  1. Cutler's 1 for 4 for 5 yards and a pick. Nice to see Peyton Hillis in there for the Broncs.
  2. Nice start for the Dolphin defense. Hold Pittman to 2 rushes for 0 yards, and pick off Cutler's first pass.
  3. What about the Arkansas-SC game?
  4. It's weird - they just lost to the current #3 team and recently beat the #4 team. Where can you rank them that doesn't have some quirk? Can't be in the top 3 and you're not going to drop OU a spot to #5, so you had to know Texas would be below OU in the standings this week. 3 spots might be too many, but I don't see how you can rank them higher than 6th right now. ETA - if you're the AP, I guess you just drop OU 2 spots. Wow. i don't know what i'd do with the rest of the teams up in that area - alabama, penn st, florida, usc, etc. - but i do know that i would have the big xii teams ranked texas tech, texas, oklahoma. that's the only thing that makes sense right now. tech beat texas and texas beat oklahoma, all within the last month. if tech loses to okie st or oklahoma, then it's a free for all, but right now i don't understand how you can put OU above texas. Agreed. I don't care that Oklahoma blew out Nebraska this week. That doesn't guarantee that they can't drop a spot in the polls. The AP poll looks fine to me with Texas ahead of Oklahoma and the top-3 all being undefeated teams. I'm thinking there's no way you could rank OU 3-8 without angering someone's fanbase. I don't think OU is deserving of a #1 vote, but blowing out an also-ran shouldn't cause a team to drop in the polls. However, Texas did beat OU, and for now, deserves to be ahead of OU on that merit. I'm guessing OU was the toughest team to rank this week. Texas fans have pretty good reason to cry this week though. They're definitely better than USC. The bolded is part of what's wrong with the polls. You shouldn't reward/punish a team for whatever impressions you had of it a week ago any more than you should do so for two weeks ago, or five, or preeseason polls. Saying a team shouldn't drop becasue it didn't lose is basically just punishing the teams below for being underappreciated beforehand.
  5. Something funny? A friend of mine used to use "fu schnick" as a substitute for profanity, as in "what the fu schnick?" Nice to know the combined form would get censored anyway. In other news, why doesn't this guy: http://img367.imageshack.us/img367/9992/anthonyoden821150ov2.jpg look very old?
  6. Hahaha I bet we could take Tulane. If Texas wins tonight I am becoming a Penn State fan for the rest of 2008. Am I the only one that didn't get this? If Texas wins out and Penn State loses, they would likely be playing Florida for the NC assuming they win out too. I want nothing to do with Florida. I don't blame you, but Penn State is kind of dependent on what other teams do at this point, sitting in third. Alabama could still run the table, and if Florida manhandles them they could still end up in the NC with one loss. I was just wondering why you wouldn't root against florida as opposed to for a team to beat them.
  7. If Texas wins tonight I am becoming a Penn State fan for the rest of 2008. Am I the only one that didn't get this?
  8. He's a very good passer, who knows how much of his passing efficiency is tied into his ability to run the football. He won't be able to do that in the NFL. He's not like Young, McNabb, Moon or Vick. He'll try to take on NFL linebackers and he will get banged up a lot. Someone will take a chance on him. He's got NFL arm strength and has nice touch on the vertical passing game. If it doesn't work out, he'd make it as a ****. f.u.l.l.b.a.c.k. is getting starred out? What the hell?  I remember that happening last year. It's because it has f, u, c, and k in that sequence, with the f (and possibly the u) first and the k (and maybe c) last. let's test it out. firetruck fuschnickens fuschnick fuschinicker fuddrucker's
  9. Looking back at it, it does sound creepy. That's what I get for watchign freakin Law and Order: SVU. As for his public persona, people want to call Nick, "Satan" and all these ridiculous statements about his character, but what people don't realize this guy is well respected among coaches (if not feared). Players and their families absolutely love Nick Saban because he is a straight shooter (the Miami situation was a lose-lose for him. He answer's those question and people think he leaves for Bama, if he doesn't answer then think he leaves for Bama, it was impossible situation, and he wanted to get the season over before he talked about his future at that time). I'm not saying Saban isn't without flaws, but Saban isn't this monster the media has made him out to be. This is why I defend Saban. People who don't follow Alabama football, or live in the state of Alabama they buy into the media perception of Saban that he is this money grubbing monster, which in reality is the furtherest from the truth. Nick Saban is a good man, prolly a better man then most---including myself---on this board. My question is: why is Saban criticizes still today for leaving the Miami Dolphins job AFTER THE SEASON, yet Bobb Petrino---after a brief Howrystorm---was basically given a pass for quitting on the Falcons DURING THE SEASON. So, I will defend Saban even if he does decide to leave for another school. Which is why I am perplexed at LSU fans (out of the view smart ones, like vance) Saban did more for LSU in 5 yrs then the previous coaches over the last 20 yrs. LSU was with the likes of Vanderbilt and Kentucky before Saban got there, and with Saban's help and recruits he help bring in, LSU has won 2 NT. People need to stop hating on Saban, and appreciate how great of a coach he is. Yeah, this is completely and totally wrong. Bobby Petrino was ripped to shreds by the media after he quit on the Falcons, a hell of a lot more so than Saban was for leaving Miami. I didn't even see that. The week he left the Falcons, ESPN suddenly became the Petrino Network. That statement is so wrong it's laughable.
