  1. any big World Cup games tomorrow. Z may want to make this one quick so he can get back to the games. Ecuador vs. Costa Rica England vs Trinidad & Tobago Sweden vs. Paraguay
  2. Unless they're Spain. Seth, how are you feeling about the Italy game Saturday? Alternatingly optimistic and pessimistic. I like what I've heard from the US camp since the debacle, and that makes me encouraged. Then I think about their actual performance in the debacle, as well as the fact that Italy looked very very good, and Gattuso looks like he'll be fit, and I get discouraged. I gotta sit and think more about this one.
  3. it counts as 1/3 of a meaningful home run, because the 2nd and 3rd runs were meaningless.
  4. An opposing pitcher I've never heard of, with a bad ERA. I don't like our chances.

I said it before and, now that we've tossed out the stats, I'll say it again: Bwahahahahahahaha.
  6. Unless they're Spain.
  7. Looks like I won't even be changing back during Stanley Cup commercials
  8. Someone just edited it and added "terribly"
  9. Spain is just plain controlling the midfield and slicing their way upfield at will.
  10. Either that or you were unhappy with the quality of potential autographs and called it off.
  11. hmm, i wonder if nevin's gonna get another slider here
  12. yeah, but Rubby has it all. apparently there is a singer and 2 doctors in his family. That would be Rubby, enchanter of puppies. I particularly enjoyed the gang sign flash. I was just about to make a comment on that
  13. Has anyone kept track of the number of Jacque Jones 15-20 foot throws so far this year?
  14. I want to go to the World Cup and be completely insane. Hopefully in 4 years I get my chance
  15. Apparently some of you have missed the fact that they already do the sponsored half-inning races on the small video board under the scoreboard.
  16. The entire ESPN/ABC coverage has been a joke in every way.
  17. OK, I'm not going to rehash my thoughts on the game that much, since everyone else pretty much said what needed to be said. Just a couple things: Lewis and Convey on the left obviously provides no defensive coverage whatsoever. Gooch was immasculated by the early yellow card and was tentative for the rest of the game. Landon Donovan sucks. Beasley hasn't played well since the qualifier vs. Mexico last September. I was pleasantly surprised with EJ. The fact that Bruce lumped Wolff in with EJ as "doing well" in the press conference makes me want to vomit. Now, looking forward to Italy... Did you guys see the midfield play in the Italy-Ghana game? We're gonna get eaten alive by both midfields unless somone plays way over their head. And italy was missing Gattuso, too. Could be even worse. Toni is just a fantastic striker. Didn't score today, but generated a number of scoring chances, including the one he put off the bar where he created a chance out of thin air, really. And he's always, ALWAYS available. He's got an amazing workrate. Totti is fine, and he's gonna be a huge handful. Our defense doesn't have good recovery speed, and his threaded passes are going to create big problems. I was at least happy that Gilardino was looking like crap, because we'd only have one in-form striker to deal with. Then Iaquinta stepped up and looked pretty good. I didn't think his one run was offside, either, so he could've easily had 2. He'll probably start against us. And one more thing about Ghana: they'll never get the penalty calls with those ridiculous pirouette-type dives in the box.
  18. Yeah, I just watched part of the replay of today's US game and it's the first soccer game I've ever really watched. I've gotta ask: how much time a game does each player spend writhing on the ground in "pain" trying to draw a foul, only to pop back up like nothing happened when none is called? (Or even if it is called.) I think I've seen less hammy performances in pro wrestling matches. Um, there's a lot of that. Especially when pavel nedved is playing.
  19. It was rocking for about 4 minutes (I was in the back room). Then the Czechs scored and the press (Comcast Sports Net, I think) wandered around trying and failing to get interviews with the POed clientele.
  20. it'll be on ESPN2 and ESPNU again later today.
  21. Quoted for truth. and luck.
  22. All of you people who are able to watch the game live tomorrow upset me greatly. Just get an illness for Christ's sake.
  23. I have to get my new car's financing in order tomorrow morning.
