  1. Tough task for certain, but if they win 29 of 43, the teams ahead of them won't be of any concern. For this to happen, they can't just "win the series" against the likes of, Tor, Det, Mia, Was, Col, and Oak. They are going to have to sweep most of these series'.
  2. I say this every game to myself. They have the top of the strike zone at the belt. Unless I missed something, that's not the top of the strike zone.
  3. I've been saying this for a long time. Hit the ball!
  4. If he gets on base about 220 times, he'll be closer to 150 SB than 50 SB.
  5. I agree, but looking at Jed's inability to trade some guys that should have been moved, he's still trying for a WC spot.
  6. Why a cheap depth SP? Why not Burnes while dropping everybody down a notch?
  7. It's a ton more than that. Without adding in about 28 million for arb guys and 0-3 guys, they will be be 91 million under the CBT tax number. That gives them 63 million under budget with arb and 0-3 guys. If they can somehow shake Belli, they will have about 90 million to spend.
  8. Congratulations on your new home, bud! Off topic: I think that this Neely kid is going to be an impact arm in the pen next season, and hopefully a look at him this season.
  9. And where TF have you been??? Teaching summer school?? Hahahaha
  10. They didn't trade Rizzo because of these numbers. Jed was part of the group who drafted Rizzo in Boston. Then Jed made the trade that brought him from Boston to SD for Morales. In 2012 Yonder Alonso was SD's top prospect. They could only keep one of Yonder or Rizzo. Jed LOVED Rizzo from day one and made sure he followed him where every he went. Cashner was a big young arm, but Jed was willing to give up up for a prospect, which Rizzo was.
  11. Jed should be setting the market. Not reacting to the market.
  12. You are spot on about Assad. That said, if I was on the receiving end of the trade, I would be concerned with his FIP, WHIP, and his inability to go further than 5 innings. I would trade Assad in a heart beat. I think that he's a #4 or 5 guy. And he may be best in pen, as he taxes the pen when he pitches.
  13. This is true from a fans perspective. Ricketts may feel a little different about how Jed is doing.
  14. I'd prefer his power stroke coming off the bench, with some spot starts, opposed to trading him at his low point. He's not useless by any means. He's just not an every day player on a team that's trying to win the WS
  15. I assumed that. But the post implied that he a Bregman, who's a FA are the best options. Which I agree with.
  16. Peredes isn't a FA until after 2027. Are you talking about his trade market?
  17. I'd rather have Morel on the roster as a power stick off the bench, with the periodic starts due to matchups, opposed to trading him. His projection was a role player off the bench, and was thrusted in to the every day lineup. That's not who he is on a team trying to win a WS. The best way to improve bench depth is to move starters to the bench, while replacing them with better players. And it obviously improves the starting roster. I think Morel has more bench value than trade value.
  18. I can't wait until he's gone.
  19. The Cards are hoping for a split. Spitting against the team we're chasing is not good. It's a blown opportunity, while removing 4 games against them off the books. It's good for the Cards though.
  20. The umpire's union should be pushing hard for this!! Nothing negative for them. They will still physically be announcing the call. They just have the decision making power taken from them. This will make their job easier, and less humiliating. This is a great thing for the umps!
  21. But he still got the framed autographed card back!!
  22. And spent a ton of money doing it! He is not qualified to run a major market team that should be trying to win the WS every single year. “When people say a small-market mentality, they’re talking about trying to find value in deals and undervalued players. I always want to do that." - Jed
  23. This is already with player benefits it the amount. It's not with bonuses. I don't see any player with any real performance bonus in his contract.