  10. You'll have another next year. IT'S A FINAL! Arkansas 30, Tulsa 23. So proud of the defense. They made big stops in the red zone. Johnson got 324, but hey sacked him 3 times and picked him off once. Meanwhile, Dick got 385. Smith had a rough game with 23 for 69. DJ Williams had 6 catches for 128, and freshman Jerious Wright took his turn in the freshman receiver big play rotation with 5 catches for 113 yards. This is all I wanted. I didn't think they'd be great, but I wanted them to be competitive and improve as the season went along. That's exactly what they've done. Thisis team may be ready to take on their stupid schedule next year after all.
  11. Arkansas has sacked David Johnson (QB) of Tulsa 3 times. They'd been sacked 8 times coming into today. And they just picked him off. Bradford, Robinson, and McCoy will be happy with the Hogs knocking him down a few rungs.
  12. Tulsa got to the 5, but was held to a field goal...on the following kickoff, Dennis Johnson returned it 95 yards for a TD. \:D/ =D>
  13. Casey Dick just broke 300.
  14. 3rd down INT by Arkansas! Nice play.
  15. 526 yards of offense in the Arkansas-Tulsa game. No surprise. Arkansas has 306 of them. Surprise. 263 of those in the air. Surprise.
  16. 23-20 Arkansas at the half. Again, the Hogs took it down to the 4 and couldn't get in. That's going to get you beat against an offense like Tulsa's, especially since they get the ball back to start the second half.
  17. DJ Williams just went over 100 yards on the day.
  18. you can watch it on espn.com How's that? espn360 go to the scoreboard on espn.com and click on "watch now" Damn, doesn't work for me.. I don't have the right provider. Tulsa ties it up. 20-20...3:08 to go in the first half.
  19. you can watch it on espn.com How's that?
  20. It's annoying watching this play-by-play and having a 1-in-3 chance of knowing who did whatever. Tulsa scores again, but missed the PAT. 17-13 Arkansas.
  21. Haha, wow. I just looked at this week's positional player rankings on Rivals, and D.J. Williams jumped from 18th to 10th after catching 10 for 129 in last week's game. he fell from 14th to 18th the week before after getting no catches. Michael Smith holds steady at #10. Jonathan Luigs remains #3 among linemen. And there's the Casey Dick I know. interception gives Tulsa the ball back.
  22. Tulsa's mounting a deep drive now. 2nd and 10 from the Arkansas 26 after a 47 yard pass completion. And there's a Tulsa TD. Knew it woudln't last forever. Incidentally, can't yahoo gamechannel come up with better abbreviations for the Tulsa QB and RBs? Here is that last drive. 1st-10, Tuls16 2:16 D. Johnson rushed to the left for 3 yard gain 2nd-7, Tuls19 1:45 D. Johnson rushed to the right for 8 yard gain 1st-10, Tuls27 1:35 D. Johnson passed to C. Clay to the right for 47 yard gain 1st-10, Ark26 1:20 D. Johnson incomplete pass to the right 2nd-10, Ark26 1:17 D. Johnson passed to D. Johnson to the left for 3 yard gain 3rd-7, Ark23 0:55 J. Bower passed to T. Johnson to the right for 23 yard touchdown. J. Tracy made PAT I had to go to the site and figure out who was what. Tulsa's QB is David Johnson, and they have two D. Johnsons at running back (Demeris and another David).
  23. I was just about to post something similar. Imagine if they had played like this all year. It's one of those cases where the record belies their true abilities. If they played like this all season long, they'd still be a borderline top 25 team...which is what they are. Right now they're a borderline bowl team, and wouldn't sniff the top 25.
  24. I was just about to post something similar. Imagine if they had played like this all year. It's one of those cases where the record belies their true abilities. Arkansas just went up 17-0 on a Michael Smith TD run. Arkansas yardage: 189 Tusla yardage: 6 I couldn't have dreamed of this happening.
  25. Just got home, and holy crap Casey Dick is 5 for 6 for 106 and a TD. Right as I posted that, he threw another 6 yard completion and an incompletion. And Tejada, the all-american high school kicker who helped Arkansas so much last year and then got benched after two games for going 0-for-everything in FGs and PATs, has taken the job back. 10-0 Razorbacks with a little under 5 minutes left in the first. Arkansas yardage: 134 Tulsa: 6
