  1. With the number I used before adding money for injuries of 65 million, it's going to be in the range of your number for certain. Back out 3.5 million for the 2 opt outs, and we are at 61.5 million. Back out injury money, and yes, we are in the low to mid 50's. Thanks, as I never considered that for one second. I was just looking at what's on paper.
  2. I get that now. I honestly was only using the numbers at hand. Contracts, arb, pre arb, bonus pool, 40 man guys, and player benefits. Adding in IL payroll is a game changer.
  3. Yes, if we add 8-10 million to compensate for injuries, then I get it. But on paper, I haven't seen that done when figuring CBT payroll. But I'd assume that the Cubs have to do that due to the fact that the 241 million dollar number is pretty much etched in stone. Unless of course they make another payroll blunder like this season.
  4. I do understand that. If we are putting injury money in the mix before the injuries happen, then yes, it's in the low to mid 50's. I'm not doing that though. I guess it's the safe thing to do if a team was dead set on not going over 241 million.
  5. I just now looked at FG's arb numbers. They have 35 million in signed arb guys. I have 14 million in signed arb guys. If we just sign the 4 arb guys that I would sign, that brings FG number down to 176 million. Exactly where mine is at. One thing I thought was different was the opt out money. I was 100% certain that Bote's and Smyly's opt out money went against this season. It looks like I was wrong about that. I'm not able to comprehend what salaries due to injuries that haven't yet, have to due with the payroll before free agency starts tomorrow. Thanks for trying to spell it out for me. It actually looks like before my assumption on where the opt out money goes, they will actually have that 65 million, minus the 3.5 opt out money. FG is going to have to back out a ton of arb payroll when it comes time. I already did it.
  6. I'm pretty confused right now. My payroll number is before FA starts. So it's not going to have a 26 man roster. It also includes a full 40 man roster. It includes 0-3 bonus pool. It includes player benefits. And it includes signing 4 arb guys, with 12 pre arb guys on the roster before FA. Again, my number of having 65 million, is before free agency. I have about 131 million in contracts. I have 14 million in arb guys. I have a little over 9 million in league minimum guys. I have 22 million in benefits, 0-3 bonus pool, and a full 40 man roster. That's in the area of 176 million dollars with 23 player on the active roster. What am I not seeing here? I'm not sure where you got my arb numbers from. It's nowhere near that. I have Steele at 6.3 mil, Paredes at 5.3 million, Pearson at 1.3 million, and Merryweather at 1.2 million. I don't have Tauchman getting tendered, but I'm starting to second guess that choice of mine. EDIT: FG arb numbers differ from Cot's numbers a bit. I'm using Cot's. But since I'm only having 4 arb guys on the roster, it's not off by much compared to FG.
  7. I didn't miss a thing. Everything in my post adds up to my numbers. There's nothing left out. It would be a lot easier conversation if you just told me what you're referring to. Thanks!
  8. I was looking at a couple factors. Age, cost, and power. But I get your point. Thanks.
  9. With Happ, PCA, Belli, and Suzuki all being OF'ers, I can't imagine carrying 2 more OF'ers. I think there's on spot for 1 OF bench player. Even though Suzuki is going to DH, he's still the 4th OF'er. What am I missing with Canario? Both Tauchman and Canario are out of options. One is 34 years old at 3 million. One is 25 years old at 760k. We know who Tachman is, and we don't know who Canario is. If I'm removing one of the from the system, it's not going to be Canario. They both can't stay around on the 40. I'm choosing Canario as the 5 OF'er over Tauchman here.
  10. How are my 23 player salaries not at 65 million below the cap? This includes all 40 man guys, 0-3 bonus pool money, and all player benefits. What am I missing?
  11. It's listed above. I have a 23 man roster heading into FA. All kidding aside, did you not see the list of players??
  12. I was more mad at myself for forgetting to add the additional CBT money before I sent the post, and then you quoted my old post. I apologize. My original post was fixed and it's still at 65 million under the cap. Everybody is working off all 14 players getting tendered a contract. What number do you see under the cap?
  13. Of course there's only 23 guys on the roster. It's not completed. This is before free agency. You think they are going to have 26 guys on the roster tomorrow, and not add anybody? I think it's time to consider Canario over Tauchman. Instead of criticizing and challenging my roster, put something together with the payroll and we can discuss it.
  14. I edited it after I forgot that. It's still 65 million under You quoted my old post
  15. That 51.6 is tendering every arb guy. Look at my numbers above and please correct them.
  16. Here's my numbers. Please correct me with your numbers. This is Cot's CBA numbers. Contracts (7) Belli 26.7 Dansby 25.3 Happ 20.3 Suzuki 17 Jaimo 17 Imanago 13.2 Nico 11.7 Total 131.2 million Arb guys (4) Steele 6.3 Paredes 5.3 Pearson 1.2 Merryweather 1.2 Total 14 million 0-3 guys (12) Assad Wesneski Amaya Miller Busch Wicks Little Brown PCA Kilian Hodge Vasquez Total approx 9.3 million Total 154.5 million Now add in almost 22 million for 0-3 bonus pool, 40 man guys, and player benefits, and we have a payroll of around 176 million. That would be 65 million under. Honestly, help me with this. What do YOU see? Not Sharma.
  17. I expect better performances from Paredes, Busch, and PCA. Add a catcher, and put all the money towards pitching. I'd like to see a top 10 offense, and a top 5 rotation and pen.
  18. I've done the math several times, I had 92 million with Cody opting out, and 65 with him not opting out. I have 10-11 guy getting non tendered. Cot's still has those salaries in their numbers. Back those out, and you have the correct payroll.
  19. Using Cots, and only signing 3-4 arb guys, I see it at around 65 million right now.
  20. MAYBE a last minute effort to sign with their current team? I'm not sure what the delay otherwise could be.
  21. It's a starting point for me. Of course if they are a good FA, they will get more than that. I'd say that Walker won't get over 6 million for one year. If I have to make a prediction, I'd say Fried get in the 170 range.
  22. All I use is Cot's for current contracts. As far as Spotrac goes, they are not predicting the contracts. It's their market value base on similar comps over the last 2 years. I've been using Spotrac, and the stars usually get 20-25% over their established market value. Based on that, I think Santander will be in the 105 million range. I'll have to try to navigate FG to find their market value.
  23. I'd love to know what site you use! Thanks. I'm always looking for new sites.
  24. I'm basing my number on what Spotrac has his market value at, based on the 4 comps they used. I meant to say 4 million also. Sorry. I would personally be shocked if he got anywhere near 13 million. As you know, in the FA market, player get over their market value simply because of a bidding war. https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/player/market-value/_/id/17639/walker-buehler
  25. They would never give him a QO. He would take it and they would be stuck paying him 21 million. His market value is closer to 3 million.
