger is truly broken, you're looking at an awful offense if you sign those two.
  16. I believe this is DUI #3
  17. Give me that top 5 pick
  18. Steelers win. Good week for the tank. Really feeling good if the Bears lose this week. Week 18 against the Vikings scares me a little if they bench everyone so you can really only afford maybe 1 more win before that.
  19. Luckily some of the bad teams won today so 1 win won't kill them. Hoping the Raiders beat the Seahawks.
  20. Montgomery should be next. I want to see Herbert with a full workload.
  21. Ryan Poles is doing work. Was not a fan of paying $20 million a year to a linebacker, especially one that hasn't looked remotely good this year.
