  1. I think FA's base who they are going to sign with on who offers them the best contract. Winning is secondary.
  2. “There isn't anything you can't do if you try hard enough.” Then Lou didn't recognize him at the game years later!
  3. I don't have a problem so much with the bunt either. It's completely neutral. I would have thought about putting a pitcher in to bunt, and had Madrigal, a contact hitter bat for Morel, who is poor at making contact. The runner on 3B would certain be in "going on contact" mode, and Madrigal almost certainly would have put the ball in play. There was also the hit an run option with Madrigal, instead of bunting. Again, he would have likely made contact, AND the ball may have found the hole where the infield vacated because the runners were on the move. That's the option that I would have chosen.
  4. It would take a staggering amount more than Morel to get Kirby.
  5. Framing and bad umpiring is why they need the automated strike zone. I'm not sure why they don't want to get the calls right. The technology has been there for years. What's the delay???
  6. I personally prefer a series thread. It has a continuous flow to it, instead of starting a new thread every game.
  7. But Japanese is equivalent to AAA ball. Maybe that's what he is. A triple A masher.
  8. Hitting a baseball is hard enough as it is. Starting off 0-1 really puts the hitter behind the eight ball.
  9. He has a great eye. I personally think his biggest problem is that he way too passive at the plate. He lets too many meatballs go by putting himself in the hole. He not nearly a good enough hitter to be behind in the count. He is his worst enemy. I said about a month ago, that if I'm the Cubs, I'd tell him that he's going to the bench unless he changes his passive approach.
  10. I missed that! The Reds will be out of it by then!!
  11. I missed the 31st! 26 games in 27 days
  12. I was thinking the same thing, but I see the last Iowa game is Sep 24th.
  13. Service time only comes in to play for the teams that plan on losing the player after 6-7 years. Some teams lock their players up very early and have them in their prime years, and not just in their team control years. I'd like to see the Cubs start being more like the Braves when it comes to projected elite players and ink them for double digit years.
  14. You are correct! At some point, I remember the CBA had no more than 20 consecutive game were to be played.
  15. I think you're right. I can see Killian going 3+ innings tonight after Smyly gets pulled. He threw 6 innings on Aug 1, so he's fresh.
  16. So I'm thinking that we see Luke Little soon than later. Thoughts?
  17. The Reds will finish under .500 and won't be a factor in the division.
  18. Well that's a real bargain for the braves!
  19. I don't think that they were under market extensions. They were under FA market, but not under extension market.
  20. I'd rather ambush him and get him out of the game by scoring runs instead of pitch count.
  21. If you can't find it at Binny's, it's probably not worth drinking.
  22. If I had to guess, Candy is better defensively than Wisdom at 3B. First base is the least important defensive position on the field, so just throw Wisdom over there, instead of at 3B. If they are both going to be in the lineup, I would suspect that this is going to be the norm.
  23. I can see this lineup being fairly common against RHP. Tauchman in RF and Suzuki on the bench.
